You are indeed correct, Encores have 30 caliber barrels, while contenders do not. Japs probably mixed them up because visually they look the same except for the finish. Man Fate Zero was great, Shirou's dad going around rekting other wizards because he doesn't play by their dumbass wizard rules. Like when he fought blonde wizard guy, and blonde wizard guy set up a bunch of magical bullshit in the hotel he was staying at, because it never entered his mind that someone wouldn't try to come up to his penthouse suite and magic duel him, wizard to wizard. What does Kiritsugu do? Sneaks into the basement, plants C4 on all the support pillars, sneaks back out, calls in a bomb threat to get everyone but blonde wizard(he knew blonde wizard wouldn't evacuate because he knew Kiritsugu was hunting him and thought the bomb call was Kiritsugu upholding the no muggles allowed to see us throw fireballs at each other rule)out of the hotel, then brings the building down around blonde wizard's ears.

My dad really wants an original Contender with a .45-70 barrel and a Ruger No.1 in .45-70 as well.

Kiritsugu's Contender is explicitly stated to be heavily customized to fit his tastes/needs, and the story takes place in 1994 IIRC. This is before the Encore was a thing.

Encore was released in 1983. Can't find concrete dates for Fate Zero, except that it takes place ten years before Fate Stay Night, that much is explicitly stated, as it's noted in the setting that a ten year gap between grail wars is exceptionally short.

The reason I'm pretty sure it takes place in 2004 is because:

1.) The VN itself came out in 2004
2.) The Fuyuki scenario in FGO also takes place in 2004

First deer rifle was a contender in 7-30 Waters. Dad later got me a pistol stock and barrel in .223

Still haven't felt the certainty I did aiming those things with any other firearm. Incredible ergos.

I picked one up not too long ago with a .223 barrel and a scope on top. I really want to get either a 30-30 barrel or a 44 mag barrel and use it for hunting. Illinois is shit and only allows shotgun and handgun hunting of deer, but a rifle caliber handgun is still a handgun.

I saw it in the shop and bought it on a whim, payed $320+tax for it. IDK if I got reamed or not. what's the word on price with these?

Id say you got a good price. They seem to be going for $400 or so nowadays if the barrel is in a desirable caliber. Barrels seem to be pretty pricey, like $125+.
