I got the chance to shoot a Cx4 the other day and I liked it. It felt crisp, it had almost no recoil, it was light, I liked the sights, and it can take 30 round mags. I've been looking to buy a lightweight rifle of some kind under $1000 and the Cx4 matches the criteria. Is there any reason I shouldn't get one?
>>
>>34440483
So what's it like on the Galactica?
>>
>>34440483
its Italian so be prepared for it to turn on you once the going gets tough
>>
>>34440496
meme
>>34440483
Money is a reason. Maybe the price is okay for you, but it's one reason.
>>
>>34440483
>I've been looking to buy a lightweight rifle of some kind under $1000
So building an ar15 for $500
You can build a carbine version that accepts 9mm mags too if you wish.
>>
I had a Cx4 for a few years and it was a fantastic carbine
>>
>>34440483

I have one in .40. I love it. Doesn't have 30 rounders like the 9mm's but it's a nice compact gun that serves a good purpose.

>>34440521

Or he can spend $600-700 max (they've went down since trump got elected; tried getting one in 9mm a few years ago and couldn't find one under $900) and get a quality military-grade carbine that uses readily available surplus magazines and has traditional pistol ergonomics.

Not knocking the AR but the market is saturated right now and better investment is shit like this that will hold their value in the long run.
>>
>>34440564

What purpose does a carbine length 9mm or .40 serve?
>>
If I was going to buy a gun specifically for home defense it would be near the top of my list.
>>
>>34440521

One thing I forgot to mention that I liked was how compact it felt. I've had the ability to take a hold of a 9mm AR and it felt clunky. The Cx4 magazine is in the grip so it can bring the barrel 3-5 inches closer.

>>34440483
I have one. They're excellent and have less felt recoil than 9mm ARs.
>>
>>34440580
being fun to shoot
>>
>>34440580

It has no kick and it weighs little. Thanks to that, if I want to, I can give it to my sister later on. She doesn't like extremely loud guns and the Cx4 seems quiet.
>>
>>34440611

Subjective

>>34440624

Ok, so just buy it for your sister later? What purpose does it actually serve besides being a range toy?
>>
>>34440580
It doesn't recoil and a 16inch barrel means you're getting the muzzle energy of .357 magnum.

They're also accurate out to 200 yards, and piss easy to shoot at 100.
>>
>>34440580

One magazine platform for multiple weapons, same with one ammo for carbine and pistol. Since a stocked pistol is illegal, this is the next best thing.

Also not as loud when firing, which could be the difference between temporary and permanent hearing loss in a home invasion
>>
>>34440643
They're excellent for home defense or dealing with bullshit in areas without long sight lines.
>>
>>34440654

Why does one ammo type matter or one mag? Just buy more. And you should just put a suppressor on an AR pistol or something, that'd be less long and more powerful for home defense.

>>34440655

No, they aren't, use a 5.56 or buckshot for home defense.

>>34440646

Very cool, but why not 5.56, which is more powerful and barely recoils?
>>
>>34440662
calm you nips, sperglord
>>
>>34440643

That's just looking down the line.
>>
>>34440669

I can not fathom why anyone could find a use for a 9mm carbine when AR's are $400. I'm trying to justify it.
>>
>>34440684
It's been justified. Repeatedly. Some of us can afford to spend the money to own guns that aren't ARs.

also
>AR's are $400
If you're buying 400 dollar ARs, you're a retard. Enjoy your low quality firearms.
>>
>>34440662

I live in an old house and I don't need something like 5.56 slicing through walls or causing permanent hearing damage.
>>
>>34440684
because a pistol-caliber cartridge is more controllable you dunce
>>
>>34440696

It hasn't been justified at all. Besides being a range toy, it's inferior for home defense, long range shooting, marksmanship, competition, etc.

I think you guys are falling for a huge meme and not realizing it.

>>34440697

You are getting permanent damage anyways and 5.56 penetrates less than 9mm through drywall.

>>34440699

Than 5.56? Can you not magdump 5.56 onto a target at 25 yards or something?
>>
>>34440708
>it's fun to shoot and we like it
>but that's subjective guys you're not allowed to own one, it's not much/not enough firepower!

How about you kill yourself Elmer?
>>
>>34440736

The issue is, you people are acting like this has a "purpose" and is some awesome tool, but it's just a beefed up 10/22, essentially.

