My Swiss Vetterlei, brought to America by my great-great grandfather when he came to America from the "old country" as grandma put it. I know they were Polish, well technically it was part of the Russian Empire at that time, not sure where exactly they left from

My grandma, who cleaned out the house of guns when I was too young to have them, gave most of them to my cousins, then a few years ago she said "I found a very old Swiss rifle and I know you like antique guns so you can have it" and I assumed it would be a Schmidt-Rubin or K31 and got stoked, then as I slowly unraveled the quilt it was in and saw this funky thing I'd never heard of, I was a mixture of confused and dissapointed, but even though I can't get ammo for it anymore it still makes a neat wall hanger and I guess is technically an heirloom

Neat man! I have two of those! One is a shitty sporter I bought for the bolt and the other is in the same condition as yours. If you really want to shoot it, you can convert it to center fire or I have some rime fire ammo made in the 1970s for it for sale.

There was a Vetterli at the same auction I got my Kar88 at, and it was in even worse condition than the 88. It made me sad to look at it. Couldn't justify bidding any more on it though. You have a beautiful rifle, keep her pretty.

Hell no man, it might not be much in terms of usefulness but I have plenty of other guns for shooting. My ancestor brought this with him when he came to America to live the dream and start the family that led to me, I ain't selling it. Even if I wanted to they don't go for much. It's a cool wallhanger with a cool story
