The point that Germany has -literally- never been good at conducting naval warfare? The only thing to understand here is that trying to sail a flotilla past a shore battery without doing even cursory intelligence gathering is stupid as fuck. Just another example of Prussian arrogance more concerned with pomp and regalia than actually winning against a powerful adversary.

The fact that you try to use "American" as derogatory shows just how pathetically delusional you are. You'd learn orders of magnitude more from an American book than a German book, considering America has actually waged a successful naval campaign.

I'd read a German book if I wanted to know how to scuttle a boat but not much else.

it happened because the Germans sailed straight into a heavily fortified bottleneck where their cruisers couldn't maneuver. It would be the naval equivalent of attack the maginot line head on. The German surface navy was always incompetent and always will be.
