Has there been any weird trigger designs for weapons? Anything different then the one pictured? Is it the best way to have it?
The 1911 is pretty weird, honestly. Most guns have used and will continue to use a pivoting body for the trigger, but the 1911 trigger is a sliding block that presses directly on the sear through the disconnector. The pivoting trigger makes more sense in most contexts outside of the single action handgun.

Well a lot of the modern big mounted dakkadakka guns have buttons or little levels
Other than that, you're gonna have to go ask Ian about some impact trigger system set off by punching the target like in Inglorious Basterds

Winchester thumb trigger single shot.

Saw this on forgotten weapons and thought it was pretty cool. Probably the simplest striker design possible, combing the sear and the trigger into one.

here's the single piece trigger, sear, and extractor

Have you ever shot any of these thumb trigger guns?

Honestly a great design as far as human engineering goes. Wonder why more guns don't do this.

Overly complicated and a GPMG doesnt really need semi.
Most MGs with a rate about 550-750rpm can just tap single shots from a simple fullauto trigger group anyway.
