The fact that he was the basis of some Paul Bunyan stories is pretty notable, though.

So I wanted to invest in a Scout rifle, the mossberg MVP in particular was interesting me because of its ability to use LAR-15 pistol mags and get a legal 10 rounds out of an AR mag.

Given its pricepoint here being 900 plus (at least in CanadianTire) it just seams that getting a NR Semi-auto that could take LAR-15 mags would be a more viable option.

Type95 gen 2 being in the same pricerange kinda swayed me towards this.

If I were to get a scout rifle at this point it would be in 308. (gun site rn is selling 10 round m14 mags that would fit in an MVP)

I just really hate our mag capacity laws. The loopholes make it so fucking stupid, to get 10 legal rounds in an SKS you have to get a magwell adapter, then use XCR x39 pistol mags; whole setup costs as much as the rifle, plus some.

AND THE M1 GARAND CAN TAKE 8 CENTERFIRE ROUNDS LEGALLY EVEN THOUGH 5 ROUND ENBLOCKS EXIST

FUCK THE RCMP REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>34463812
You can actually fire 10 rounds, legally, from a pinned SKS. Just unlatch the bottom of the mag and hold it in place with your hand. Magic.
>>
>>34463832
This method is retarded.
>>
>>34463849
But it works
>>
>>34463849
If it's stupid and it works...
>>
>>34463864
>>34463872
Sure, at cost of stability/accuracy unless you're shooting with a gun vise. I'd rather have my supporting had further out and actually be able to hit things rather then blasting away 10 rounds hoping to hit the broadside of a barn.
>>
>>34463909
>WHAT ARE YOU A PUSSY.
Seriously dude lift some weights its like an 8lb rifle.
>>
>>34463930
Mate, just because it's possible to shoot a rifle with one hand doesn't make it a great idea to do so. I'd like to see someone use that weird ten round SKS hold and hit something past a hundred yards standing.
>>
>>34464022
>i have little bitch arms and only shot my sks twice and didnt hit anything so sks's are shit: the post
Even tho im not a cuck and my mag just hold ten rounds anyways, the mag latch method isnt hard at all especially at 100m, and if you actually know how to shoot cause youve put roughly 10k rounds through your gun, doing it at 300m isnt hard either

The magwell position makes them look funny to me. Still, assuming they're decent enough rifles, I'd love to own one. I have an SKS and VZ58 and I'd love to get that too, then I'd only need to talk to CTG about getting an AK or something.

I know if it's not a lot, it doesn't affect accuracy to a degree anyone can notice, but the more I try to remove it and the more it doesn't budge, the more invested I get into removing it. what are good products and good methods for getting that shit to come out o the little nooks in the rifling?

That's a recipe for divorce, or at the very least an unhappy marriage.

People who can't even make time for their friends shouldn't be putting half of their income, assets, and livelihood on the line.

Timbersmith
>>
>>34478165
>>34479012
just fun fact, Timberthmith is a Tapco line
they do look nice, although noticeably heavier than Russian and Chinese stocks. that or a Boyd stocks are your only decent looking wood options

for polymer, maybe Monte Carlo by ATI (basically the same shape as original but made of black polymer with checkering and a bit longer LOP)
if you want to go for the mini-SVD look, check the ATI Fiberfoece Dragunov style stock

also, ATI Strikeforce TactLite for a tacticool foldable stock that's better than the Tapco option
>you didn't really make it clear if you wanted a classic style stick or just not Tapco
>>
>>34479255
Tapco is a distributor, timbersmith is the maker of the stocks, ATI would be the maker of the cheapo plastic ones.
>>
>>34479265
Timbersmith is just a Tapco brand line, probably made in the same Chinese factory their plastics stocks are made, don't get mad because it's Tapco, it's still a decent wood replcement
>ATI would be the maker of the cheapo plastic ones
only the maker of the cheapo plastic ATI, they don't make stocks for Tapco. and out of the two, ATI is an overall better fit and fonisha and nicer quality of plastic
>>
>>34479392

>>
hey guys

What if Norinco started making cheap and functional 180b clones?

