>Used in the fucking Satsuma rebellion, both Boer wars, Boxer Rebellion, Easter Rising and Irish War of Independence while also being the blueprint to all future Mauser designs and black powder
Gewehr 71 is fucking amazing.

I always liked the Murata. Thing about the Gewehr 71 is how wide spread it's conflicts were.
Japan, China, South Africa, Ireland. It managed to find a use across the globe, and usually in rebellions.
Gewehr 71 is one of the most historically significant rifles imo.

Who cares, it's obsolete.
I've never even heard of those conflicts either.
Just get an AR dude

Wow nice shitpost. Here's your (you).

>while also being the blueprint to all future Mauser designs
What? No.

Who says you can't have room for both an AR and old military shooters?
>>34461151
It's fucking not. The closest any smokeless powder action comes is the Gew 88 and the Mannlicher turn bolts.
>>34461172
what makes you think i objected your entry faggot im not even OP.
>>34461131
There are some common design pieces from the 1871 that were kept. Notably, single piece bolt body and the safety.
Type 45 Siamese Mauser that was convertet to 8x52 R by siamese army
Originaly wanted to buy an Arisaka Type38 (dealer tought this was one)
After finding out that a Siam mauser is kinda rare i decided to keep it
>>34461154
You took the bait hook line and sinker. Your autism knows no bounds.
>>34461275
I'm jelly. Apparently you can convert those bloody things to shoot 45-70. The idea of a big bore bolt action appeals.
>>34461286
Id reather buy something in 45-70 than convert a piece of history
That is if the EU (europäischer untergang) doesnt take it away next time they decide to fuck around with Helvetic laws.
>>34461281
What can I say, the bait looked tasty and I am bored.
>>34461154
>Available from the factory in these cartridges for starters:
like that's a good thing, at the time everyone who aspired to global power status wanted their own special snowflake chambering.
this leaves me hunting for .43 Egyptian, which as you may have guessed never caught on.
>>34461172
gew 88s were just a mashup of stolen designs, some of them mauser.
>>34461413
Use 32 gauge brass shotshell hulls. Magtech makes them for less than $1 a piece.
Resize in a non-lee sizing die. Lee dies suck for case forming. CH4D is your friend if you like odd ball crap and need to order custom dies.
Uses the same bullet mold as 43 Mauser. Lyman makes an affordable one.
It is a lot easier than 43 Spanish or Mauser to get components.
>>34461211
>single piece bolt body
>Gew.71
Pick one.
>>34461154
Truly the greatest rifle of it's day.
>>34459937
Who was using it in WWI?
The Japanese ground forces were limited and easily had up to date Type 38 derived guns.
>>34462323
Pretty sure he means the lack of a separate bolt head/face, like on the Lebel or Mosin.
What makes one bolt gun outdated compared to another one?
>>34466317
Ones you like aren't outdated. Ones you don't like are.
>>34461102
Wow.
That's actually some really fucking subtle and high quality bait right there man.
I applaud you.
>>34459818
Yup.
Though they're a fair bit more expensive than a run of the mill '88.
And the '88 is cheaper to feed usually.
Where might one acquire a '71?
>>34466317
inferior ballistics, usually caused by an inferior cartridge, complicated or fragile mechanism, inferior tech. sort of the same stuff that makes everything obsolete
>>34465949
>the lack of a separate bolt head/face,
Gew.71 does have a separate bolt face.
