This is why we need unions.
I make $22/hr roofing, son.

Before that I built trails for the Forest Service, which is way more fun but pays less. Probably gonna go back to doing that next season.

Have 2 degrees I'm not using btw. Having a 4-year in something is super worth it in general because even if you don't go into that field you're gonna get picked over people without one. Once you get into advanced degrees you start getting into "overqualified" territory however.

Trade school will without a doubt make you more money though.

Having a bit of mechanical aptitude will certainly help. I spent 3.5 years as an apprentice and that gave me a good base to work from. Before that the only knowledge I had was fixing my car and motorbike.

You will find some days are easy and other days are back breaking with the added bonus of being covered head to toe in grease and oil. Be prepared for a bit of manual labour.

Now I pretty much just work with cylinder heads, valve train and fuel systems as part of a large engine workshop, it's life on easy mode.

It's really easy to get into if you have steady hands and can read electrical schematics.

Poorfag here - recommend a side hustle, and spend as you make money from the side hustle. Your real job and real paycheck should go towards expenses and responsible adult stuff.

In my case: Work 35-40 hours a week, 9.50 an hour - this is handed to the master of finances (wife unit) and she handles it as she sees fit.

Go to college afternoons, on off days donate plasma, earn about 75 total per week for about 6 hours of standing in line/sitting and having the plasma drawn. Use the wait time to study. This is my gun money.

I work out of our central office in Trenton. I work cases that involve fraud, tax evasion and general cases where people simply haven't paid. It kind of bothers the conservative/libertarian inside of me, but I justify it by telling myself that everyone else is paying taxes so why should these few (around 15-20k people) get out of their responsibility.

Just so everyone knows its less than half of what he's stating outside of remote shitholes. where you make 25$ an hour even at tim hortons, and everything costs 2-3 times as much. In your average city they make 35 dollars an hour max. Half of rcmp officers make 100+ grand to do nothing all day. He'll also try to make you believe his job is challenging and not just dumb bullshit labor. if he gave half a fuck and had half a brain he would be a project manager or engineer. Trades are for people with no options or guys who get girls knocked up when they're 19 by accident. its an okay living but nothing to brag about.

It's lame as hell but I get to say I work security at the state building housing the Governor's office and Department of Corrections, all I do is watch cameras and a nightly patrol but it looks good on a resume.

$14/hr and usually some overtime (46hrs last pay period), pays for my guns and I'm getting /fit/ to go guard and shoot for real security work or an LEO position. (It's the only job type I actually like, that or simmilarly structured jobs where your coworkers safety relies on you, like firefighting, shit that has more consequences than late TPS reports)

Maybe I'll just go back to looking for a welding job and hate making money until I die rich and unfulfilled.

I'm a night owl and I don't mind working weekends since that's when my gf works as well. Twelve hour shifts suck at first, but you get used to them. It usually ends up being around thirteen hours depending how long change of shift takes on either end. But I work three days in a row and then I'm off for four. Plus I get bonuses for working nights and weekends.

Wrong side of the cunt-ry.
It's Union is all.
I don't pay for my benefits directly, my dues are like $1,000 a year and that covers pension, vision, health, dental. We have a 401k from the company which is separate from our union pension.
If it makes you feel better management treats us like absolute dog shit and blames everything on us. They purposely fuck with us with scheduling and if you, for example, hurt your foot they assign you to the job with the most walking or if you hurt your back you get the most lifting. If I didn't make insane money I would leave immediately.
>>
>>34502576
>Delivery driver
>10$/hr

>good

The only way to become middle class is to do skilled work. You don't have to pay to go to college to become a skilled worker. There are many real jobs with benefits that pay significantly more than a delivery boy if you're willing to apprentice to become skilled. You get paid as an apprentice to learn and work and get paid more when your education is complete. Doesn't matter so much what the niche is, but the smaller the supply of people with skills and the larger the demand the more you get paid. It's easy to look online to find what trades are in particular demand and how what pay is like. Depending on what you do, it's easily better pay than a basic bitch college degree.

I know too many people that have fallen into the unskilled labor rut. Real opportunities don't exist there.

That's how you die. Not gonna say what I do, but my best friends move pounds to pay the bills and they'd likely start shooting because life is so strained in this profession that they don't care about their lives. Friends and family don't talk to you, you're always on edge and every cop out there feels like an enemy. So, good luck.
>>
>>34502576
How the fuck you getting $10/hr? I got like $7 when I worked there, and way more in tips. Major city?

Honestly one of the best jobs I ever had, but it wears on your car too much. I also felt like it made me way too comfortable with driving and risky decisions for speed driving; talked to some of the others there about it and they thought something like that after a while, too.

I also did it with an AA and no debt though, so you're at a good start there.

It'll depend on where and when you catch them but tweaked out druggies tend not to be the most aware of people.

If you really wanted to have the best chance at raiding a drug dealer away from their drug den is probably best. Will get way less money but a lone attacker assaulting someone on the defense with home turf advantage is beyond stupid.

I have about 70k in the bank and ride a dune buggy around on the weekends, I also can pull a fair amount of tail. I still feel like a loser in my own life and a failure in the eyes of my family. I am almost completely alienated from my work and desperately feel the need for something new.
