I really want to start focusing my collection on assembling full uniforms and kits rather than just having random jackets and stuff.

A polish, czech, or hungarian kit would be cool to do next.

Some British troops came to show off their vehicles n' shit to the public.
Gotta say, I was legit impressed by their kit - Virtus load bearing gear and Mk8 helmets errywhere. Also, plenty of expensive wristwatches.

I guess the money saved by downsizing is at least being spent on gear.

I'm looking to buy an M85 czech winter parka, the one with the liner.

Does anyone know a good place to buy them from? Fleetfarm doesn't ship them and I don't live anywhere near one.

Also, I saw one on ebay and for sizes, it simply said things like "34 inch (Small)" or "48 inch (long)", etc etc.
Do the numbers mean the circumference around my chest, or the length from my shoulders to my waist?

I'm not sure of any good obscure short jackets that aren't hard as hell to find.
You could always looks for random countries' flight jackets, for example Canadian ones, but you'd have to get lucky finding one for a good price, in good condition, and in your size. Ebay is probably your best place to do that, maybe Etsy but they usually jack up prices hard.

Yeah. Honestly I'm having a hard time understanding if the US steals patterns from other countries or other countries steal patterns from the US. It seems like, for the most part, after the US comes out with a pattern or cut, another country copies the design almost identically. It really doesn't matter but it's kinda strange.

Got this bag awhile ago, marked PGE (Portland General Electric), it's make and material is very similar to ww2 era US stuff. Threads are white with OG Cotton main. Was it common for companies to repurpose military stuff?

Not sure about re purposing any items but they could have used. But My guess in stealing patterns is because they like the pattern/cut and wanted to adopt it for themselves, And another thing that I don't understand (and is a waste of money) is how each branch in the US military needs their own pattern. Why can't they use M81/ Olive drab again? Well for bases within the US or whatever. However for combat use is different .One thing I think I can see as re purposing would be those jeeps in WW2 for whatever civilian jobs it could be used for. Like driving around a construction site? Or for Civil Defense. I really want one of those CD helmets. I'm getting into cold war surp now

I'm all for OG-107/507 Utility fatigues again. One thing I'm really questioning is why we don't use reverseable uniforms? Last time I can think of was the p42 USMC uniform, besides the desert night parka. It would save a bunch of fabric as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't mind all the branches using the same camo, but nobody would be able to decide which one.

>>34509367
Yeah that's probably it.
>>
>>34509398
Reversible camo would be cool, You could use M81/ Tri Color desert. For deciding on a pattern, just use M81, also is that an M65 next tot he MARPAT?

>>
>>34519537
Vest and belt should fit snug over your PASGT vest/IBA vest. Web belts always go around your waist, above your trouser belt. As opposed to the normal LC-2 suspenders, the vest provides additional magazine/grenade pouches, comfort and support while still allowing the web belt for the regular pouches you'd have on a standard ALICE rig.

>>34519593
Fuck so it's not for individual carry?

It's basically a replacement for the suspenders/yoke on the old LC-2 webbing.
>>
>>34519639
So can I use it without a PASGT vest? Like just barebones? It really doesn't seem to be working. I'd have to synch up the straps completely to get the best around my waste lmao
>>34519577
Damn you, got me cleaning my closet at 2:30 in the morning god damn lol

I've washed it a bunch too since January when I got it. The authentic pants also fit better for some reason but it's really all trivial, though if I pay $80 I'd expect a genuine replica. I hope he improves with time and gets more accurate dye lol.

Here's the urban warrior camo template if anyone wants it, always kinda cool to see shitty prototypes.

It's something I should get on really. I have a bit of dosh for once, but also magnificent tattoo plans.

There's a velcro adjustment thingy on the back, but the cap itself is ridiculously small. Think 54-55cm.

Anyone else think the Belgian M64 parka would go really well with a USGI XM28E4 gas mask?

good luck finding one that isn't broken
M28 Riot Control Masks were a pretty well known for breaking trying to get them in their carriers

Didn't East German troops wear their pants over the boots?
>>
>>34534423
IIRC, they were only allowed to tuck their trousers in the boots only when it was 'exceptionally muddy', the rest of the time they were out.

The XM28 is pretty flexible, doesn't really even get close to ripping trying to fit it in the carrier. Unless you're talking about the internal plastic nose piece which is indeed almost always broken, but that doesn't compromise either the seal of the gas mask or the structural integrity of it.
>>
>>34538385
I've seen a few examples where lenses would break trying to get them in.

I found a cache of several cots in an old CD bunker about an hour from my house. There was also a surprisingly intact mimeograph on a desk, but it was heavy as hell and I had to climb a 12 foot gate in the cargo tunnel to get in, so I left it be.

The cots are like new, but pretty grimy; I haven't had a chance to clean them yet

Reported, have a nice day :)

But for real did you take any pics? Did you see any of those white helmets CD wore?
>>
>>34540535
Most of the complex was completely barren, with rock floors, smashed toilets and old plumbing.
One hall was full of late 80's- early 90's garbage, judging by the soda cans and 7/11 cups.
The only notable finds were the stack of cots and the mimeograph. I would have loved to find some helmets or patches, but pretty much anything of value was moved out long ago.

>>
>>34540631
I don't know that I could do much chilling in there. Aside from being dark as the inside of a nun's asshole, there was a portion of wall and floor with old blood smears and spray; looked like a drifter might've been stabbed. I was definitely on edge, checking corners after that
>>
>>34540667
Shit really? Pretty spooky manI been playing a shitload of fallout lately so i been getting more interested in cold war items, do you happen to know how old the bunker is by any chance?
>>
>>34540678
There really wasn't anything to indicate an age, inside or out. I can't even find any manufacturer stamps on these cots. I couldn't find any info online about the bunker either.
If I had to guess, based off the stylized CD logos painted on the front, the closest thing I could find to info on these cots, and general history of the area, it was probably built in the early fifties. As for when it was abandoned, that's the real big question. I've got no idea.
>>
>>34540763
No worries, pretty cool you have one in your area, I can't find shit, I also wonder who the fuck put all that trash there.

True, but it's still nowhere near as valuable as WW2 era German camo.

>>34534462
This. Uniform regulations called for the trouser legs to be worn over the boots. They could be tucked in if authorized by the commanding officer, but it was very rarely done if period photos are anything to go by.
>>
>>34542907
Why though, wearing the trouser legs over the boots kinda defeats the purpose of jackboots doesn't it?
>>
>>34543411
In torrential rain I'm put my trousers over my long boots to keep out the rain.
