Sup /k/

I live in Norway and am a new member in a pistol club and I'm looking to purchase a .22 pistol in the coming months (currently borrowing on a session basis)

I'm looking at the Ruger MkIV Lite, would you say this is a sensible purchase or would I be better off with something else? The light weight and picatinny are appealing to me, it's also crazy easy to take apart...

Thanks in advance! Also handheld plinker thread?
>>
>>34435060
youve listed your criteria and it seems like a good choice.
>>
>>34435060
You're good-to-go with this pistol.
>>
A really nice .22. I had one in my hand last weekend at my LGS and was really impressed. Were it not for the fact that they had the gun I went to buy in stock that day (Walther PPQ) I would have bought this little gem.

Awesome thanks, think I'm gonna go ahead with this one then! Slap on a red dot, halo ring and suppressor
>>
>>34435060
Solid choice. If you want to spend crazy money, the model 41 is by far the nicest 22 pistol I have ever shot. But the ruger mark is a great gun and if for some reason you find your self with a older one, majestic arms makes a speed strip kit for simple bolt removal.
>>
>>34435060
It's good. The best thing is you can even put some anime grips on it.

Just buy a bow and leave the fun stuff to the adults who can be trusted by their government to own guns okay?

I think it was just the lites

If you could get the integrally suppressed varient, that would be extremely cool.

Stupid question, but are the grips replaceable on the 22/45 lite?
>>
>>34435264
The only ones that seem to be getting shipped over here are blued and burnt bronze which is what I'm leaning towards... if the green one you posted was readily available here it would be a tough choice!
>>
>>34435368
Yep, accidental discharge issue with the slider release or something I believe, just gotta make sure the serial no starts with 500

you should buy a shot timer too

Silly question but is the threaded barrel a universal threading that virtually all .22 handgun suppressors and whatnot fit on or is it more specific than that and if so what's the specs? Thanks! I know very little about these aspects of firearms
>>
>>34435516
Machinist here. It would depend on the outside diameter of the thing you want to thread.

Adapters are a thing, its not really a big deal.
>>
>>34435516
Virtually all 22 and 9mm is threaded in 1/2x28. Virtually all 22 cans with fixed threads are in 1/2x28. Yes, there are exceptions like my savage 64f that I sold last month in which case you'll need a thread adapter.
>>
>>34435544
Sweet thanks, so it's just about the diameter not any kinda depth/density (turns per inch?) of the thread?
>>
>>34435392
none of us do, anon, that's why our country included the right to bear arms in our bill of rights. Ultimately, that amendment exists so that we (should) have the power to destroy and replace a government which no longer behaves in our best interests. Unfortunately, when military technology advanced to such a degree that small arms owned by civilians could no longer pose a threat to the U.S. military, the second amendment wasn't updated to keep us in power, so now we live in fear of them just like the founding fathers were afraid we would.

Buuuuut, thanks to the vestigial effects of the 2nd amendment, i can plink with a 15-round magazine without a license, and most europeans can't.
>>
>>34435559
No its a combination of all three, the anon above us said 1/2-28. So you would need an outside diameter of .490-.500" and you would need 28 threads per inch. I dont have my machinist handbook on me but i would guess that the threads would be about .032" deep to the side.

Good goy. Obama was the tyranny amirite?

Thank god the USA is saved again!
>>
>>34435779
where in the hell did you get that from my post? I literally explained in detail that i'm terrified of my government and that most Americans are, and that because the 2nd amendment was tossed to the wayside as warfare modernized, we are powerless to protect ourselves from things like the >patriot act, wmd lies, NSA snooping, wallstreet getting a bailout, police milizarisation and shooting anyone with impunity..

learn to fucking read before you insult me
>>
>>34435243
different anon here, is this like a high-end precision shooting pistol? I liked the look of the gun and am in the market for a new handgun, but was surprised to find that even the .22 model costs almost 600 dollars.

HOLD UP GOOFY

Check out the mark 4 tactical. Its got the 22/45 lower with a threaded bull barrel on top. Still a really light gun.
>>
>>34435850
Nah you can get one right now for about three fiddy

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/662357646
>>
>>34435867
Btw that bottom rail comes off and ruger will send you shorter filler screws for free if you call and ask for them. The mark 4 lites also have a problem with the barrel nut coming loose, so look into that if you end up with one of those.
>>
>>34435867
>light gun

I want this meme to end. Weight is a sign of quality god damnit
>>
>>34435885
Its light because of the polymer lower, the upper part has no lightening features on it. 22/45s are solid guns all around, not sure I can relate with that autism.
>>
>>34435899

>>
>>34435917
Not really no
>>
>>34435910
Well then yea that makes sense.
>>
>>34435922
Well, weight is more a sign of durability and longevity than it is "quality", because quality is a blanket term covering many criteria. In those two fields, Hi-Points are pretty fucking fantastic; fantastic enough that the manufacturer is confident enough that they offer to repair or replace any malfunctioning hi-point with no questions and no receipt.

Does Ruger make a 22/45 Mark IV with a threaded barrel and metal frame?

I'm looking at getting a .22LR pistol since I've got a friend who enjoyed shooting last time I took her, but can't handle 9mm out of a handgun (she's a super-petite 80-something pound girl), and I need something semi-auto to burn through the cases upon cases of .22LR I've stockpiled since Sandy Vag. I also ideally want it with a threaded barrel since I've got an Obsidian 45 in NFA jail and Rugged said it's perfectly usable with both super- and subsonic .22 since the can is user serviceable.

The 22/45 Tactical is currently my front runner, but I'd prefer a metal frame instead of polymer if possible.
>>
>>34436150
I've looked time and time again but it appears they do not sell one with a metal frame. You would have to somehow find a stripped mark 4 frame.
>>
>>34436179
Gay. How much is a quality replacement threaded barrel for the standard Mark IV then? I know the grip angle is different than I'd prefer, but if I handle one and like it, it might not be that bad.
>>
>>34436150
stockpiling .22 you don't have the short-term intention to shoot is utter faggotry. People like you made it hard as shit for my family to plink on the weekends because you constantly bought up the local stores. They had to implement 1-case-per-person at all my local stores because of this.
>>
>>34436217
Cases was the wrong term; I meant bricks. I've only got about 3-4K of .22LR right now.

In my defense, I intended to buy an M&P 15-22 to use as a training gun since .223/5.56 was so hard to find at the time, but I never got around to it. I tapered off my .22 buying pretty quick, but considering my only .22 at the moment is a bolt gun, I still have way too much of the stuff and need something I can reliably burn through it with.

My Model 41 is more accurate than my 10/22. I haven't had my hands on a Victory yet, but I've heard good things about them. Not sure if it will be THAT accurate though.

Yeah thats an up-there .22 pistol. if you can find a p422 though there like a third the price and though not as regal, technically the successor to the 41 (same mags, i think s&w gave up on target pistols for a while)

Never underestimate the difficulty of fighting a decently armed guerilla force. See: Iraq 1, Iraq 2, Afghanistan, Korea, Vietnam.
>>
>>34435443
There is much aftermarket grip panel options for the mk4, but the mk3 in your pic has more options.

1911 grips can be used with a bit of modification to them.

/smith/ here. I cut threads on barrels all day every day. it's about .0275" typical thread depth for 1/2-28