>inB4 chinkshit
1) as long as they don't fuck around with it, like changing T97 to be NR after initial ban and to accept AR mags and 5.56 round, their clones are great
>note that most malfunctions on T97 are with feeding and are due mag sensitivity and due to lack of feed ramp, which isn't needed for the original design to work, so basically the two things they fucked with quickly, trying to get the changes out the door are the problem
unfucked with clones like 1911, M14, SKS, AR-15 are just fine and at a crazy good price

2) AR-180 was specifically designed by Stoner as an AR-15 alternative, to be easily manifacrured by less advanced, poorer 3rd world ally nations, with simpler process and cheaper cost.

the Chinese can make it just fine
>mfw someone needs to get a hold of Lee at the Polytech factory or Wu at Emei

Canada Ammo is working on aluminum AR-180 replacement receivers and the long-term goal is complete rifles.
>>
>>34479458
>>34479485
As with all the times people ask for Valmet clones, any new producer of a rifle will need to get a new FRT for their version of that rifle.
So while Canada ammo maybe trying to get a new AR-180b to market its still many years away but at least with the AR-180b it is possible.
>>
>>34479503
To be fair, I did say "long term".
>>
>>34479503
Valmet is a bit different because it's an AK that's "not prohibited by name" as an exception, just to not end up with govt making criminals out of natives by prohibiting the gun it gave them a few years earlier

AR-180b is a platform, not a specific brand name, so there is a bit more leeway
>and it's more obscure that an AK

All CanAmmo has to do is keep loudly posting everywhere about how it'll be a boutique rifle made by artisans for the discerning connoisseur and the price point on them will be $5000 as it's sent in the request and then awaits the verdict of the lab, and it'll get NR easily
>then go "lel, turns out it was soot-covered chinks banging them out for our poorfag customers all along and the price is $599 now"
>>
>>34479545
I think Canada Ammo is making the receivers domestically. It's not like the Chinese manufacturers they work with have ever manufactured AR-18's before, so they don't already have a bunch of tooling and stuff, but we have quite a few AR-180's in Canada to use for reverse-engineering.
>>
>>34479924
You seem to be suffering under the misapprehension that
a) blueprints for and samples of firearms aren't widely available
a.5) that the internet doesn't exist for trading such things
c) that Canadians can accomplish something for less than 10 times the price a chinese factory could
>>
>>34480929
>Blueprints widely available
Proper detail drawings with tolerances, surface finishes, material selection, heat treating, etc for every single component and assembly?
No.

I've worked with Chinese manufacturers before. It's a nightmare.
>>
>>34480929
in a way he is right though, the Chinese are less likely to invest in tooling for small markets like Canada.

>>34479924
although they did make adjustments to the T97 so they probably can be persuaded if there is enough demand in markets like Pakistan and Phillipins.

and since they make the AK and AR, they should be able to adjust some of the shit they have to fold sheet receivers and to produce some of the AR parts it already uses, and just make 18.6" AR barrel

small CNC machine that makes the CanAmmo lowers is a minor investment compared to what it takes to even make a stamped receiver, nevermind barrels. so it could be more likely the Chinese will retool and add to their production line than a Canadian dealer making it from scratch and tooling up for it themselves.

it's possible, I mean they make a Sig clone in 7.62x25. an AR-180b is a lot more common and popular than that.

well, they're generally a more traditional and conservative culture, so guys like guy stuff like cars and guns, girls like girly shit, makes sense
chinkbros are redpelled as fuck

besides, who gives a fuck who runs the store, when their ammo selection and prices are often some of the best in country and you can haggle when you get stuff in a combo or be there for an hour choosing an SKS, like my buddy did when I took him there to get his first slavshit. the girl was running back and forth with greasy cosmoline boxes being patient and pleasant despite it being a poorfag milsurp that the store will make peanuts on compare to other rifles

If you tried that shit at Al Flaherty's, you'd get a death stare and a "this is the last one" on the first rifle they brought out
>oh wait, Flaherty's stopped selling milsurp because they're massive cucks
the one time some fag in another province didn't clean his Cambodian Tire SKS and it went runaway retard on him, and someone even coughed about possibly having extra inspections being necessary for milsurp, the supplicants at Al Flaherty's pulled all of their SKS and other milsurp off the shelves and offline, and don't sell it to this day despite it just being a rumor that went away years ago

yeah, I'm a bit buttblasted, but I just can't stand how they have such bro-tier rep on CGN, while being a bunch of cucked fudds who think basic professional service is a capricious demand they don't need to bother with.

>>
>>34485558
Also I think it's more about the explosives/dangerous cargo insurance and stuff than it's about the weight.
>>
>>34485621
>>34485632
it's both the weight and the fact that it's ammo. weight plays a standard weight role in shipping, which isn't negligible. always look for free shipping on bulk orders and research your local stores, some will have good deals on bulk, just as good as top online dealers.
the Hintenberg or whatever it's called that I assume you were buying is available all over the country at many places.

a number of dealers got tired of people complaining about shipping, even though there isn't much they can do about it and it's a commonly known issue, new people always get burned on not knowing it -- so now they just say "local pickup only" or do free shipping if you buy enough bulk
Canada Ammo is the only one that does free shipping on a fairly low threshold of over $200, the rest are closer to $500-$600 minimum to qualify for free shipping

Oh good, you're not one of those chucklefucks who want everything under the sun but don't want to pay more than 400 bucks for it.

