Because Sweden did a better, sexier and foremost, functional light fighter jet by the time the Tejas was still a drawing in the dust on the shitting street.
This despite having only a fraction of the funds and manpower of india.
>>
Uses an American engine and the most advanced electronics are Israeli, not exactly "homegrown". Twenty years ago it might have been respectable, in the current year, it is an embarrassment. If it was credible as a stepping stone design that wouldn't be so bad, but compared to the J-10, a stepping stone for Chinese military aviation, the LCA really hasn't achieved much. Yes, HAL has gained expertise over this program, but nowhere near enough to be impressive.
>>
Every piece of technology on that jet was developed in the West, home grown indeed.
>>
So is the shit supposed to straight up replace the Mig-21s as a dedicated interceptor or are they trying to make it a bit more versatile? Either way, they aren't cheap and they don't look particularly hawt.
>>
>>34451289

You fuckers swim in a river with bodies and ashes floating around, and a non existant aircraft industry with a copy of a plane,
You guys are a third world shithole.

One could easily mention five successful swedish arms that made it to the world market and sold well.
Could you do the same for India?
>>
>>34453307

W10
>>
>>34452948
Sweden may have given up as a country and a people, but while they were at their prime they did design some very good weapons. This is without question. That India has not is also without question.
>>
>>34451289
> all by themselves.
no.
Dassault is not indian.
Neither Safran which is babysitting them so they can make the kaveri.
>>
I'm imagining the Tejas putting the afterburner. First there's a gurgling noise and then an explosion of liquid shit propels the jet with the force of 9000 suns.

It's not anything particularly special. It's neither the greatest fighter in the world nor is it a PoS that can be easily mass-produced like Chink products, so it's just kind of "meh".

I wouldn't be that surprised if somewhere down the line the Indians are offered a F-35 variant. Not now, but not never. The Indians already fly the P-8.

The other option the poos have is to settle on a single air-frame. Something they can produce domestically, even if by license. Then pay the Israelis for avionics, sensors and weapons. Get your pilots plenty of seat time and viola! a functional air force.
>>
>>34456909

I realize that Trump's new best friend of the week is PM Modi, but traditionally the US and India haven't seen eye-to-eye. How much change can one administration make? Typically, it's been Pakistan who has flown US hardware (pic related)
