says who? You? some k/unt? The largest limitations of sonar detection are 1) DSP processing power 2) number of emitters in the sensor net. China doesn't lack either one. Haven't for like 15 years.

why reinvent the wheel when America has been operating super carriers for 40+ years and have it down to a science? Right now they haven't done much with them. Wait for them to try and run 24 hr ops with out radiating and we'll see what happens,
>>34443258
>Suspicion.
STOBAR carriers can never have jets take-off fully loaded. It's the main reason why the system elicits so much mockery. Although to be absolutely fair, the Kuznetsov-class which the Liaoning is derived from, seems to be have intended primarily as a counter-air asset, making the limited payload less of an issue because jets taking off in air-to-air configuration are going to be lightly loaded to begin with.
>>34440518
>sensor array work for USN "next gen" sonobuoys.
so was that for the surface or subsurface fleet?
>>34442393
>carriers
>on ship ASW
no, they do not. literally no carriers do because they're wildly ineffective at it. that's why the US moves entire CSGs, and not just a carrier.
>>34443417
>air-to-air configuration are going to be lightly loaded
In the era of advanced EW you're going to want to have as many missiles, countermeasures and PODZ as possible.
That 6U rack and extra radar guided missile you left behind to save takeoff weight could be the difference between life and death

>>34443457
yes, I am aware of that. which makes the majority of SB work for the Surface fleet. just because you work on ASW, AAW, ASUW, etc. doesn't restrict you to one fleet. so did anon do his work for the Surface side of the operation, or the Subsurface?

It helps that the body of the Su-33 is rather large compared to most other fighter jets. It can carry enough fuel internally that it won't need drop pods in most situations.

Yes, says me. The fact that you don't know that China is severely lacking in MPA and ASW aircraft throws your claims that you have done work on sonobuoy systems into question.

>Butthurt about China.
Believe me, the only few people in this country who care that fucking much about China's ascendancy are autistic military nerds and fear mongering politicians. I really dont think that anyone else here even gives thought to the China issue. Its not the 50s anymore so the whole thing about obsessing over where your country ranks economically and militarily is something only done by geriatrics.
>>34443541
Pods as in EW and countermeasure pods for electronic upgrades. These can also be internal but if you're pressed for weight I doubt you'll be stuffing new electronics in there either.

With the confirmed payload of 2xAShMs and 2x SRAAM the J15 can took off with little more than 2 tons... This seems small, but that's the weight of a Max CAP load out of 8x PL-12 and 4x PL-8.
Not bad at all.

The issue is that they don't have very many of them. Certainly not enough completely sanitize the area of US and allied subs. they have a huge coast line and with them expanding, only so many subs, ASW frigates and MPA to cover it all.

all these books will say the exact same thing from much smarter men who have actually been to all these weapon and air shows we drool about here on /k/. Even if I had looked at Wikipedia itself, it would still show a lack of aircraft (both fixed and rotary wing) that can carry out ASW patrols (not to mention, if war were to breakout, those rates would plummet, do to losses and maintenance). One of China's biggest concerns is ASW warfare, it's something they have been way behind in.
