A tac-50 for 6k or an original working WW2 luger for 6k?
I think the luger is a better value, personally. The tac is a cannon comparitively, but the luger will go up and up in value.
And because nazis
>>
>>34473869
lugers will never stop increasing in value
mark my words, a non matching luger will reach 50k in 50 years
>>
>>34473940
Wait, arent matching lugers worth more?
>>
>>34473969
youre missing the point
yes you idiot matching are worth more but even non matching are going for 2k right now
only way you can get a luger under a grand is if its missing parts
>>
>>34473991
This is fucking crazy.
I was just looking at a 2011 forum which showed unmatchings going for 800.
Everybody wants to be a nazi now.
>>
>>34474038
no its just that the gun community at large thinks that one of the first run of gun bans will include nazi marked guns, so lugers are in high demand
>>
Luger is probably a better value, but if someone gave me $6k and said I had to buy a firearm I'd have a really hard time NOT getting an automatic weapon of some sorts, like a Reising M50.
>>
>>34474112
I've never heard this before.

I don't think it has nearly as much to do with nazis as you guys make it sound. I think it's more due to the mechanically odd mechanism by which the Luger functions, and that it was one of the major semi automatic service pistols of the early half of the twentieth century. I have a luger that's from a production run for commercial export that ran from 1908 to 1914, and I know that they found their way into the holsters of officers and support troops as late as world war two, even when the wehrmacht had previously adopted the Walther P-38 and largely replaced the luger by the end of the early days of the war.
>>34474139
Can you even BUY a piece of shit like a reising M50 for $6K anymore? I would almost assume them to be in the next order of magnitude.

Honestly though, unpopular opinion. I don't really want to buy guns as investments, and instead I'd rather by to keep or collect and to enjoy. In this regard, because long range shooting really tickles my 'tism, I'd rather take the Macmillan Tac-50 at ~$9,000-10,000 once the optics, their required parts and the stabilizing devices are factored in and some reloading equipment to shoot it cheaper. Nothing against the luger, it's just that I have one, and I just wouldn't want to shoot it TOO much because it was given to me by my grandmother and it's at least a century old, and can't be replaced. I'd rather make an admittedly more spendy but in my opinion more rewarding project gun out of a TAC-50 over the course of months and have a big ass long range rifle to fuck around with.

>What's luger shoot like?
Trigger is figuratively a sponge, and not in a glock kind of way, there is no stack up or anything like that, if I control the recoil less it tends not to jam as quickly (might have a weak or overly stiff mainspring, in my opinion) Sights are rifle like, and follow through is a MUST if you are to hit anything. Also you might want to check the weight of your rounds, use FMJ and I suspect mine might keyhole.
>>
>>34473940
Except they have gone down in price. Ian talks about it briefly in his latest video and it's fairly well known among other collectors.
>>
>>34474540
Also this. Though I'd still contend that it has less to do with the Nazis than these guys make it sound, since they were produced from 1900-1942, meaning that of their 42 years of production, only 9 coincide with the Nazi regime.
>>
>>34474573
It has absolutely nothing to do with Nazis. Several large collectors have died in the past couple years and their collections have come to market. Supply goes up, price comes down.
>>
>>34474412
To be honest, it's not fair that the Luger gets lumped in with the nazi hate. It isn't a nazi gun. I'm aware you know this, however I'm just saying, it's a first war era weapon. Sucks that it gets lumped in with the nazi hate when it's more of a German empire weapon.
In the same way that the early mosins aren't soviet.
>>
>>34473869
It's funny how different the US and Europe is.
i can get ww2 mausers in 30.06, 7,62, and 8mm mauser for 100-200$.
I saw a matching Luger for 900$, and a p-38 for 600$.
>>
>>34474139
If someone gave me 6k I'd probably go for multiple firearms rather than just one very valuable one.

Or, something that has uncommon ammo, and fuck tons of that ammo.

for 6k I'd buy one of these parts kits and pay for a gunsmith to put it together
>>
>>34474573
No it's exactly what's happening to muscle cars and other pre-oil crisis American classic cars. Collectors are generally aging out, they're either dying or choosing to sell off their collections. While the sell off has occurred interested has either waned or stayed the same.

Norway. we have a fuckton of old mausers, some that have been bubba'd, but we got a lot of decent ones too.
I found a fallschirmjager carbine for 200$.
Kar98's were all converted to 7,62x51, or 30.06 in the military, and they have german as well as norwegian markings.
i do occasionaly see an 8mm, but they are rare.
Kongsberg made a gun based on leftover mauser parts, called m67.
those are pretty cheap as well.

In order to get pistols here, you have to be an active member of a shooting club for a while, so few collect them and just keep them for their historic value.
It's also time consuming to get permission for more than 5 guns, so most people don't bother with historic pistols/rifles.

>>34475708
nope. check finn.no and search for guns, if you're lucky you'll find someone willing to ship.
Good guns go fast, so don't expect to find piles of great guns after 2 searches.
i check every 2-3 days.

How is the gun situation in Germany? you guys only get to shoot on approved ranges right?

Yup. No innawoods allowed.

>>34474112
Maybe the video game generations are getting to the age where they can afford guns?
In the past people briefly saw them in movies, but chubby middle school kids knew how much damage they did relative to the game guns.

Goddamn I love that guy's laugh

Jesus Christ you guys are retarded. Like three months ago I bought a matching 1920 commercial for 650. I saw one matching 1920 commercial sell for 550 and a WWI era matching military proofed go for 700. If you're paying six grand for a Luger it had better be something damn special, like a Navy or a pristine matching Artillery with a snail drum, original holster, stock, belt and capture papers or some shit like that. Non-matching Lugers most definitely do not go for two. I have never once seen anyone think Lugers will be banned because of their association with Nazism, and I've been in this game for a long time. As a matter of fact I don't even see people associating Lugers much with nazism at all, especially not in collectors circles. OP, if you want to find yourself a good Luger, go to the gunboards.com trader or the lugerboards.com trader and fucking LURK CONSTANTLY. I mean it, refresh that shit every ten god damn minutes. You'll probably be able to find a decent Luger for under a grand, and you'll DEFINITELY find a Luger for under two. Even one from WWII.

Tl;dr, these guys are retarded and don't know shit about Lugers.
>>
>>34476623 <-- this guy knows whats up.

remember to refresh very frequently, there are people more autistic than you that really want lugers. it's very competitive.
>>
>>34475835
That's cool. My gf is norwegian, might have to give her money to get me one and then have it quietly shipped to the UK.

Were they common during the Quisling regime or is it just a better market for them over there?
>>
>>34476623
>1920 commerical go for 650

Holy hell, where do you find those deals?

Nice bait.
Lugers do not sell for sub $1k unless they are non-matching shooter's grade.
>>
>>34479457
Los Angeles.
>>34479469
Just because you've only been looking for ten minutes and haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. The only Luger I've paid over a thousand for was an artillery, which I paid two for.
