Good luck with that

When you're 18 you can buy any kind of gun you want, sport :^)

Whatever, not everyone is poor.

>>34466412
I just want the .44 back.
>>
>>34466725

They brought the whole line back, so they're readily available again. Had to sell something besides AR-15's now that the Hildabeast has been slain. They were fetching >$1500+ on Gougebroker for a bit.

Would be cool if they brought back the semi-auto deerfield carbines too.

Oh holy shit, you weren't kidding.

>>34466725
What's the appeal of .44 over .357?

.357 is much cheaper, carries an extra round, and still pretty powerful.

Is it a reloading, or a hunting thing?
>>
>>34466555
its not fucking rocket surgery
>>
>>34466887
I use .44mag as my woods gun caliber because I live some place with bears, and I also have a Marlin 1894 in .44mag. It's more of a personal preference than anything else. If I wasn't primarily concerned with bears, I'd probably prefer .357 too.

They JUST reintroduced the things, holy fuck. Originally they stopped production because they weren't selling well enough. They'd obviously make takedown models if there were enough demand to make it profitable.
>>
Ruger makes the craziest shit.
>>
>>34467010
Ooh hey, now that Ruger has the American and the new SRs, they could make that again too.
>>
>>34467104
Always wondered why they went with that crazy heavy bolt design, instead of a gas system on these.
>>
>>34467134
Probably because it's cheaper and mechanically simpler. If you added a gas system it would basically be an M1 carbine.
>>
>>34467014
I have a suspicion if they introduced a takedown 357/44 with a threaded barrel, they'd sell like hotcakes. Especially if the HPA passes, and integrally suppressed models are available. Ultra light 44spl loads would be damn near silent.
>>
>>34467152
>basically be an M1 carbine
is that a problem?
>>
>>34467167
If they wanted a spoopy silent centerfire rifle they'd do it in .45ACP first.
>>
>>34467177
Not at all, but I suspect Ruger intentionally cheaped out to sell them as companion guns to their pistols, whereas a Garand-family action is more complex and thus more expensive. Now that ARs are cheaper than SKSes, they might as well focus on the mechanically interesting and high quality guns.

I'd be happy with a 16 inch threaded barrel + wood stock.
>>
>>34467256
The .44 version has a wood stock option so you could always have the barrel cut down and threaded later.
>>
>>34467092
My buddy has one of these. We both love it so much I've offered to buy it and he's declined some large sums for it. The only way it could be better would be detachable box mags.
>>
>>34466887
Hunting thing mainly. With how retard strong the M77 action is you can nearly touch .45-70 ballistics with it, while at the same time having powder puff loads even your 8yo niece can shoot all day.
>>
>>34467315
Ruger seems to have a knack for retard-strong actions.

>Ruger seems to have a knack for retard-strong actions
This here is the real reason Ruger revolvers have always had somewhat "chunky" lines, you'd often see it argued that their frames *have* to be thicker in order to be as strong as a S&W, I hope most people these days recognize this for the bullshit that it is.
>>
>>34467356
That's kinda their thing, GP100, and Mk handguns are way overbuilt.
>>
>>34466961

No, but you're going to quadruple the amount of machining required, on a small, parallel run of rifles. Prepare to get totally fucked on price.
>>
>>34468398
Why do you hate my dreams?
>>
Yeah but where is the takedown situated? Barrel taken off of the receiver? Not gonna happen since the locking lugs are on the receiver. Cutoff at half of the receiver? Maybe but how are you gonna mount the action to the stock, also what about scopes? Maybe the only way i see it being possible is to take the action off of the stock but this will have its own problems as well like what mounting mechanism are you gonna use that is both strong and quick detach.

Make your own dreams, nothing is stopping you from buying a used lathe and milling machine, and doing it your damn self.
>>
>>34472946
Except it doesn't, the 77/XXX series does not have CRF. If anything the cost has to do with making the rifle like in Mauser in most other aspects.

I'm not hating, I have a 77 African in .375 Ruger that I adore and actually does have CRF. But call a spade a spade.

So basically, most of the stuff that makes CRF rifles more expensive than most push actions?
>>

push feed actions*
>>
>>34467010

I have one of these and it's amazing. So fun to shoot. Pair it with a p series pistol and you have great shared mag capabilities.
