I have a picture I was hoping maybe /k/ could help me out with. First quick backstory.... I found this about 30 years ago when I was a kid. We had moved to a city that was very sparsely populated in Central Florida. As such folks occasionally dumped trash in the woods on the many empty streets (streets all laid out but no houses back then). I came across one such pile and saw 2 wooden crates (used to hold 1.25" smoke rockets) with misc junk in them. The only things that interested me was a M256A1 Chemical Agent Detector Kit and a picture of soldiers dragging a dead body.
This would have been around 1987 and the pic was fairly worn when I found it. So I am assuming it was early 80's to maybe '84 when it was taken. Just curious if you guys might have some insight into where, when and why it might have ended up in the trash in FL. Just a curiosity since I was a kid that I always wondered about.
I think the watch on the soldier to the middle right is a swatch style watch. Not sure what model M16's. Uniforms look like jump suit type woodland camo but I am not good at identifying them. As for region I am thinking maybe Central america but I can't tell by the dead dudes face. Whatcha think?
TLDR; Found pic related as a kid around 1987, wondering what ya'all can tell me about it.

By where and when I am meaning where it was taken and when. Why obviously is someone brought it back then discarded it but maybe the better question is who as in Military adviser ETC
Photo paper it was developed on has no brand markings or writing.

OP here,Grenada always stuck in my mind based on time period, but I honestly don't know.
Last post before I hit bed, like I said Grenada sticks in my brain but the damn camo jumpsuits throw me off. Can't find any pics online with the same but most don't show regional forces.

Judging by weapons, gear, and uniforms, it points to South/Central America.
The man they are dragging appears to be civilian, and with that my mind recalls some ethnic cleansing in El Salvador in the 80's.
Pic related is of some soldiers of the Atlacatl Battalion, who were U.S. trained and supplied.
They were also investigated in the 90's for war crimes, namely ethnic cleansing. See links below.

The uniforms/camouflage/equipment seem to match the photos of the Atlacatl Battalion I can find from that time period.
This is all speculation, but you never know.
Atlacatl being trained
Op here, holy shit I think you figured it out, it looks dead on, plus the lack of insignia. So probably one of the US trainers must have moved into the area and at some point dumped his shit where I found it. Thanks for solving the mystery man!
In case there was any interest, my wife reminded me I had kept one of the boxes and one of the tubes I found the junk in. It was 2.75 inch rocket warheads filled with White Phosphorous. The little I could find was these should have been the type used in rocket pods. And no, didn't find any warhead just the 2 crates and a couple of tubes along with all the junk.
