I know that people love to meme up the Rising tiger v Falling burger doomsday scenario, but onto something a lot more serious; How likely is it that something kicks off in Asia between China and anyone else

And will it be Russia or India?
>>
>>34484992
Not much at all, they always relied on trade and nuclear deterrence to maintain peace. They always knew they would be totally outmatched in any conventional war.
>>
>>34485079
If India and Russia declare war on China, can Japan, SK, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines and NATO dogpile it?
>>
>>34485079
India. India was Obama's pet project...perhaps pet pajeet is better. The US was helping it develop carrier and weapon's technology. There was even talk of moving the entire F-16 production and refurbishment facility/ tooling to india to get them those sweet warbux. They failed to get their shit together, even though it could have easily been a done deal.

At this point, India is basically a semi failed nation. They have their urban areas, and industrial sectors, then a fuck ton of what is essentially lawless, poorly, poorly governed land, and a firewall against packistan and china.
>>
>>34485122

In the case of an India/Russia V China war, you can bet Taiwan and Vietnam will definitely jump in. Taiwan for reasserting itself as the legitemate rulers of China, Vietnam for vengeance of China's invasion of Vietnam in the late 70's/early 80's.

But Russia will not go to war with China. No fucking way will they do that now.

China is change. It is same of America.

America army was powerful, now America is gays, of blacks with no sence of country pride and woman who wants honors but will not fight of it and will drag down everything.

China of great builds and minds but very different from serk rush of Koreans War. They will great things in start if war but there is red line that when hit, shit starts the fan. I wonder if logistics, supplies of order will hold or will snowball and command will be confused and send destroyer to Antarctica instead in Alaska. It is of great thing to watch to see if what happens to China in pressure of war. Maybe they break of egg and butterfly on their own or they fall down of landing and cannot stand again.

India is shits. Always of wanting more of what they do not want to pay more. They want this but pay for it and want that other of free. They of complains but cannot even basics of maintenance then want refund.

India has animosity with Pakistan and the Chinks, but the rest of southeast asia prefers dealing with them over China, it looks like. Bhutan, for instance hosts Indian soldiers.

The Chniks and Indians seem to be in a naval arms race right now.

>>
>>34484992

When it finally goes down it's gonna be a meat grinder. Trench warfare, both sides hurling bodies into the mix, every other man gets a gun, unrestricted warfare, a worthless "UN" assembly condemning the atrocities everyone is committing against everyone. The West already descended into a civil war over one side's demand for mass, unrestricted third world immigration to end the White race while the other side fights for their right to merely exist.
>>
>>34488233
Nope, Hawaii is excluded by the same clause that was inserted to stop all of Britain's surviving colonial possessions being included.
At the time I understand it was Hong Kong that was the main concern, but as it turned out it was the Falklands where it was relevant.
>>
The thing is the threat to China from India and the USA are the complete opposite. The USA threatens the populous East coast and maritime claims, whereas India threatens China's south western mountainous region. Cuba has invested heavily on countering America, but has lagged behind on India. China would struggle to maintain operations in the Indian ocean without using Pakistani or Myanmar ports due to their power projection weakness.

The chink didn't give a fuck simply because they have no business in indian ocean, at least militarily speaking. Don't forget the single engine fighter program which the F-16 and Gripen E are competing for. >Last but not least, some more information on the Type 055's Type 346B AESA radar emerged. According to this source, the Type 055 is equipped with advanced active phased array radar with a larger diameter than the Type 346A radar fitted aboard the Type 052C class. One Type 346B radar array is larger than the 4.3x4.3 meter of the Type 346A arrays. The transmitter and receiver unit (is also using the latest Chinese gallium nitride (GaN) technology. Finally this new radar system is reportedly capable of fire control as well.