I will come into every thread for this overpriced 22 and remind you people that you are retarded.
>>
>>34440708

9mm has a shorter action.
>>
>>34440752

An overpriced .22 would be a Browning T-bolt
>>
>>34440684

>shitty billet AR made by Bubba FFL who is trying to avoid bankruptcy because Hillary didn't win
>a weapon made by one of the world's premiere firearms companies that serves in police and military units around the world

It's an intermediate gun. In a way the CX4 is a modern M1 Carbine.
>>
>>34440684
Hurrrr but an AR bro! It's the best rifle/carbine/DMR/sniper ever it does eve tying literally no downsides at all I am completely objective
>>
>>34440873

It's a modern piece of shit when you have 300 blk carbines or 5.56 pistols for the same price or less.
>>
>>34440873

Plus Beretta is nearly 500 years old
>>
>>34440893

Is that an argument? If you like it, that's great. It's your toy. But it's not a tool.

I am amazed at the lengths you go to defend an extremely ill thought out type of gun.
>>
>>34440483
I've been looking for a gun just like this because I want an M1 carbine chambered in a modern caliber, in a more reliable action.
>lightweight semi-auto, 5 lbs range
Check
>cartridge that's cheap to plink with, but as effective as a handgun
Would prefer .40S&W, but 9mm is adequate
>high capacity options
Mags are cheap and compatible with Beretta 92 pistols
>slim design, like an M1 carbine
CX4 is a little chunky with the pistol grip and fat buttstock, but at least it's non-snag
>about as short OAL as you can legally get away with
Check
>inexpensive
...

DESU, the price is the only thing keeping me from buying one. For what I would use it for (basically a plinking gun only), and considering that the entire gun is made of plastic, $650 seems like a lot of of money.
>>
>>34440646
>and a 16inch barrel means you're getting the muzzle energy of .357 magnum.
*citation needed
>>
>>34440932
The FS2000 from what i remember was almost entirely plastic and it cost $3000

>>34440894

Well, prepared to get triggered. Why would I buy an AR when I can buy pic related?
>>
>>34440946
All I'm saying is I can get a Hi Point 9mm carbine for under $300 and they're both about equally impractical guns.
>>
>>34440939

It's a common myth. Go to ballistics by the inch.

>>34440932

Look, it's someone who admits it is a "plinking" (toy) gun and isn't lying to themselves.

>>34440955

I don't know, my point is if you are buying a pistol caliber carbine for anything other than fun you are fucking retarded. I'm not an AR purist.
>>
>>34440955

I don't think that's being made anymore

While we're on topic what's a good sling for it?
>>
>>34440946

It does now because it's been out of production for a while.

I bought a new one back in 2008 for $1600 OTD. FFL couldn't get rid of it and I had cash money.

Sold it during Newtown for forty five hundred clams, and I wish I was joking. Regret selling it though: it was one of the best guns I've ever shot.
>>
>>34440955
This thing is so stupid, but I want one so bad.
>>
>>34440966

It is but I think they stopped importing them here due to poor sales. Can get them in Canada for $2000 rakes.

http://www.cabelas.ca/product/22481/benelli-mr1-tactical-semi-auto-rifle-w-pistol-grip

>>34440967

I run a one-point through the thumbhole, but that's me. I know a guy that frequents the local gun store, he also has one of these, but has a custom made leather sling installed on his you'd expect to see on a lever action.

>I also bought the stormpacker and the front rail. made my life easier.
>>
>>34440899
The ar15 is good at certain things but SBRs are not one of them, no matter how hard they're memed into it
>>
>>34440976
If you're willing to shell out retarded bux, you can even get the Benelli folding stock and install it.

But IIRC those are still cheaper than ARX's and the Benelli will use STANAG.
>>
>>34440988

Give me one reason an AR is not good at being an SBR. Remember, I can buy one and a half for the price of one of these meme machines.

>mfw I just sold my CX4 to purchase an AR
>>
>>34441001
>my face is a giant robot face
I don't understand what you're trying to say. Usually people use "mfw" when posting an image that actually conveys human emotion. For example, pic related is mfw trying to figure out what your face looks like. Get it yet, faggot?
>>
>>34441018

He's ascended past mortal emotions and joined the robot AR master race.
>>
>>34441022
He's still speaking human language, not binary, so I don't think he has.
>>

Are you saying you can't read emotion in that animated cartoon cell?
>>
>>34440994
>Remember, I can buy one and a half for the price of one of these meme machines.
>still going on about 400 dollar ARs
We're talking about firearms, not new and inventive ways to practice failure drills.
>>
>>34441018
It is the facial expression if you can't actually tell what the face is trying to convey, you may have autism.