If you're gonna stick to ranges then I'd say get a good .22 (like the other anon said, Savage makes pretty good ones), 5.56 or a non-slavshit 7.62x39 to start.
Also after you've acquired the basics if you have your RPAL I'd say a mid-range AR-10 would do you wonders. Or a NEA 102. Unless you end up really liking bolt action and/or high precision shooting in which case sky is the limit.
>>

As far as making prototypes goes, you can do that with just your RPAL, but you'll need to submit the design to them for review first.
>>
>>34486490
It's kind a luck thing.
My chink M14 apparently is one of the good ones, I've been shooting it a lot over the last three years and the only issues I've had with it were just inherent limitations of the Garand action, it's taken everything I've thrown at it like a champ and keeps going like nothing even happened.
>>
Is it legal to put a pistol grip on a pump action's actual pump? I was eyeing those pump action Troys.
>>
>>34486552

>>
>>34486556
Yes. We do not use a "feature based" system in Canada so you can put a VFG on a shotgun, pistol or whatever you want.
>>
>>34486613

>>
>>34486587
Honestly I have no idea, for as long as I've been on /k/ I've only heard bad things about Springfield (not even gonna mention the traitorous shit they pulled a couple months ago). I don't know if we have access to the fancier brands like americans do, I've never seen any. Norinco, despite apparently having sometimes shoddy QC, have pretty good tooling. Honestly I'm always willing to recommend it, for that kind of price it's the most fun you're gonna have with your clothes on with a rifle in Canada. Unless you got really really unlucky, worst case scenario is you'll have to change a couple parts.

Just don't expect crazy accuracy out of it, the Garand action is just not made for that.
>>
>>34486665
Are the more modern m14s accurate? Like the EBR or whatever?
>>
>>34463621
Can't unsee South Park flappy Canadian head
>>
>>34486703
As far as I know the closest you're gonna get to that in Canada is putting a Springfield or a Norinco in an EBR chassis, which is pretty expensive, is gonna take quite a bit of waiting and isn't gonna improve performance all that much.

There are upgrades you can do on a M14 platform but you're gonna end up paying more than the price of a truly accurate gun to get similar or worse results.
>>
>>34485968
SVT-40s have dried up because of
1. the ban on imports from Russia and Ukraine
2. fudds bought all of them and are clinging to them
I suspect that if the import ban is lifted they'll be cheap again or if people stop paying so much for them from stupid price gouging fudds

>metal bolt carrier
>plastics receiver
There is nothing between the back of the receiver and the bolt carrier, which constantly travels microns closer and closer to that plastic wall and usually smashes through it within 1k rounds or less; some reported as low as 300 rounds when using hotter ammo
>might also have to do with the fact that Canadian models have longer barrels than the original 16" designed for US, so longer dwell time, more gas pressure to gas port, harder kick to the carrier
but US has these problems too and no Gen 2 for SU-16 despite years of complaints
https://youtu.be/cR8VIxhWbzY
https://youtu.be/juxLeQY-Iwg

you might as well save $100 and buy yourself a T97, roll the 50/50 dice on getting a good one out of the box or doing musical chairs with mags until you find ones it likes

if you want a super light 5.56 that you will shoot once a year (and not too fast, the pencil barrel heats up fast and accuracy drops through the floor)

that or VZ in 5.56 if you can find one around. early models had issues, but once they figured out the gas port size, no reported problems. if you are interested, look it up, but I think 2014 and after are all fine.

there is a decent adapter for it that requires no permanent modification and gives you the ability to use 7.62x39 10-round XCR mags and AR style loading and dropping mags with AR button mag release
plus they can be outfitter with rails for red dots and bolt releases, making them more tacticool if that's all stuff you care about

it's too bad there isn't a solid go-to answer for a reliable affordable and reasonably accurate mag-fed semi-auto NR rifle in 5.56 in Canada

being white and being born here for one generation longer than a chink whose family built the railroad doesn't make you a "local" and him a "foreigner"; or a chink whose family came here 50 years ago, it is inconsequential in historical terms; trying to apply European arguments for white country where people native to those countries where white for millennia, to a country that's barely a few hundred years old and is a colony that quickly became populated by many races, even if whites were the first newcomers by a small margin is anunine. muh white country for whites is lolzy as fuck if your understanding of history isn't informed by /pol/ memes

if you want to build an alternative upper with a different barrel length or caliber for an existing store-bought complete AR or want to change the barrel on it to a longer or shorter length, how do these scenarios work with the registry
>from what I understand, even though the lower is technically the registered firearm, the certificate for complete rifles does list barrel length and caliber
so do you need to register secod barrel length and caliber for an existing AR? do you technically need a new certificate every time you swap out an upper? if you change just be barrel and keep it that way, do you need a new certificate, since it is the same rifle and it used to be registered as one barrel length and now is another?