>Here is the detailed analysis by the experts we contacted:
1: UHF/VHF transmitters or R-ESM interceptor antenna
2: UHF/VHF receiver or R-ESM radio direction finding antenna
3: UHF antenna or possible Tactical Data Link
4: X-Band fire control radar for the missiles. For this role, the location is ideal (i.e nothing in its way, low risk of interference with other sensors).
5: This could be an IFF, however these antennas located above the bridge have different sizes. The large ones are likely linked to IFF roles but the smaller ones may well be LPI radars, surface (or combined) search radars or even the aforementioned "missing" navigation radars.
6: Same thing: Likely an LPI surface search or navigation radar antenna...
7: While many people on Chinese forums claim that these are L-Band radar arrays, but our experts really doubt those claims. "They may look like long range radar arrays, but they are most probably not radar array, even less so L-band ones. Such a low position, close to the waterline, would render such arrays very much ineffective". While still unusual, these arrays are probably jammers. Their locations are perfect to cover the entire flanks of the vessel. Plus they would work perfectly in conjunction with the two CIWS (HP/J-11 gun forward and HQ-10 missiles on top of the helicopter hangar).
8: Type 346B AESA Radar

There's a lot of it in the news this year, Google "India single engine fighter programme". Basically Saab and LockMart are competing to open a production line in India to supply this requirement, with Saab offering the Gripen E with full technology transfer for manufacturing and LockMart offering the latest block 70 F-16C without exclusive global manufacturing rights. Amusingly, this program might do more for Indian domestic aircraft capability than the Tejas has.

That would be the 'Out of Area' clause in Article 6, which imits the scope of article 5 to and I quote:

"the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, on the Algerian Departments of France, on the territory of or on the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer;"

Not being in the territory of North America, nor the North Atlantic, Hong Kong (when it was British), The Falklands, Hawaii and a number of other areas were excluded.

Not just one city. As I showed before, even tier 3 inland cities in the poor Yunnan province are very comfy these days.
All the misconceptions about China are just that. People are not living on top each other, pollution is not country wide and is seasonal, infrastructure is top notch, food scares are being reported because they are a rarity (and not because they are common place).
China is not the world 2nd economy by chance. They have built up a lot and their living standards became very good.

Th Poos will need an actual development dictatorship as well as 40 more years to achieve that.

The US goes to war ove rwhatevver it feels like whenever it feels like and NATO allies would be free to join in and US NATO command infrastructure, however it would not be an obligation and a number of NATO countries would opt out.

I spent a semester at ECNU in shanghai. People pissed in sidestreets and alleys all the time, and while in line to go up the TV tower once my friends and I watched a couple hold their adorable little girl over a trashcan where she proceeded to piss and shit in a crowd of about 400 people. One of our chinese classmates explained that diapers are not traditional, and that it was still fairly common to just keep small children naked under a dress/gown type thing and let them do their business wherever like that. All in all, most public spaces were pretty fuckin' filthy... it's a city after all... to say they are usually "very clean" is more than just an exaggeration, it's straight BS.

I lived there for several months and got to travel a bit. Even going right outside shanghai to zhujiajao in a minibus meant taking some semi-paved and dirt roads.

China is a third world country with some modern cities and town, not unlike India or Nigeria, or even Qatar or the UAE. Though Dubai etc. were exponentially cleaner than Beijing, Guangzhou, or Shanghai in my opinion.

Bhutan had no choice but to accept Indian soldiers, since they were invaded by them and made a vassal state. Hell, Bhutan's royal princess even fled to China back in the 70s when India annexed Bhutan.

I spent 7 years in China working for Volkswagen and literally nothing of that is a sign of a 3rd world nation. We have unpaved dirt roads in rural Germany as well. And again, 1st gen urban dwellers still have farm habits with them. I would be lying if I didn't shit in the woods and fields back at grandpa's farm.
As for pissing in the alleyways, this is not a sign of 3rd world either. Or do you want to tell me that London is a Shithole? (It actually is)

China is largely a modern country, unlike India where I had to go for a while. They have the infrastructure, the widespread of electricity, running water, public services and an unified government that implements the basic rules across the entire country, unlike India or Nigeria.

China is the world's second largest economy (third if you count EU/EEA as a single entity) because it's fuckhuge and has a billion people living there. Their per-capital gdp is less than $8k though, which puts them behind such notables as Russia, Poland, Equatorial Guinea, Mexico, as well as both Hong Kong and Taiwan by over $20k each.

Let's be real homie. The Chinese have made incredible strides since the 1970's, including privatizing enough of their economy and mobilizing enough of their industry to become a tremendous force in export markets of consumer goods. But to say they, as in most chinese people, are on socially and economically on par with people living in deveolped countries with similar standards of living is fucking laughable.

