Old one is banging on the limiter

How does this thing work??
>>
>>34481419
Looks like a black powder revolving shotgun.
Honestly hard to tell without knowing what it is.
It would likely be similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbKDkOAi6Mo
But the forward trigger would probably be a cylinder release to manually index the cylinder.
>>
>>34481419
It doesn't work because it's not a real gun, just a piece of "art".

What's the single most durable model of semi-automatic rifle?

>inb4 hurr durr define durable

I'm talking about its ability to withstand these types of things:

>Particulate like sand blowing around in the air while the weapon is cycling (eg. shooting in a sandstorm)
>Water, mud and sludge being flung around while the weapon is cycling (eg. fighting from concealment in a swamp)
>Extreme temperatures, including the effects of frozen moisture (eg. left outside while camping inna tundra)
>Physical impact of all kinds, to all parts of the weapon, in all stages (eg. fell out of moving truck)

A nice bonus would be if a similar model can be found in both a full battle rifle caliber and an intermediate cartridge.

>inb4 hurr durr why do you want that are you going to abuse your gun

I just want to know the answer to the question

I want a recommendation for a new handgun for carry. I'm not averse to weight (I carry quite a bit for hours on end anyway with my construction tool belt) but dimension is a bit hard to get around. All below are listed in 9mm. I have a bit of a stockpile of 9mm, so i'd rather keep to the one caliber.

My options so far (that I liked) were before taxes:

$390 for Ruger American compact 9mm. I really liked that this one had the thumb safety. I like thumb safeties tbqh, probably because I grew up shooting my uncle's old 1911. I also teach a lot of people to shoot (liberal city), so having that extra safety feature has been, to say the least, handy in the past.

Walther PSS: $299 with factory rebate, PPQ would be about $50 more at my LGS. PPQ had an INCREDIBLE trigger, probably one of the best I've ever felt (certainly for a striker-fired), but was a bit big for me to imagine carrying everywhere. My current nightstand/carry holds 12 rounds (Millenium G2), so the PPS was a bit of a step down in that regard. This is probably one of the better values just in terms of cost effectiveness.

H&K P2000sk $500. I really like this one due to the size, how it felt in my hand, and how sturdy it felt. I did NOT like the magazine release (it just didn't feel like my finger wanted to bend quite that way, in contrast I have no issue with using the paddle release on the VP9 or P30). I've never owned H&K products, but I hear they last basically forever.

All those guns seemed pretty nice, so if anyone has hands on experience with any of them I'd like to hear it.
>>
>>34483508
CZA I think makes single shots, and you can send them back to the factory for free iron sights instead of the stock scope mount rings.

>>34483899
No. 12 gauge takes deer just fine, it'll do well on a human too. Ideally it isn't one with a massive barrel, since that could get unwieldy. Shotguns cause pretty nasty wounds, even with bird-shot.
>>
>>34483997
Skip the Ruger and H&K

PPS is very slim, and lends to easy carry. Plus very similar to larger Walthers, which would be a boon over a Taurus.
>>
Did some research, and couldn't really find an answer.

When bracing a rifle against your shoulder, what's the appropriate level of force? I imagine you'd want the gun as tight into your shoulder as possible

>>34483787
depends on "your" preference of gun. to accomplish what you define as "durable" you will want something with an adjustable gas system and piston. vepr and saiga's you can buy an adjustable gas block and you can get them in "full battle rifle". if you want to "break" you weapon and still have it fire, your fighting the wrong battle. ultimately it depends on how much cash is burning a hole in your pocket as to what youd want to purchase.

>>34481419
It's based on the old 1855 Colt revolving rifles. None of the real ones had double triggers, but I'm assuming whoever carved this meant for it to be pair of set triggers like a Sharps, trigger in back is pulled and gives front trigger a easier pull.

Saw an AR15 at the local gun show with a heat shield in place of the handguard, what looked like an M16a1 upper, a mil-spec adjustable stock, some kind of sniper scope attacked to the carrying handle, and a 90 round drum mag chambered for .223 all for $650
The seller already left though by the time I came back to buy it because it was just a few minutes away from closing time when I did
Assuming it's still there tomorrow, should I pick it up? The guy said it was one of the original AR15s from the 90s and he updated the internals a bit
Seems like one of those deals that's too good to be true, I'm worried there's something wrong with it for it to be that cheap

Looking to get an optic mounted on my Hakim, something akin to how the old Rem Model 8's, FN-49s and other such guns would get optics mounted off to the side because of how the dustcover/bolt/clip holder are on top and I'd prefer not to just screw a weaver rail into the wood on the handguard above the gas tube.

First post on /k/

My Ruger 10/22 auto bolt release does not work as it is supposed to, when I lock back the bolt it does not get released again by just pulling back the bolt.

What do?
>>
>>34488540
Go for 25m bullseye on the 300 Setting, this means your trajectory is flat enough so you dont have to adjust much for out to 300. Thats what I do with my akm, but yet again, ist only effective out to 300 something.
>>
>>34488726
The Ruger 10/22 does not have an auto bolt release.
So if you didn't put one in obviously that's the problem. Otherwise whichever aftermarket one you installed is the problem.
>>
>>34488742

I am aware, I modified mine and it always worked fine.
Had the rifle standing in the gun vault for like a year, assembled it again yesterday and the auto bolt release refused to work properly.
>>
Does anybody else here shoot roaches?
If so what do you use?
I had an airsoft pistol but I dropped it and it broke.
>>
>>34488745
the spring in the trigger has to be pushing down on the bolt release and also pushed down by another pin from the top

looking up a install video might show you something off with your trigger group

I seek the wisdom of the /k/ube. Can you reliably (within reasonable variance) kill a man with 1-5 rounds of subsonic .22 LR from a 5" barrel at 25 yards? Where would one aim to achieve this? What if the target were wearing a protective vest? A plate carrier?

