What are the best games in terms of weapons, tanks etc.?
Ace of Spades is pretty realistic in that regard.
>>34445870
Inf.weapons-Squad
Tanks-WT or autistic sims like t34 vs tigr:OSTFRONT combat sim 1941
>>34445870
escape from tarkov seems to be rather good in that regard
War Thunder tanks are decent.
The grind is absolutely horrendous though.
>>34445927
Shitty light, optimization and weapons.
>>34445870
Arma is basically the only shooting game I can play because I always seem to overestimate the range of weapons in video games because of my real guns experiences. Usually leads to me getting blown the fuck out in other games.
Insurgency was ok I guess. PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is pretty great too.
>>34445927
that game seems like bait for some reason.
Arma is pretty great in a big group.
>>34445940
>arma 3
I can't stand the reload animations
>You'll never relive the glory days of Red Orchestra Ostfront tank gameplay.
Them were the days.
I second ARMA in a group
>>34445957
Most of the animations are pretty stiff actually but the gameplay is phenomenal and most of the guns seem authentic.
>>34445940
I seem to over-estimate the distance of an enemy on Arma 3, leads to a fucked up zero.
>>34445870
>>34445952
>>34445975
Yes Arma 3 is the best in a group
>>34446247
Eh, non-modded Arma is bad
>>34446453
On top of that
>3rd Person
>>34446247
Modded Arma 3 is the best.
Best Infantry/combined arms PVE : Arma 3 with mods
Best Infantry/combined arms PVP: Squad
Best Tank Sim: Steel Beasts
Best Military Aviation Sim: DCS, Falcon BMS
>>34446751
Hell yeah
>>34446453
not at all
Zeus is great, non-modded arma 3 in general is great.
G-guys I picked up cmano did I fuck up bad?
>>34445870
It's not a sim by any means but in terms of actual combined arms tactics being utilized in public gameplay nothing beats Project Reality.
It's not uncommon to have tanks, jets, UH, AH, and infantry all operating at the same time and working towards the same objectives. The potential is there in Arma but actual cohesive play is just not that common without a clan.
I think squad will be the next combined arms leader once they get all of the vehicles in.
>>34447890
Will Squad have pilotable jets? I thought they were just going to stick to helicopters and ground vehicles.
>>34447005
This nigga knows whats up.
Although I'd split PVP into two tiers, with/without PUGs. A3 TvT in a group setting is great, Squad is great for just joining a server and jumping into the shit.
>>34448045
I guarantee fixed wing assets are outside of the scope of Squad based on map-size alone.
>>34445922
I'd pay Gaijin $60 if they actually made a single-player WWII campaign. Their models are so fuckign good but they're wasted on bullshit multiplayer.
>>34445870
battlefield
>>34445870
Insurgency is good, especially with all the gun reskins in the workshop.
>>34446751
I have it modded for Soviet-Afghan war.
I mostly just zeus up my own missions and fuck around. Would be cool to run it for people though.
>>34447005
>Falcon 4.0
yes, so much yes.
Anyone interested in an Arma 3 group that runs a good chunk of mods like ACE, ACRE, and RHS?
>>34448176
Insurgency is great for /k/, the weapon handling is realistic (aside from the player character being able to make perfect shots on demand for hours at a time), and it is possible to do tacticool shit on it--with a pace closer to normal FPS's.
>>34449276
joining groups is kind of 1990s for me
>>34445927
How much does it cost to play?
>>34445951
I felt that way too when I first heard about it. Idk why even it just seems fishy
>>34445940
>PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is pretty great too.
It is a lot of fun.
It's honestly probably the most fun I've had in a multiplayer shooter in a long time.
>Get down to last 10
>Get in a sniper duel with player, K98 versus K98
>Only have iron sights
>He starts taking shots while I'm looting a shed
>Pop smoke and run away
>He doesn't move spots after a dozen shots
>Double back and fire at him from different spots before he rushes for the shed and I finish him with shotgun
>Play squad mode with randoms
>Last on my squad left alive and it's only the first five minutes of the game
>Looting a house
>Guy runs in with shot gun, knock him down with first shot, finish him off and loot
>His two remaining teammates pull up in buggie
>Open door and both get caught on table
>Kill them and blow door away with pump shotgun
This is probably the most exhilarated I've ever felt playing a video game.
Anyone played the standard issue rifles mode in battlefield 1, and is it any good?
>>34445927
The attention to detail in the guns is pretty fantastic, but like others have said, Russkie gamedevs are notorious for being scammy as fuck.