Pollution is a serious problem everywhere in the country industrial processes, construction, and natural resource exploitation are active; which is to say almost everywhere. There are almost no practical controls on pollution and corruption is still rife, leading what regulations exist to be largely ignored. Infrastructure.... is great for a third world or developing country. It is far from "top notch". I would argue that the MTA in just about any major American city is far superior to that in Beijing or Shanghai, and the highway networks in china are seriously lacking compared to those in the US and EU.
>>
>>34489691
I've lived in Germany and Italy, I've lived in various places in the ME, I've lived in China.

China outside the biggest cities is far from what other posters are claiming. It's kinda a shithole. I never saw people taking dumps in the middle of plazas or sidewalks, but even in alleyways and such it is a FAR cry from doing it in a treeline. I have, myself, watched parents help their children relieve themselves in restaurants and other public places. I think it is absurd to say all the filthy and backward behavior is purely the fault of a class of country folk, and my experience in the countryside led me to conclude that central Iraq is more civilized.

London is DEFINITELY a third world shithole, lol. At least most of it.

I am not claiming India is any better, never did that was somebody else maybe. I am saying that to tout the wealth and development of China the way I've been seeing in this thread is.... well it's inaccurate to say the least.
>>
>>34489691
In addition; yes there are dirt roads everywhere in the world. But to say that the infrastructure somewhere is excellent there is absurd. Between Shanghai and Zhujiajao we are not talking about an unpaved road to a remote property or connecting rural farms. We are talking about two cities in southern china which are connected, partially, by dirt and unpaved roads. Roads populated with the same kind of bongo trucks loaded down with livestock, goods, people, etc. that one commonly sees in third world and developing countries, but not places like North America or Europe with rare exceptions like Mexico and Romania.
>>
Fact is that China does high investment to improve infrastructure everywhere.

That it takes some time in a country with a higher population than Europe and North America together is logical.
>>
>>34489866

And so.. it is inaccurate to say China has excellent or top notch infrastructure. Will it improve in the future? Probably, yeah. Will it improve faster than in say, India? Probably, yeah.

Ditto the standards of living, per capita GDP and individual incomes, and myriad other things. As of now however, as a decade ago, it's still a developing country where the majority of the land is underdeveloped and the majority of the population is struggling to make the transition from the 19th century to the 21st. For the time being China has more in common with Nigeria than Japan or France.
>>
>>34489897
>it is inaccurate to say China has excellent or top notch infrastructure.

Big cities and important regions have indeed top notch infrastructure already.
>>
It's pretty simple.

You can't be the world wide hub of manufacture and logistics with subpar infrastructure. China knows that the best - see the investments for the new silk road or the Africa investments.
>>
>>34489928
I've been to three, and I beg to differ. It's great for a third world or developing country, but hardly "top notch". Baghdad, Lagos, Mumbai. etc. All have city water and electric, paved streets, etc as well, and like Shanghai Guangzhou, and Beijing, I would hardly call them "top notch" when all pale in comparison to most average sized North American or European cities.

Regardless, I said in my first comment that there WERE places which are dressed up well to be presented to the world as the face of China. However, they are not representative of the vast majority of the country.
>>
>>34490000
>any city in North America

Europe is for most time better than anything in the USA but cities like Shanghai, Beijing are on par toTokyo or Singapore.

Maybe you should visit some Chinese cities for real.
>>
Some economic experts have argued that the development gap between China and other emerging economies such as Brazil, Argentina and India can be attributed to a large extent to China's early focus on ambitious infrastructure projects, notably mass transport and transit related projects. While China invested roughly 9% of its GDP on infrastructure in the 1990s and 2000s, most emerging economies invested only 2% to 5% of their GDP. This considerable spending gap allowed the Chinese economy to grow at near optimal conditions while many South American economies suffered from various development bottlenecks (poor transportation networks, aging power grids, mediocre schools...).