The nose hole. Not only is getting shot in the face with anything going to suck, but suffocating and choking on your own blood is going to be less fun. It also gives you a general, center of mass target to shoot for. If you miss left or right, there's a high likelihood it's going to skip into the eye socket. Hit low, it's going to knock teeth out and or skip down the back of your throat. Hit high and it's going to be a real star maker to take one to the forehead.

If you're shooting the 60gr through a silencer, yes.
If trying to shoot accurately beyond 25 yards, yes.
If neither of the above apply, they're accurate enough at less than 25yds with standard 1:16 twist barrels to get the job done.

Alright, I do intend to use a suppessor so what twist rate should I get? The 10/22 has a 16" 1:9 for them, would I want a different twist for a 5" handgun barrel? 1:11 or quicker. 1:9 is the most common aftermarket, or up to 1:7 if using ar15 w/22lr conversion.

>10/22 w/ suppressor
Don't bother, unless you plan to tune it to just run the 60gr (i.e. heavier bolt and/or recoil spring). The short case means much more port noise as the chamber opens to the atmosphere much sooner. Combined with the increased backpressure from a silencer the port noise is pretty loud.

Use a bolt gun, IMO, or maybe one of those goofy magnetic plates that stick to the 10/22 bolt to make it a single-shot/bolt-action of sorts.

Pistol? I dunno. I've never shot them suppressed through a pistol. I do carry them in a little beretta basically for feral dogs innawoods around here.

If you have a threaded barrel, you could try shooting them through the pistol and see if they show any signs of keyholing. If none seen, you could just take your chances that you won't get a baffle strike.

Otherwise, you're probably looking at some custom work, either installing a 1:9 liner in an existing barrel, or a complete custom barrel, depending upon what pistol you're using.

Well what rifle before I sign off my approval.

I have a revolver on my work desk and a AR pistol I check noises with. Do you have teenagers, child or other shit to worry about? Parents? Lol

The weapon system is a very very small part of a home defense plan.

My system goes like this, I have nothing to worry about getting ahold of my guns so they're out in the open in places where I'm most likely to be at a time of a break in.

I have a dog that's worth his weight in a fight and very observant but I can't have him around strangers or children because he's blood thirsty as fuck and that's a more realistic problem.

I don't use a flash light because I have no teenagers potentially sneaking in at 2am.

So when You ask if you should replace your rifle with a shotgun I need more information.

Do you live in an apartment? Are there sneaky teens? Will you even be woken up before someone is pummeling you in your sleep? Wifey gunna shoot you in the head because your fucking her sister? Will you be able to retrieve your firearm fast enough? Give me all the information you can without doxxing yourself.

Are black powder weapons suitable for someone who has no idea about shooting whatsoever?

I've been going to the shooting range for a while now, i really enjoy it and i'm sure i'd enjoy it even more with my own weapon - caring about it, cleaning, adjusting adjustable things, it all sounds fun as hell. Now, i don't live in glorious united states of freedom, so i'd have to spend a lot of money and time to get license for normal weapons (i enjoy old guns more than modern ones anyway, so it doesn't really mater to me). Black powder guns are perfectly legal in my country, and i saw of really cool ones (like pic related), so now i'm kinda wondering about getting one. There are no black powder guns available on the shooting range though.

Is black powder gun replica difficult to handle and manage properly, or would you call it a good choice for beginner?

They're accurate, if you can shoot them. They're very cheaply built, the finish will rust, the trigger is thin, but they are generally reliable except for the slide hold open which will tend to slip down when the empty mag is dropped.

Good training guns. Not terrible budget CCW pieces due to their thin profile as well, just not well finished.

The Aero upper also has a brass deflector and my current upper doesn't, which bothers me because I'm left-handed. What do?

>>
>>34502704
Just did a quick look at their website. The #3 step only comes up if you select the option to bill and ship to separate addresses, otherwise it skips #3.

Both #2 and #3 have the "shipping to FFL" checkboxes.

Typically you'd put your info in here again, but since an FFL is being used, I don't think it matters one bit. They're going to ship to the premise address on the FFL regardless.
You could put either, or go back to step #2 and select "ship and bill to this address". Just make sure the FFL contact info is correct.

I didn't look into their website to see whether you are to ask your FFL to send a copy of their license to them (usually how it is done) or if they are going to contact the FFL for a copy.

tl;dr you could put whatever you want in #3, but they won't send it to any address except the premise address on the FFL.

How feasible is long term 22lr out of a user serviceable 5.56 suppressor?

I want a suppressor primarily for shooting 22lr out of an AR bolt conversion, so I can train cheap on my property without bothering my neighbors too much. I want a 5.56 suppressor too but don't really feel like spending an extra $500+$200 since it will probably be a range toy. I understand that excessive lead deposition can induce keyholing in the baffles and destroy the suppressor. I have no intent of using the suppressor with .223/5.56 after shooting any significant amount of 22lr, without cleaning it first. What I need to know is...

>How much of a meme is the claim that molten deposited lead will solder the threads of the can together, making it unserviceable.
>If this does occur, shouldn't I just be able disassemble the can since lead is soft as shit or would I damage the housing/threads trying to torque on the can?
>If the later, couldn't I just drop the whole thing in a cleaning solution to dissolve the lead if it was soldered shut?
>>
>>34514583
Not an issue with a user serviceable.
Maybe if you shoot 50K rounds before cleaning it.
Just do the DOT5 pretreatment and forget about it.

Even a welded can could be cleaned with "the dip" if you don't mind creating a little lead sugar in the process.
