I was thinking either Beretta's 92A1 9mm or Sig Sauer's Full Size p226 Legion. What does /k/ think I should purchase?
Get the Sig, my nig.
Wait until you're 18 or 21, depending on what state you live in, and you'll know what to buy.
>buy regular Beretta M9 or Sig P226

>spend the rest of the money on ammo
>practice the shit out of using a double action trigger

My first gun was a beretta 92F and my my second handgun was a p229. I prefer shooting my p229 but it is a thick chunk of gun. They are both accurate, I like the simplicity on the p22x series pistols and the lack of a safety a lot. You can't go wrong with either choice.

There are people that can't shoot DA? What the hell.

>There are people that can't shoot DA? What the hell.
You heard correctly. There are people that say DA/SA sucks for this very reason: they are incapable of maintaining a measly 10lb trigger pull. Next time you go to the range, find someone shooting a DA/SA gun and I will guarantee that they are always shooting SA, never decocking.
Actually, you can do this right now. Find a random video of a Beretta or Sig, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

I don't want to, I proudly declare my sig to have 9 pounds of safety and I actively practice my double action shooting.
That all sounds horrible.

All the old "wonder nines" are obsolete fudd guns these days.
Get you a polymer striker with a rail and start acting like you live in the 21st Century.
>>34477371
Keep up the good fight, DA/SA is unironically becoming somewhat of a lost art.
I don't get why people can't just practice their DA pull and 'motion' the SA pull the same way you can practice dryfiring say a Glock by sticking a piece of cardboard inbetween the ejection port.

>Get you a polymer striker with a rail and start acting like you live in the 21st Century.
Funny, I carry a Glock 19 but can run circles around you with my PX4 Compact. lol : )
>>34476787
The 92a1. Pic related. Love it.
>>34477334
>There are people that can't shoot DA?
It's actually pretty common. It's part of the reason why many LEO started switching to strikers in the last ~15 years or so. It's not just the heavy DA pull, but also the transition from DA to SA that poses just as big of a training hurdle for shooters new to DA/SA.

>I carry a Glock 19
Thanks for proving my point.
>>34477361
>find someone shooting a DA/SA gun and I will guarantee that they are always shooting SA, never decocking.
well yeah.
unless you are decocking the gun before holstering why the fuck would you ever decock it? not a single person is going to be fucking with a decocker lever before every shot.

>Beretta's 92A1 9mm or Sig Sauer's Full Size p226 Legion.
They're both good guns, but they are not in the same price category. The Legion is almost twice the price of the 92A1.

Most of my friends prefer striker fire and hate da/sa. I'm 25 and I learned with revolvers so I dont understand the hate.. Every sock da/sa trigger ive fucked with is worlds nicer than the glock/m&p ect ive fucked with... Double action is literally easy as fuck to shoot its afun challenge and then i can just shoot single action and laser that shit. I think people are just fucking weak and i can thank my gorilla grip on powerlifting.

>>34477420
So I'm weird for preferring hammer fired DA/SA pistols? Well fuck everyone else, I learned to shoot on revolvers as a kid so the transition to semiautos was easiest with DA/SA hammer fired pistols.
Regardless, we should get back on OPs topic. I still vote for the sig but I think the legion package is just a meme, sig makes a fine basic bitch firearm in the p224/6/9 series.

Glad to see all the other da/sa fags in here, OP my first gun was a beretta 92fs and I loved it. Have so many other hammer pistols now i dont mess with it much anymore but it always ran fine with no malfunctions and is asthetic af.
>>34477435
>unless you are decocking the gun before holstering why the fuck would you ever decock it?
For training and proficiency.
Also depending on the design of the gun, some guns must be fired in DA initially. The Beretta 92 can't be set on safe with the hammer cocked so unless you are carrying with the hammer cocked and the safety disengaged (or with an empty chamber), your first shot will be DA.

>mfw Wilson Combat #12 spring my PX4 Compact Carry
I have a buttery smooth 8lb DA pull and a 3.5lb SA pull that breaks right at where the DA pull does. The soft recoil on it makes me cum buckets even harder.
If I ever find a decent price on a Vertec, I'm snatching that shit up.
>>34477463
>So I'm weird for preferring hammer fired DA/SA pistols?
Nah. Eccentric tastes are commonplace throughout the gun community. It's why new lever action guns are still being produced and why some people insist on carrying meme calibers.