Which is funny, because it is completely false. The US started helping China technically and financially under President Nixon and continues to disburse aid today. Along with the US aid China has received UN aid for decades and even from Japan starting in the late 70's. If not for Nixon's desire to drive a bigger wedge between the USSR and China it is extremely unlikely that China would be where it is now. Even the billions China continues to receive in aid are just a drop in the bucket as it were, but to say the Chinese modernized completely on their own is fallacious. The Western World, led by the US, has helped both monetarily and by training Chinese professionals (engineers, scientists, doctors, etc.) for decades.

>Today you learned that China received around $5 Billion from the US alone in aid between 1999 and 2003 and receives around $2.5 Billion in aid yearly

Nixon became president in 1969 and although if it true that Nixon (and later Reagan) was crucial for China to improve economical.

It's fact that China had literally nothing left at the end of the war.
>>
>>34490357
If you mean the second world war, yes. That is true. And what did Maoist China accomplish between the end of WWII and rapprochement besides starving or murdering around 50 million people? Hell, look at pictures of Shanghai in the 80's or even early 90's and compare them to today.

China had nothing at the end of the war, and still had nothing 25+ years later. They were saved by opening relations with the West and being courted away from the Soviets. The reason China is what is is today is because the US saw an opportunity to deprive the USSR of a partner at a moment when the Chinese and Soviets were growing apart.

All evidence points to the J20 being another mediocre entry into the lists of world military equipment, and it isn't even out of testing either. We will see if they are ever fielded in worthwhile numbers or if only a token amount are produced for PR purposes then the whole program buckles under the weight of the endemic corruption within the PLA/PLAAF. They are after all still mostly flying obsolete Russian aircraft (or copies rather) and the best fighters they have are a couple dozen Su-27's and copies of the SU-27.
>>
>>34485218
Why not? With India eating most of the losses, China with its inexperienced military (which while numerically bigger, achieves those numbers by fielding obsolete units such as fucking cavalry and T-34s), and America actually looking forward to seeing China knocked down a peg in spite of the fact that China is its major trade partner, visiting China and replacing the leadership with someone pro-Russian sounds like a potentially lucrative deal. They might even get western aid to do it.

The US would respond to such an attack however it saw fit. Some member nations of NATO might join in, as they saw fit. NATO as an entity would have no obligation to go to war because the attack didn't occur within their area of responsibility.

NATO is a very specific thing with a very defined focus. China attacking Guam or Hawaii is not on their worry list.

Former damage control guy here. I dunno about weaponry and sensors and whatnot, but they give every indication of having a glass jaw. They can't take a hit.

A while ago the shills were really playing up how China was keeping costs under control by building naval hulls in commercial yards to commercial specs. From what I can see of frame spacing and dimensions in leaked pics, that is indeed the case. I've also spotted other blunders, like water tight doors installed backward. They apparently fixed that flaw in an entire class of ships after some people got hurt. That video might still be floating around the internet.

Right now they're really playing up how they're cranking out new hulls in record time. That indicates to me that they know they're building a disposable navy. When shit gets serious, they'll do some damage, inflict some losses and then evaporate.

Think of the PLAN as being a 3D printed gun- neat design; innovative technology and materials; repeatable and economical build, just not very durable and functionally limited.

Ok. First off, I was more specifically working for a subcontractor of LHM as a QRF team leader and trainer/mentor/advisor for the Iraqi QRF company. Spent almost three years on that job.

2014 was exciting and all the security guys basically got a paid vacation to dubai for a couple weeks after the evacuation. When we got back on the ground a couple months later the base, Balad, was all tore to shit since the militia had moved in during the fighting and the south african dudes who stayed behind just let them, and were basically paying rent to giving the militia company equipment, fuel, etc.

Last August some militia fag refused to let the K9 sniff his vehicle on his way in the East Gate, and then shot at said dog and handler. The south african supervisor at the gate did exactly what I learned to expect those faggots to do and lifted the drop arm so homeboy could drive on base unhindered, then waited almost 10 minutes to call QRF on the radio for support. He actually called the head south african first, spoke only in afrikaans, and QRF didn't really get the call until the TOC ordered a team to the gate. Fat pussy had ONE job. ONE job.... he didn't get fired, they just moved him to an internal ECP. Far as I know he was never reprimanded at all except by me and the other two QRF team leaders who responded to the gate.