was thinking about it and just curious how this bit of paperwork works for you ARfags
>>
>>34493730
You have 30 days to contact them if changes you make to a firearm affect the class of the firearm, but for the exact barrel length and cartridge being fired when it doesn't change class... I don't think it matters (as long as the length isn't changed by cutting the barrel).

There are others, but they are usually either very unreliable (Just Right Carbine) and/or weigh a fucking ton (Suomi). IIRC, CanadaAmmo was working on getting M1 Carbines chambered in other rounds, but I haven't heard a peep about that in a long time. NEA is working on some 9x19 carbines, but who knows if those will go NR or R and when the classification will be made (pic related).

I don't know enough about the 9x19 Tavor's to recommend them or not, but they exist. I hear a lot of buzz about the Sig MPX but I want to handle one first. I'm really excited for the CZ EVO 3, though, and pre-orders for NR ones has already started (See: IRunGuns).

It's a shame the MPX is that expensive, it's exactly the kind of thing I want

They're bringing EVO 3's in as pistols as well as carbines and they're working on getting approved pistol mags, so that'll be a lot of fun for a lot less.

FWIW, the normal magazines sell for less than 20 bucks in the US.

Lots of Boomers are dying off or selling their guns to fund their retirement. If you go to gun shows, you'll be seeing more and more nice ones.

This guy is selling an FN-49 in 8mm for 1,100 asking price which would be about right for an Egyptian with ~75% finish. His looks a bit rougher than that to my eye, so you might be able to haggle him down to as low as 850, but I'd take it at 900. That or you get that amount of savings by buying his ammo below market value. Either way.

There was one year in the late 2000's, early 2010's in Quebec that was so bad I spent 15 hours shoveling one day. I finished the driveway, started shoveling to the shed (where we stored trash so raccoons couldn't get to it) and by the time I was done that the driveway had a foot of snow already and the snow plow passed leaving a 3 foot tall and 2 foot wide mound of compacted snow and ice at the entrance. Nearly had a fucking mental breakdown.

When I hear people talk wistfully about having snow fall, I always explain it like this: The first day, you marvel at how pretty it is. The second day, you play in the snow. The third day and onwards you want to murder clouds for dropping white shit everywhere.

Eh, I could see how anon could take issue with this. Doing this takes active effort and intelligence, and a good deal of it no less. Labeling politics "cult-like" could be (mis?)understood to imply that anyone interested in politics has a cult-like mentality, or that knowledge of politics is trivial and the entire issue is nonsense. Which, of course, is not the case.

The "fuck politics" approach is often parroted by people who don't know the least bit about it, and political indifference is obviously beneficial to (((those))) in power. That might be the stick up his ass.
>>
>>34504154

the thing about Castille case is, if you watch the actual video of the shooting recorded on the cruiser dash cam and listen to the audio; Philando basically says "oh yeah, I have a gun" and starts reaching for his right side to presumably show his permit or as part of continuing to look for/take out his driver's license. while the cop can be seen as trigger happy, telling an officer you have a gun and then m reaching for something out of their view in your pocket/belt area is really up there as far as horribly dangerous decisions go. the fact that cops could smell weed in the car and he had a mile-long record that would have shown up when they ran his plate, all pretty much adds up to what did end up happening.

not saying it was fully justified, but I would assume if you are a CCW holder in US, you'd inform the officers of it and wait for further instructions with your hands of the wheel, keeping everyone happy and calm. yeah the cop jumped the gun, but Castille did give him a reason to get jumpy.

To call it a "right wing echo chamber", as many have and will continue to do, is erroneous at best.
AHA being a dirty race-baiting commie just ends up fueling political conversations in the CanGen threads and then he turns around and whines when his untenable positions are shot full of holes.

Opinions discarded.

I'm glad I managed to start an argument between two of you idiots without even being here though. The fact that you both know so much about /pol/ also proves that you hardly belong here, since those freedom hating cucks want want to take guns from people whether they're left or right.

/pol/ needs firearms too, mate. It's a rightist board, mostly young fascists, libertardians and identitarians by a few hundred names. Very pro-gun. If that scares you, you should be training rather than making up nonsense about them being freedom-hating cucks.

I can see how you could get that confused if you're nigger or something. Are you?
