post aesthetic and unique military dress, parade uniforms or even interesting combat attire

All politics aside, the NVA will always have one of my favorite uniforms and marches.

That's because their marches are communist hyms transformed into "marches". What you hear in the first video is the Internationale, the anthem of the socialist world republic.

Imagine how they felt doing their last parade.

the soviet red army memorial in Berlin-Treptower Park.. probably the coolest and by far biggest war monument west of stalingrad.
i've been there, fucking great

Morale went to absolute shit.
From what I can gather from photographs and video footage of the last days of the NVA, many guys were struggling not to burst into tears.
Poland's dress uniforms look awesome
>>34478969
Is it common for NVA vets to meet there? Also how was that guy able to bring an MPi there?
I actually sat down and designed a uniform for fun. Will post some pics I used when making it.

I always liked having no pockets on a dress uniform. Everyone now a days uses the standard four pocket scheme it seems.

wish people would stop using camo in dress uniforms. it's everywhere in combat fatigues, why not do something different when you have the chance?
>>34482692
Walk into an Army recruiting station or office and 9/10 they are wearing ACU or OCP.
The ASU is awful office wear. Even in Class B, with all the dangles and shine on it its uncomfortable and the Beret is terrible.
That's why most guys wear their fatigues instead..Its comfortable, the cap is useful, and it only has the most important stuff on display Rank, Name, Airborne/Pathfinder/ect, and patches.
>>34482692
they usually do it dressed like this
Honestly, the uniforms of WW2 where likely the best the US ever had. Some things could be meddled with, but overall it was superb.

Putees were good.
The things I miss are peaked caps, jodhpurs, swords, greatcoats, tall boots for officers, and iron heels for the men. When your lads march they should sound like someone is ringing a martial bell with officers standing out and NCO's keeping the lads in line with a wave of the sword.

Hold up Anon! I'll agree on paratrooper uniforms and that officer uniform in your pic. But aside from that shit looked kinda lame imo. Wasn't stylish and well fitted like the German uniform or practical and modern like the US Vietnam uniforms.

you should walk across the hall next time and stop in on the Marines
Dress Blue Delta or Charlies all day every day
(if you see us in civi's its because we're off the clock or about to be or have accomplished all of the necessary work for that day ie paperwork)

Best the US had, not the best they could have had. I have a few pieces of German uniform and one thing I can tell you is that they put a lot of thought into it and some smart design choices (though being German, they can over complicate things as well)
To me a uniform is one of the most important pieces in a military. Soldiers must like what they wear, feel powerful and comfortable. It should look refined and martial, holding the full weigh of the country's pride on it's shoulders. If its goofy, unfitted, and uncomfortable you can degrade the morale and social function a uniform serves.
Today's uniform has some nice bits of history in it, but is a loss overall. Poor construction, fit,cap choice, color, and the horrible amounts of metal garbage you see dangling on troops chests. And the fact that everyone seems to take the same jacket design and dab a few baubles here and there makes it worse.

Last time I rolled round a MEPS station that's one thing that stuck with me. Marines, Navy, and Airforce all in office wear looking pretty sharp. Gives the right impression to those guys coming in seeing the shined, polished,, unwrinkled, and professional appearance you guys set. Then at the end of the hall is the two Army guys in ACU and OCP clomping around in boots with stuff bulging in their pockets.
Only thing that gets me about Marine uniforms is the amount of them. I understand tradition, but it seems a bit much. Talking with a friend we narrowed it to 3 kinds of uniform.
1. Dress uniform that has three classes. A with jacket and your shinies on it, B that retains the same everything, but swapped out jacket that is shorter and just has branch, rank, name, and unit that you wear in an office, C that just has a long/short sleeve under shirt with same stuff as B, just on a normal shirt.
2. Work/Utility uniform that can be used for manual labor, or in garrison. Rank and name only, tons of pockets, made to be durable and efficient. Has optional jacket with rollable sleeves, short/long sleeve over shirt or plain colored t-shirt, and trousers or cargo shorts. What you wear out of those options is based on weather and kind of work being done.
3. Field uniform. This is your cammies that you use solely for training and actual combat and mission.

Yeah, around 1990 when there were free elections and the wall went down then everyone knew the DDR's time was very limited.
NVA veterans were hit really hard since the Bundeswehr cut nearly all of them and anyone who stayed in past their mandatory conscription was looked down upon. Perhaps the only bigger blackmark one could have was having been in the Stasi or Grenztruppen. NVA veterans couldn't even claim a pension, meanwhile Wehrmacht and SS veterans could.
>Ties
>ties
>fucking ties
>fucking suits and ties
The second the suit and tie became the civilian professional uniform of choice the military shouldve thrown out anything involving a tie and shot anyone who suggested anything of the such. It doesnt fucking look military at all

What'd be a better alternative?
A Mandarin collar? Ascot? Turtleneck undershirt? Or just the tunic with nothing underneath?
>>34482758
That really needs to be frances standard dress/parade uniform
>>34488190
Mandarin collar, soldiers should have a solid and upright appearance to enhance the image of tall, powerful, and proud looking troopers.
Despite looking slightly top-heavy due to the headgear nowdays. The regiments of the Guards Division have the best uniforms still going.
But personally for historical uniforms i'm a pretty big fan of rag-tag mish-mash uniforms like confederate ones from the US civil war and the general dress from the Wars of Three Kingdoms. Allows for greater variety.