Last winter a drone started making overflights of the restricted areas of the base, especially the area where the F16's were housed. After a half dozen increasingly bold flights over the flightline we were given permission to shoot it down, which was quickly rescinded as "only Iraqis will be allowed to shoot it down". So we got to just watch it buzz around and presumably mark points of interest for future sabotage or mortar fire. By the time I left, not long ago, the flights became less frequent and the mortars never happened but I was 100% done at that point.

More? Should I be greentexting?

Continuing I guess?

It was actually the second most austere deployment I've had outside the military. No US mil presence, or even state dept. or any other US gov except for a couple contracting officers from the corps of engineers, meant no quality control on living conditions or amenities. Gym on the camp that housed most of the expats and all the LHM employees was nice, and they had a big store run by an Albanian cocksucker who knew he could get away with putting a 100-150% markup on... everything... but on the camp housing all the LN and most of the TCN employees the gym was.. an outdoor affair.. and about two years into the contract some enterprising Iraqis opened a smaller and slightly more reasonable store and later restaurant that unfortunately kept getting shut down as the Iraqi base commander shook them down for bribes. Internet always sucked and was so hilariously unreliable on that camp that I had the tech support guys on speed dial and ended up making friends with several of them. Some other fuckery was always going on with other departments being lazy and cutting corners to maintain the bottom line at the cost of supporting the mission, and it was virtually impossible to keep out armored vehicles running properly, maintained, or even rolling on tires that weren't bald. It was kinda eye opening I suppose as prior to that I had worked almost exclusively on DoD and State programs where there was always stuff to bitch about, but supply was rarely and issue and the trains always ran on time as it were. There was no mail service unless you wanted to pay $400 to $1k+ to ship something via DHL or later fedex that would arrive out in town, if it did... rotations for US personnel were insane too, four weeks of leave PER YEAR while the South Africans were all on 90/30 or 105/35 rotations. but the pay was AMAZING.. like, almost double what I made on my previous program which was also six figure, so that was nice.

Cont.?
>>
>>34492915
Fuck, for double pay I'd put up with no toilet paper.

Keep em coming, good shit.
>>
>>34492950
k, I'm turning in soon so if you have a specific question ask.

>>34492915
Let's see.. some of the soldiers were good, or at least we could've done great things with them if we'd been allowed to set up a proper training course/school for them, but it was often a challenge getting many of them to actually work or train, especially at night when all they wanted to do was hide somewhere or button up in the technical-up armors we got them and sleep. Our LN team members were mostly good and many had extensive experience working for coalition forces during the occupation and/or with security companies, and we even had some who were former ISOF and militia types. Some of the soldiers were former militia too who switched to the army in mid to late 2015 for a better pay check and an opportunity to work somewhere other than Beyji/Falluja/Ramadi where their chances of getting killed or wounded were exponentially higher. I got one cat who was like a war hero in one of the bigger militias and basically joined the army because he decided he'd rather serve Iraq than Iran.. took a huge paycut and turned out to be a great kid. He got tired of the army later and deserted to go join the PMF after the Iraqi parliament made it an official part of the security forces. I lost contact with him after he went to the offensive in mosul a few weeks after it started, and a couple of the other guys told me he was killed around Christmas time. One of the soldiers showed me a facebook video commemorating him, standard propaganda but choked me up a bit. he was a good kid, hard worker, more idealistic than is normal for young Iraqis.
>>
>>34493056
One of the other LN's was an Iranian-Kurd who was a veteran of the first Gulf war and had spent 2003-present working for US forces and security companies. Dude was a fucking IED magnet but really wonderful person. One of my American coworkers (from East LA and mexican as FUCK) happened to be a former marine who had ALSO been in the first gulf war, so that conversation was pretty funny. The Kurd, Fawzi, was like "ohh ohh, I uh, I didn't fight the Americans... I uh, ran away..." and the marine guy was like "Sure you did, pal.." and we all had a good laugh.

