> yfw you just CAN'T find a pre-64 model 94 in 30-30 ANYWHERE that's not overpriced as shit

>mfw I know what you got!!!!

Blame nostalgia and gun writers. Pre-64 Winchester anything isn't particularly impressive though.

I bought a 1957 Model 94 last August for $350 bucks.
I've got a 1949 model 94 in 30-30 and I like it a lot. My grandpa got it as a 16th birthday present

If they're all overpriced, then they can't be, by definition, overpriced.
You're just cheap.

JUST.

I live bi curiously through my buddy with two.
I Helped him clean it a while ago, fitted very well but the old grease had dried up and made it a bitch to key non moving parts out. We ended up giving it a tap tap taparoo for an hour to get the tang out of the frame.

you got pics?
>tfw your landscaper gives you a pre 64 model 94 as a thank you for using your gov't connections to help him get back out of Guatemala after his sisters wedding
Feels good man. Shoutout to Jorge!
My local Cabela's has 3 of them for under $500. They're not flawless by any means but they should be perfectly serviceable.

nice. I checked my local Cabelas. They had one, pre-64, but in 32 win spc....for $1200.

Hunted deer and elk with a 1898 model 94 until I was 25 and bought a model 70 in 7mm Rem Mag. Inherited it from my dad who got it from an uncle.
Beautiful, beautiful gun.
Pre-64 anything is fucking overpriced for what it is despite the excellent workmanship.
Same thing with pre Remington Marlins.
Have two post 64 1894s. Never had a major issue. One had a stamped carrier but I had it replaced with a milled carrier. Also for some reason neither of them (A 80s era 94AE and a 67 Canadian Centennial) dont like PPU brass, dont understand why.

>posting a pic of an airsofter

What's the difference between pre and post 64 winchesters?
>>34487928
Pins instead of screws
I have one OP, but I'm unsure how to check to see how old it is.
>>34488150
isnt it easier to replace a screw than a pin
>>34488244
>Screw = Metal rod with a thread on the outside
>Pin = Metal rod.
No.

Actually, after 1964 Winchester stopped machining parts and started using stamped which led to issues with the rifles taking to the bluing. Basically, it made them look shitty even though functionally they were fine. In conclusion, my personal opinion of 1894's is that there's a definite sweet spot in where you get a rifle that can handle modern loads and has all the qualities of the original. That would be a post war pre '64. My opinion is that these are the best 1894's ever produced.

Machining techniques. Post '64 uses stamped parts that don't take to the bluing very well leading to poorer quality even though they function the same.
