>>
>>34458984
Just loaded some.
>Hornady brass
>Hornady 75gr OTMBT
>28.9 gr CFE 223
>>
>>34459074
do you think its possible to cast for it? iv been told by an extremely experienced reloader that it isnt. but iv been seeing a lot of stuff on youtube and even some data for it in a lyman cast load book . just was looking for other opinions thats all
>>
>>34459093
i loaded a bunch of 55gr hornady for the 4th with just 21 gr of h322. havnt tried cfe yet but its kinda spendy
>>
>>34459104
Honestly have no idea. I don't use cast bullets.
>>
>>34459112
Worth it, burns clean as hell and is VERY versatile.
>>
>>34459104
Cast lead? HELL NO.
>>
>>34459158
with a gas check and a powder coat and only 6.8 gr of clays will keep it from breaking up in the barrel i hear. i know i cant push them any faster then 1700 fps
>>
>>34459104
I'v seen it work in my buddy's weapon before but that was a bolt Rem. 700 and I have no idea what it did to his barrel.

>>
>>34459212
Gun shows dude.
>>
>>34459218

>>
I enjoy reloading and reloading accessories.

>about 30 USD per hundred for the cheapest FMJ in my country
>only thing cheaper is bubba's drunken castings offered through arcane means like socializing. Useless for full power rifle loads anyway.
Fuck this gay earth.
>>
>>34458984
I reload .223, I do 55, 62, and 77 grain. I have been considering working up a 69 grain Nosler load for my 1 in 9 bolt action.

But hey, don't reload .223 with cast bullets. You are going to ruin your rifle, even if you powdercoat them and use very little powder. If it was the end of the world, go for it, but if you can avoid it, get some real ammo.
>>
>>34459104
.223 is an extremely fast round that needs jacketed bullets if loaded to spec

you can use copper plated bullets if you have short barrels or load them somewhat mild

but cast bullets cannot be used in anything other than experimental 50% performance loads or the bullets will break up and fuck up your barrel after a while
>>
>>34459104
Trial it but powder coat it. Gas checks aren't needed but if you wanna be through you can. People pc cast .223 at full velocity with no leading if you use the right pc.
>>
is there an easy way to tell the diameter of a rifle bore? id like to do it myself instead of payig a gunsmith to swag it. im not sure if my m39 has a .308 or .311 bore, and i think my enfield has a .311 but ive read some people measure theres up too .315
>>
>>34459936
Get some calipers
>>
>>34459333
>tfw picked up 500, 200 grain 45 (.452) Xtreme Bullets from Cabelas today

>$58.88

>500 9mm 115 grain for about $40
They were on sale.
>>
Only for my snow flake shit that's too costly to buy.
>>
>>34460193
would a cheap electronic one from harbor freight work
>>
>>34460211
yeah that'll work fine. Also ask friends in case someone has a pair they can lend, sounds like you don't need it for anything else
>>
>>34460211

I'd be iffy about Harbor Freight for calipers. Check out iGaging on Amazon. They have some good ones for ~$25.
>>
>>34460211
A Rockford Arsenal set of calipers is like $30. How fucking cheap are you?
