Should I get this over an SLR 107?
http://www.jgsales.com/mobile/cai-vz2008-sporter-vz58-style-rifle,-7.62x39,-with-composite-stock,-milled-receiver.-p-4624.html
Is there anything it has over an AK?

Enlighten me on this piece of czechnology
>>
>>34424380
>Vz-2008
No
>D-Technik or new CZ-USA
Yes.

As always, don't buy shit that Century's monkeys have worked on. Granted, people have some that work fine, but there's also way too many that have them that are not fine.
>>
>>34424380
They're great guns, but there are pros and cons to it over an ak. Do some research and make up your own mind.
>>
>>34424380
>should i get a century over an arsenal
i'm alarmed that anyone who's been on /k/ for more than 45 minutes even has to ask this question
>>
>>34424380
As with most czech guns its a very well built peice of work. If you want an AK though get the Arsenal as this is not an AK. The VZ is a sleeper for sure, great gun thats still under appreciated
>>
>>34424425
Century doesnt make them iirc, they just import them and make them 922r compliant.

Fuck I thought this was for an actual VZ58

Listen to this guy
>>34424412
>>
>>34424437
Me too I'm >>34424413, we got none of vz2008s in Canada. Just cz858s and vz58s. Don't fucking buy the vz2008
>>
>>34424431
If I remember correctly, some of the compliance parts they swap are in the action and trigger of the rifle, which is the cause of the problems.
>>
>>34424380
Pro's:
Lighter than an AK
Milled receive makes side mounted optics hold zero better (no receiver flex)
Can be fed with stripper clips
Better ergonomics

Cons:
Not as reliable (not that much but it is, keep your gun maintained)
Significantly less aftermarket support
Proprietary magazines

I've been told VZ's are more accurate than AK's but the practical difference would no doubt be absolutely negligible, especially with 7.62x39.
>>
>>34424412
>>34424475
>>34424431

Day/k/are everyone.

A vz58/2008 is in no way better than an ak. Its a snowflake gun with uncommon mags and a microscopic amount of aftermarket support.
The trigger on vz rifles is dogshit as well having a narrow trigger face and a long AF trigger reset that cant be fixed.
Get the slr
>>
>>34424523
I've shot an AK and VZ side by side, and did not see any difference in accuracy, regardless of ammo type being used.

VZ is definitely a cool little gun, but the AK has a nearly unlimited availability of parts and accessories in the event that something breaks (which it will if you run the platform seriously) or you just want to change things like the furniture or trigger. With a VZ, you're pretty much stuck with what you've got, good or bad.

I would say it's like the C93 vs Ar-15

Nice furniture.
Where'd you get it from? And is the wood handguard better at absorbing heat than the beaver-barf handguard?

This is an original Czech army furniture (from 60/70's) I had only slightly refinish the surface.

Wood handguard absorbs heat much better that "wood bakelite" It is comfortable even during longer and faster fire.

If you want one imo get an original surplus. They are the best.

OP, the vz2008 is fine in itself. The vz. 58 sporter will usually always work the aftermarket accessories whereas the vz2008 would require modification due to how Century made the receivers. And the vz. 58 sporter also comes with a tabbed bolt-carrier which eliminates the possibility of the nasty "gremlin" trigger glitch on the civilian version.
>>
>>34424380
No. Get the SLR

I really like it still. Having trouble getting the castle nut off to switch over to the folding stock.
>>
>>34427888
That's what's cool about the vz. 58. If need be you can fix the magazine and feed it with stripper clips.

i mean back when they were $450 with 6 mags then yeah the vz would have been superior.

now a days i dont know, slr-107s are still pretty expensive.

depends
>>
>>34427628
>.223 compace vz58
eh, I prefer the 7.62x39 one
>>
>>34427897
A little over $1000 isn't that expensive when it comes to guns.
>>
>>34427898

in terms of practicality sure but the big 7.62 mags look dumpy coming out of the compact.
>>
Should I get the CSA LPM sidemount or an RS regulate?

I was thinking of getting one of those 3x prisms from Primary Arms.
>>
>>34424380
cheap knockoff ak don't get it dosent even take ak mags

railed upper handguard and a red dot
>>
Vz advantage over AK
Huge ejection port (the entire fucking to of the receiver)
Bolt hold open.
Built in speed loader(or ability to pop in trace) without removing the mag.
Lighter, thinner, lighter magazines too
Tons of aftermarket plastic Jew junk from zahal
More accurate than a ak due to machined receiver and lack of lateral flex.

I Miss my VZ honestly.
Got it for my 20th birthday when it was $420 with all the shit. Though I don't regret that I traded it for an A1 build from an old Vietnam vet.