I used to bring my computer to work and play movies for the guys when we had downtime if they worked hard and did well in our training events. Oddly enough all anyone wanted to watch was American war movies, especially Black Hawk Down, Lone Survivor, and (lol) American Sniper. We all watched 13 HRS together once it came out and I got a decent copy off torrent. In 2016 we took over training of the perimeter force of soldiers too and they were even more of a mixed bag than the guys on QRF, but mostly were willing to train if you treated them right, but they were always complaining that the training was too repetitive and wanted to do more than what we were assigned. It was understandable because basically all we were allowed to teach THOSE guys for the first couple months were how to man their post, call up reports to their toc, and use their weapons.

There was some wicked flooding in the fall of 2015 too, lmao. Like, heaviest the region had seen in decades. We were training, patrolling, and living with 2-4 feet of water on the ground all over base for about a week. I'd post a pic but all I have are videos from my phone

This is what chow usually looked like throughout 2016. It was better in 2015 when there was a bunch of money getting spent on it, and started getting better this year shortly before I left. My guys still on program say it's hit or miss these days, but usually ok. Hell of a lot better than what the soldiers get, holy shit lemme tell ya.. dudes would basically get like, some bread and a cup of stewed beans and rice that might have some chicken in it. The Army also limited them to like 2-3 bottles of water, per man, per day that they had to ration for drinking, shaving, hygiene (including washing their uniform) etc. That situation got better in the second half of 2016 as we build them new barracks and alert facilities and convinced the army to give them more to drink.. but they were still pretty much getting 4-5 bottles per day.. even in the summer. Kinda crazy.
>>
>>34493173
Gnarly fire from either summer 2016 or 2015. I forget. Brush fires were common, and constant, because Iraqis both like to burn all their trash pretty much wherever if there isn't a dumpster placed conveniently and prefer burning dry brush to clearing it by hand. The farmers outside the perimeter were the big offenders, but the guys doing brush clearing on base had some notable fuck ups with fire too. Hilarious watching them try to put shit out sometimes.

You lack reading comprehension if you think I "admitted" china was "great". I'd tell you to read more carefully but I have a feeling you came in here with a certain conclusion already.

Well, I think that's an overstatement to call them ungrateful. They were given attention, prestige (a seat on the UNSC for basically no reason but to poke at the Soviets), and aid.. but it was all for the purpose of weakening the position of the Soviets... and China played it's part.

No indication whatsoever that they build to commercial standard.
Chinese ships take as long as US ships to fit out and commission.
They just seem fast because they produce them in parallel and in multiple yards at the same time.

You Burgers sure have ways to explain away the capabilities of your rivals... It's pathetic. Go and crash into cargo ships some more.

Aid money prob comes from global NGOs

I mean, USA sold china their old manufacturing equipment, it wasn't exactly a "free donation"

Taiwan need to keep up their 'true China' facade even if they've accepted the reality of being Taiwan for all practical purposes because publicly renouncing their claims to China, Mongolia, and Tuva would be tantamount to a declaration of independence and give PRC the justification they need to invade the island. The situation as it is now is that ROC and PRC officially recognise that there is only one china, and merely disagree upon who controls it; So even though ROC have effectively accepted that they're Taiwan now they must maintain their ridiculous claims in order to avoid invasion by the PRC. It's a pretty fucked up situation mang

with the exception of china they weren't fully invaded during that time. and they had backing of the communists during their various wars.

>No indication whatsoever that they build to commercial standard.

Except for a few years worth of Chinkposting here, a flood of Weibo posts going back to 2013 or so and countless Xinhua articles detailing the same thing. Propaganda aside, the 'leaked' photos from shipyards, and the various photos showing interior shots of PLAN ships very clearly show economy-class construction, not milspec. Frame spacing, profile, and thickness are all indicators. As are hull and interior plating thickness and attachment methods. Pro tip- staggered beads saves time and money until you get hit.

>Chinese ships take as long as US ships to fit out and commission.

Really? Up until a month ago, you guys were ranting about how you could build and outfit a warship in 2/3 the time it took the US. Why the sudden change?

>They just seem fast because they produce them in parallel and in multiple yards at the same time.

And your post just seems like desperate damage control because you're changing the official narrative from just a few weeks ago. I'm really interested to see what's being covered up that has you scrambling like a rat in a firestorm to promulgate the new party line.

>Go and crash into cargo ships some more.

Aha. A clue. It must have been a nasty shock to you guys when the Fitz didn't sink.
