Hello /k/, I need help. I saved this walther from it's previous owner and now I need help to restore it to its former beauty. The only problem is I don't know where to start at all. Anyone that can help or point me in the right direction? I'll update and post the results on /k/, I really can't wait to make this walther great again

How's the bore?
Oh Jesus, Anon. As someone who is waiting whose only inheritance is a walther ppk, I hope you do the right thing and get it professionally refinished.

bore & internals are in good condition, to my suprise. Can't make pictures with flash now because the battery is low, will do whenever I can.

I was really looking forward doing so myself, actually. Is there no way I can make this gun look great again as a newbie?
Also looking to give this one a turnover, I don't like the look

Use this, use DISTILLED WATER for everything or it will fuck it up and turn brown, clean degrease clean and tripple clean then degrease again every part, change water regularly.youtube ag least a dozen videos and follow the above instructions snd it will work great.
>seriously, use distilled water, change it if it looks nasty. Shit is like $1 a gallon at walmart. Degrease pots before heating water, don't use steel pots, use a cheap enameled soup pot from walmart

Lose the pachmayr grips and go to wood. Tuxedo 2-tone looks pretty good with wood.

If the internals are fine that should just buff out, then have it professionally reblued in bluing salts.

Also, test on small parts or scrap steel first. Try a few types of scrap metal since they will give different results.
Also, get a bottle of blue and rust remover, in case you fuck up. And to strip the old blue that's in the cracks on it now.
Above your wheelhouse but if I were refinishing that gun, I'd disassemble and degrease. Then start with 400 grit sandpaper, then 600, then 1000, then 1200, then 1500, then 2000, then 3000, then 4000, then 5000, then plate/blue/paint to your heart's content. Again, not for the faint of heart, but if done right it'll look like a masterpiece.
For a simple clean you can use some steel wool and oil, degrease, then refinish.
