Universals tend to not work. I have one, too. Try a different magazine first and see what happens. If that doesn't work then take it apart and see how many recoil springs it has. If it has two, it'll never work right. If it has one, you can probably get it to work eventually.

I took IT apart and it has 1 spring. It's like it was made during a weird phase... it appears to be part 1st gen and part 2nd gen. But the one recoil spring it does have is shorter than a USGI... And I can't find shit about it

The 3rd gens are wretched so you dodged a bullet there. 1st gens are actually kind of ok. 2nd gen is when they started running out of surplus parts and you started to see some weird stuff. They aren't really consistent.

If it's not the magazine, and Universal factory supplied magazines were awful, so use a GI mag, then I'd next look at the extractor and see if anything funky was going on there.

I've tried one of those korean mags and had the same issue. Seems to be quite a bit of mag wobble, as if it sits slandered or something. I'll have to get a USGI though and try. I'm upset my order didn't get selected when the cmp had those 2000 carbines

The Korean mags generally work well. The mag wobble doesn't sound quite right...there shouldn't be much play if any in a carbine. That could be an issue.

I'm waiting on Trump to approve the import of the 770,000+ carbines the South Koreans are trying to sell Century. That'll be the Israeli surplus carbines all over again...those things were selling for $150 all over the place in the mid to late 90s and there were only 200,000 or so imported.

I could deal with $500 carbines given current prices. I think they were sales, not FMA, so the CMP can't get them. The CMP will get the Phillipine weapons, though. Century won the bid for the 86,000+ Korean Garands that still haven't been approved for import. I don't think Classic has the swing for a deal that big...it'll be one of the major importers that gets them assuming they are approved for import.

Mine eats CCI Stingers and Mini-Mags just fine, but jammed a bunch with cheapie Federal Automatch. Supposedly the Automatch has basically the same muzzle velocity as the Stingers, but I don't think it really does. With a gun as light as the AR-7 (unlike my WZ-48, which is so heavy you don't feel a thing), you can actually feel recoil from .22, and the recoil from the Stingers was noticeably heavier than from the Automatch.

So yeah - I'll pay the few bucks extra for CCIs from now on.

Bruh they have two different size cartridges and different grain weights projectiles. They say right on the box the muzzle velocity. WHY WOULD you think they were the same muzzle velocity? Federal makes a hyper-velocity 31gr projectile but it still uses a normal length cartridge so they still are not as zippy as the Stingers. Spitfires to be exact.