>>34445870
I third Arma in general, most of Arma (whether it be 2 or 3) I play solo and still have loads of fun. Arma 3 is the greatest game ever created.
>>34445870
Squad is pretty up there too, too bad the performance is absolutely abysmal. It has worse performance than Arma 3.
>>34450514
i don't believe that, I have a way easier time running Squad then Arma.
>>34447074
My autism makes me REE hard every time I give unmodded arma a go, so much retarded shit going on with vehicles and guns, RHS luckily fixes this
>>34449352
Unknown eastern Europeans made it.
I don't blame you for not trusting it.
>>34449276
I'd be keen.
Does anyone here know any good arma groups to join? The last one i was in fell apart and i can't find a new one at all.

ArmA 3 with mods.
>>34451044

>>34447890
>nothing beats Project Reality.
>trained soldiers of any army not being able to aim for 10 second after sprinting 20yards.
>stubbed your toe on a rock, bleed from your eyes and your 1 bandage can't heal you enough to stop it

It's armchair general fantasy realism the game.

Fuckin dumbass phone app
If you're into flight sims, I'd recommend IL2 Sturmovik 1946. Only costs $10 on Steam and has a large variety of planes (with detailed interiors), camos, weapons loadouts, and maps.
And as always, mods will make the game better. I highly recommend installing the B.A.T. mod for this game since it adds more planes, campaign missions, etc. as well as optimizes and improves the game's somewhat aged graphics.
>>34451632
Sounds like something I could get in to.

Yep, UO used to be pretty fun but

Played it for awhile but it was still relatively new and had very little content at the time, so I got bored quickly. Planning on giving it another go when it gets some more updates.
I, for one, like that people can shut out their bases by removing access before logging out. I've heard alot of people complain about it but offline raids are a fucking cancer the kill all games like it
>>34449154
>Zeus up my own missions

>>34455255
And to answer my own question, just saw the updates up to 3.1 and I'm downloading that shit.
>It Ain't Me intensifies
Arma best just finished 3 hour op
If you're autistic about planes would definitely recommend DCS. It's a pretty great sim but the devs can be fucking retarded.
If you're REALLY autistic Falcon BMS which is a mod for Falcon 4 is great when it comes to the F-16 stuff and it has an amazing dynamic campaign. It's graphics are pretty dated though and you need to sacrifice a goat in order to get everything set up properly.
Cold Waters isn't super autism sim tier but it's a recently released Cold War sub game that is pretty goddamn fun. Needs a lot more content but for what it is it's very nice.
>>34455299
Not OP, but Apex is a must have. Marksmen is pretty useful as well. The others are up to personal preference. If you fly planes or helicopters then yeah.
Don't know if anyone is interested, but if you're looking for a good uboat sim check out Silent Hunter 3. A bit dated but doesnt crash as much as the newer ones and overall a better but in my opinion.
>>34445870
ARMA 3 with mods is easily the best and puts everything else to shame overall, EFT which is coming out to beta soon shows a lot of promise with it's customizability and gunplay and shooting and body mechanics, maybe Squad at some point but I doubt it frankly.
>>34446453
Non modded ARMA is good, just not great. Mods and milsim coop groups is where it becomes the only game that really seems to sate that specific kind of autism.
>>34450514
I love ARMA, much more than Squad, but squad definetly has better performance/optimization even in it's alpha state than ARMA does as a game that has had patches and DLC to address the problems since 2013.
>>34455901
>>34455921
Squad needs the arma zoom focus instead of what it has (because the steady/focus right now is garbage) and RS2's ability to steady weapons around horizontal and vertical surfaces at the very least
>>34453627
Is it bad where I'm at a point where even with ACE and RHS I still wish things were more realistic?
>>34455449
Cold Waters is fantastic.
This is the first screen at the start of the Campaign.
Killing commies for Reagan gives me a freedom boner.
>>34455946
Get an ai mod, i recommend VCOM AI because you can supress enemies, doing things like fire and movement.
>>34455980
I mean like mechanically, more detailed medical system and/or damage systems for when people get shot and deal with blood loss, broken bones, disabled limbs and organs, beyond just bandages and morphine, with the addition of controlling heart rate with epi and morphine the advanced model. Even the advanced medical system seems pretty simple.
I've got ALIVE right now but I'll look into VCOM since the vanilla AI is awful and it's interesting to see how much random modders can do to improve it.
>>34447475
Von why aren't you playing siege
>>34456032
RWS adds some radiation and chemical stuff alongside other things.
>>34445870
Arma 2 and 3 are used by the legit military
I've seen videos of a military sim based on arma 2 where you can talk to artificial arabs in arabic using a microphone
Could they actually be used to train a person to shoot a motherfucker though?
>>34456032
>>34456175
It's pretty outdated through so i dont expect quality or it to even work, but nonetheless ACE has the best medical system in any shooter or even combat game, except rimworld, which has combat aspects, but it's not a combat game.
>>34456217
VBS is the simulator version made by Bohemia Simulations, a company that has some connections but also is meant to function somewhat independently from it I'm sure due to all the military contracts they have not wanting them to take their data and put in into the public sphere.
But yeah, ARMA is about as close as it's going to get for this lifetime.
>>34456236
VBS has almost nothing you can't achieve in arma with mods, maybe except for some little stuff like talking to sand coons with a mic.
>>34456313
I don't think ARMA is capable of doing a 2200x2200 km map, just the 400x400 Australia one stretches the limits there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhUOvbSVCOU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLwMzr-hBII
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51PL1_9rfYk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoLZogUs4No
Maybe some of them are possible with mods but some of this really seems out of reach for ARMA 3 as it stands.
>>34445870
>>34456368
Big price to pay for a few of these features, but for civilian use it proves no value anyway, not enough people own it to use with it anyway, would be good to have through.
>>34456368
The map thing would be good, but the destruction looks pretty crappy desu.
>>34456368
MFW we'll never get VBS
>>34456481
The destruction isn't good, but meh destruction is better than what we have in arma where it's comedically bad.
>>34456651
Yeah, i wish it was bad company 2-tier.
>>34456706
I'd settle for any of the last 3 Battlefield games on destruction, almost anything is better than just watching the building model fall as one uniform mass directly down like its in a see thru elevator to be replaced by a generic rubble object, and it'd be better to have buildings with more than just damaged and undamaged models.
>>34456752
Yeah i think theyre just lazy, maybe its engine limitations but vbs uses the same engine
>>34456368
>>34456528
You can bet your ass we will get it
they are just waiting for average consumer hardware to catch up
>>34456368

