Lame. At least when burgers do their ridiculous future soldier power suit mock ups for trade shows and recruitment drives, it is at least done with the implicit knowledge that, if it ever actually came down to it, they could afford to field more than two. The Russians cant even say that much.

First of all - it's a concept from private company.
Second - they're ODST.

He's not wrong.

There's serious doubts that Russia will meet its targets of 70% modernization by 2020, given they started at 30% in 2015. There's just not enough money for it.

Cause they have to be the best technological branch, cause we know the marines won't be.

But frankly, the us should be able to do this, just they don't put funding where it should be. Instead they focus on welfare and health insurance for everyone.

Important question here. Can that dude look down? Looks to me like his face protector would bump into his starship troopers armor and he'd never be able to tie his shoes.

Having a volunteer army, and not wanting to fund benefits is a quick way to hemorrhage troops that are already skilled and to loose potential recruits

Unless Trump decides to loosen the noose, by the next US presidential election Russia will be borrowing money to keep their government afloat. Those two decades of deficit reduction by Putin will be for naught.

i suppose this is not meant for actual military but something like riot police where you are in danger of people hitting you in the head with blunt/sharp objects, having a closed helmet with a gas mask incorporated could also help deal with any tear gas.
As such you would have both a reliable helmet and a gas mask if shit hits the fan.

becouse the entire suit is a 1 piece, which means that if you get shot and a hole gets punched into it you gotta throw the entire thing away.
With moder ceramic plates it doesn't matter how many of them break becouse you can always make more and are WAY cheaper than building entire suits from the ground up

top fucking kek dude, do you really think that applies to combat troops? tip from experience, If you're not a pogue, you're doing one of 5 things pretty much every waking moment: actually fighting/patrolling, jerking off, attending sexual harassment classes, doing stupid make-work your officers have cooked up to keep everyone out of trouble, or PTing/training.

lol
>>
>>34493711
the only impossible thing about ODST armour is the visor of the helmet, that thing I agree its a few years of our current technology the rest is very doable imo, its not a power armor.

but the power armor on the Fallout universe has a fugging nuclear reactor on its back

>>
>>34495930
The visor's not even that difficult desu. I mean fighter jet helmets generally do the same thing. Obviously the aesthetic is lost because you have to move the visor farther from the eyes, but helmet mounted displays exist already, and it'd be fairly easy to have a crosshair on it based on where a gun is pointing, either with an IR laser on the gun or just a couple of ir sensors mounted on the helmet and gun (or just use a laser pointer lmao)

>>34480312
You don't need a fricking sealed suit to deal with teargas or vomitive gas. A normal gas mask is OK. Riot gear is still going to require major cleaning if you get powder on it, regardless of wether it's sealed or not.

Teargas/powder burns if it comes into contact with your body fluids. i.e, either you get some into your eyes, nose, throat, arse, whatever. But it is only a mild irritant via dry skin contact.

(And yes, a lot of countries' police departments also use vomitive gas/powder because it's more effective at stopping or repelling crowds. You can't do much while you're puking your guts out, but you can still do shit while your eyes are burning. Temporarily blinding a bunch of people under stress is kind of a traffic hasard, as they can't be as aware of their surroundings while rushing out of the cloud-of-pain.)
