Not when the package is of .45 ACPs
>>
>>34464196
Be advised: couriers are known to make a "game" of cracking open heavy, overstuffed parcels by throwing/dropping them to the ground because "fuck you". A busted parcel with live cartridges tumbling out will warrant a little more than "nasty looks".
>>
>>34464256
45? That's a lot of ACPs.
What caliber?

>>34464196
Yep, but I'm in management at UPS and usually they're one of my delivery guys so they don't say shit.
>>
>>34464267
That's also horseshit, if they are not packaged in a way that makes the entire parcel rigid and then it will get crushed, torn, or otherwise broken open. Most overgoods that fall out of packages are because the sender can't figure out that one strip of packing tape and 1/4 in fiberboard isn't enough to stop a trailer hitch from falling out of the damn box.
>>
>>34464196
I've delivered weird shit, but I've also ordered weird shit. I want to go home at the end of the day so you get the most neutral face as possible unless you start a conversation, then I'm more than happy to be nice.
>>
>>34464840
Is it weird to tip you guys? Is that not allowed by policy? I try to give my delivery guy a holiday card and some cash in December, but my wife insist that can get them into trouble.
>>
>>34464952
When I worked as a driver helper we accepted tips, but that may have just been the driver, the oldest one in the area.
>>
>>34464840
How did you feel when you delivered horsecock dildos?
>>
>>34464952
I give my ups guy cards with money every holiday.
>>
>>34465043
>>34465062
Alright, sounds like it's kosher then. I'll just keep doing it, I swear it gets better service.
>>
>>34465059
Most times dildos are (presumably) manufactured and shipped domestically, so the packaging is private. However, international shipping requires the items inside to be listed precisely, so I've delivered a few sexual toys.
>>
>>34464952
>against policy
Eh I'm alone in a truck, doesn't't matter if it's against policy nobody will know. We appreciate folks being nice and we'll remember you. I've sometimes even made it a point to get your stuff delivered first and to be extra careful with it.
>>
>>34464196
I have my ammo shipped to my workplace which is a public university. The only person who notices is the UPS driver who smiles and gives a thumbs up.

That's bullshit. Those drivers make decent money. There often guys who have families also. There not some teenager with a shitty attitude delivering a pizza.

They're usually responsible grown adult men. They might mutter under their breath "damn this one's heavy", but their not going to personally make it a goal to damage your shit. 3/10 bait, you made me rant.

I had a safe delivered once. They delivery guy just pulled up outside my home, opened the door, and kicked it off the floor of his trailer and into my driveway. Someone was home, but he never knocked. He left it lying in my driveway when he was supposed to have placed it inside the side entrance. I had to move it myself to pull my car in when I got home. While there was no damage to the finish, the impact was hard enough to bend the frame and I couldn't open the door when the combination was dialed.

I had a good laugh when the company I bought it from made him come back and pick up the damaged safe, and then return and properly deliver the replacement.

Not just couriers. The Walmart backroom people call it "throwing truck" for a reason. During the holiday season a store might get 6+ semis stuffed to the seams with over 2000 boxes of whatever ... each night. The backroom people have to unload and sort them as quickly as possible. It's a wonder anything makes it to the shelves without being broken.

UPS? I order ammo in discrete packaging delivered to my company office so it won't sit on my porch all day. This is not technically kosher, but they deliver to our door and I'm the boss, so fuck it, I will take the perk.

Anyhow, two different drivers over the past year felt compelled to tell my secretary (pretty) and some employees that the bosses' heavy mystery boxes were ammo.

I used to load trucks for UPS while in college and had some respect for them, but this really rustles my jimmies..I could get in hot water if my managers ever found out. Thankfully they're all out of state.

Fuck UPS
>>
I use to order multiple crates of ammo at a time. The UPS and FEDEX guys just started to leave them at my garage door instead of walking up a flight of stairs to my front door.
>>
>>34467643
Maybe you shouldn't break company policy if you are just a manager who has to answer to people.

'Boss' my ass.
>>
>>34464196
I used to work in shipping, new guys used to smack there face on the conveyor belt because they would see a small box and assume it was light and slide it off without testing the weight only to go down when it was 50 pounds heavier then they thought. It was always bullets.

>peek outside
>see delivery girl with "oops we missed you slip on hand"
>open door as she never knocked or rang the bell
>say hello and look at the note
>she says she'll be right back
>brings my nugget food crate
>muh 880rds of commie goodness
>she says goodbye
>remind her in ordered 3
>dat face
>she had to go back for two more crates
>mfw my house is not at ground level so she has to climb two small sets of stairs
>she thought I was gonna help her

That's right I didn't help her, she was gonna leave without even trying to deliver my crates. Fuck her

Ayup. "You get what you pay for" is an aphorism because it's true. Pay minimum wage and you get minimum work. Why would you expect more than that? If you want competent workers you need to offer them something that's worthwhile, or else they'll work for someone else who does.
>>
>>34473766
it's minimum wage because any brainless mong off the street can do it, see a mirror
if you want to be paid more, do something valuable
>>
>>34473778
So what you're saying is that minimum-wage work isn't valuable? Okay. I'll generally agree with that. I don't give a fuck if McDonalds and Wal-Mart shut down, they really aren't valuable.