>>34456411
Nowhere near out yet but I am excite.
>>34456810
Bullshit. I've got a 7700k OC'd at 4.8 GHz and a 1080ti, and ARMA absolutely fails at taking advantage of high end hardware. The game only got 64 bit a few months ago meaning up until the start of 2017 it couldn't address more than 4 GB of RAM. They're absolutely behind the times on the optimization and utilization fronts.
>>34450475
>The attention to detail in the guns is pretty fantastic
>P226's hammer is always down, never decocked
This will always trigger me in games.
>>34456845
I'm not looking in it for graphics, it's about the features over what ARMA has to offer.
Like, a 2200km x 2200km map is incredibly impressive even if it's just at ARMA 3's 2013 graphics level and doesn't add to that end.
>>34453646
>>34451346
>game is more real than life

>How does that work anyhow?
Something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5HVRczi_sg
One guy runs the enemies, everyone else runs themselves. The Zeus can't control any players but has full control of creating enemies and obstacles, and can take direct control of enemies if he wants to.
Its kind of like being a DM in a D&D campaign As a zeus you gotta think of it more like "What would real life enemies do?" and balance that with "What would be fun for the players". And remember that its not "you vs the players" but rather you're there to ensure the players have fun. You can still challenge the shit out of them, you can still make them die, but ideally in a fun way.
Personally I just set up random ambushes and go on patrol in BMPs and fuck around, of fly helis. Its not that great on your own - ideally you want to zeus for players and provide a fun experience.
There are some great tools that let you provide ambient civilians which are a really nice touch - really feels like your patroling through Afghanistan - random people all over the place, cars, goats, etc.
Then suddenly and RPG flies past your BMP...
>>34453637

Dont get escape from tarkov.
It looks great but has no gameplay.
next to no loot.
The most effective way to play it is to run in with a knife that you cant loose grab a couple of items and ditch.
The second you take one of those sweet guns in you loose it and spend the next week earning it again.
Then there is the camera.. your head bobs, your gun bobs, the grass bobs, the trees bob. motion sickness the game.
>>34457924