Back in the day I used to work in a comic book store, no I'm not a MLP but I was a CBG, anyway we used to get deliveries from Diamond Dist every Wed and the boxes were over 90lbs. Never over 100lbs. Store was second floor so the guy had to lug them up and my boss would tip him. Then in the interest of not taking a full fuckign day, I would go down and assist, had him load up two boxes on my shoulders (one on each side of my head and I would venture up the fucking stairs. I was in college and a monster. After a few weeks of this, he would come up the stairs with nothing, NOTHING, to call me down. I was like FUCK YOU, MAN, at least bring a box, I'll assist but don't have me do your job! So the next week he showed up super late, to fuck us over on getting books on the shelves. I called his managers and told them that he was extorting us for cash and he was gone from our route. Never helped the next driver and I soon moved on from that biz.

The guy who delivers at my house is cool. He used to leave stuff on the porch but then something got stolen, so he will either leave it in my back yard or at my parents house down the road if it looks like something valuable (TV, electronics, sex toys, etc)

When I order large lots of ammo I have them held at the hub and I pick them up myself. I have never had shit get stolen but I would hate for ammo to get knicked.

Also, and this may not be founded, but I don't want some guy knowing my house contains thousands and thousands of rounds of ammo. When held at the store, it's just another heavy box on a truck full of giant boxes that gets sorted on the sorting line. When delivered someone actually carries it to my door and is likely going to pay special attention to what it is since it's heavy as fuck. Maybe paranoid, but whatever

Once it ships you can register an account for free and have it held at the nearest ups or fed ex store for pickup
>>
>>34475508
But how can it be that the mailman can open the red crate, but not some redguard?
>>
>>34475637
Do you know how long they'll hold it at the store for?

Not the other anon, but the only person that can receive packages for me while I'm out of town wouldn't be able to carry 30lb boxes of ammo from the driveway to the front door.

>Loading and unloading trucks
>Anybody can do it

Pay 15 bucks an hour and get people with strong backs that won't show up methed up. Triple productivity by raising payroll cost by 10%, and the moment you have an opening one of the guys working for you will have a brother or cousin or something he can bring in to fill it with a basically reliable guy.

For labor jobs you pay a fucking ton in supervision and damage for going minimum wage labor.

it's set to be able to be locked once the guy puts the package in and then pushes a button.

The camera is in case anybody gets a wise idea to try and fuck with it like a nigger.

Not my problem if the company can't package something right. I am the only game in town, they want to ship anywhere else they either pay double for people who are exactly the same and slower or they go through me.

No one gives a shit if some snot nosed brat's barbie get's a little rumpled. I'd cum on it if I had the time.

>I wanna run my hand through that

Put a fake package on your doorstep with a tracker in it, or ask the police to so it if you're a pussy. Also set up a hidden camera for good measure.

Hey, you can do what the three replies suggested. I have regularly had packages held at a UPS Hub or FedEx store for personal pick up.

Oh, and just so you know, that package that was stolen from me, UPS was kinda cool about it, the girl told me that it wasn't my problem that because the delivery guy left it on site, there were on the hook. It was handled by the manufacturer and UPS beyond that. My card was credited and re-purchased a new Leica Disto laser measuring tool. I did have police report done, and has ti turned out, a few homes got hit that week from some degenerate that a neighbor say getting too close to doors, but he escaped capture

You can even set up a ghetto box (like a small Knaak or Job Box) and leave it open with an unlocked padlock on it and a note for deliveries:
"Place place packages in box and close padlock"

Although I would build a small cabinet around it with a flip up padded top to look like a bench just to look good.

Get a job.

I think it's a week or so. But you can extend it online as well. I had to do this for a package at a FedEx store. They seem cool about it, unless it's like a 10ft dinosaur dildo that takes up too much space, i think.

>Oh look, lead ingots come with free shipping if I order a fuckton of it!
>Gee, I hope the UPS guy doesn't get upset about this~
He put the box on my wicker chair on my front porch, it tore through the seat...

All that does is allow the neighborhood shitbag to lock something undesirable in it so
1. You have something undesirable and potentially illegal in your secured possession (I've seen everything from bags of shit to abandoned babies and kittens, which promptly die or went in dead)
2. Still doesn't secure your package, IF it's delivered at all, because the box is already locked when the carrier gets there.
