Anyone ever tried the Maxim Defense CQB stock? What would be the shortest barrel you'd use one with?
>>
>>34421472
Reported. :^)

>>34421404
Short answer; you can make the creep shorter and the pull weigh less, that's about it. It's still a mush trigger, although some do a pretty damn good job at faking a "sear break" effect on the really light shit.

Also you can do crazy short resets, which are arguably more important than trigger feel.

Capacity and caliber is only one component to a weapon, and it certainly doesn't make it the best.

This is why I went back to Glock. I had an M&P 9L for a few years, but the aftermarket wasn't there at the time. It has come a long way toward catching up since then though.

If someone were absolutely against the Glock for whatever reason, the only other striker fired pistol I'd recommend is the M&P. To be honest, it does feel and look better to me.

The M&Ps always seem like the Streamlight to Glock's surefire to me though. A reasonable quality copy, but not the professional's first choice.

I don't know if I hate their triggers, I've never owned a Block. So I figured if I was going to buy a Block, it would be the least shit Block I could build, with a grip angle designed for actual human hands.

I like the Sig P226 trigger, and that's a creepy trigger. It's just extremely smooth so it's nice to use, and I'm hoping the Block will be similar. It's like an ALG AK trigger compared to a Geissele SSA-E. The ALG is very smooth, but it has no wall and no crisp break like an actual good trigger.

>>34421889

>>34421869
I hope this is the case or else I'm going to be one of those assholes sellings a $1500 custom glock on Armslist for $700.

>>34421868
Between the P320 and the Glock? A big part of this is the aftermarket and price considerations. Things unfortunately external to the actual shooting feel of the gun. As far as I can tell from finger fucking the P320 trigger is more crisp, but the bore axis is pretty high, something I don't like much about my P226. I don't foresee any actual trigger kits of the P320 for a while (the apex flat doesn't really do much AFAIK), and the bottom line is I want the RMR on there. It is simply easier and cheaper to get the RMR on a Glock.
>>
>>34421900
Easiest way to improve a glock trigger is to use the 3.5lb connector. Glock triggers really aren't bad, they're different. The best way I can explain it is to use the trigger safety as the tell for where to apply pressure for a straight shot. Too many people push on a glock trigger and cant hit shit.

What are you talking about?
>>
>>34421900

Now is actually a pretty good time to get into a glock, they've finally started to listen to consumer demand.

The MOS line with modular optic slots milled into them came out about a year ago. Metal OEM sights are becoming the norm, finally. Lastly, they are offering some models with front serrations finally.

Once Glock offers an MOS with front serrations, which will be soon, you should go that route.

You'll need some aftermarket sights for a proper co-witness with most optics though. I went with tritium Dawson Precision sights. They're the bees knees.

You'll need to do some filing to install them though.

One last bit of advice: get a glock in 40sw or 357 SIG.

You can convert those to 9mm with a simple barrel swap (and the corresponding magazines), but due to the design of the ejector, 9mm pistols can't be stepped up to 40sw/357 SIG.

The 40-9 conversion barrels aren't too much, and you're going to be buying a threaded one anyway for your cans.

HELP

I'm really new to ARs and guns in general

I occasionally like to pull back on the lever that you're supposed to pull after putting a magazine in

It would pull back fine without issue and I'd feel the resistance as it went back towards the gun after I let go

But now it seems to be broken and just slides freely without clambering a bullet at all and its like leaked a bit of grease onto the stock

What caused this to happen and how do I fix it?

Not going to lie, slightly nervous i broke something

Like I said the lever slides freely with no resistance and doesn't do anything at all now

Everybody starts somewhere.

What happened is normal function. When the magazine runs out of rounds, the bolt catch (the thing the arrow is pointing at) will... catch the bolt, locking it to the rear. You insert a new magazine, push the bolt catch, and the bolt is released to strip a new round from the fresh magazine and load it into the chamber.

If the bolt is locked to the rear, the charging handle (the dangly thing you thought was broken) is not connected to anything. Normally it's held in place by the spring loaded latch on the left side of the charging handle.

I'd recommend not keeping any compatible ammunition in the same zip code until you are more comfortable with the rifle.

And I shot mine yesterday, the can is a PSD Megalith, and my buddy brought his SCAR to the farm to play.

I had XM80 and Hornady Black 168 grain.

Impressions:
The stock Blackhawk! furniture is terrible, I'm glad I had the memepul grip and stock laying around.
This blaster is really accurate for a carbine being shot offhand, I think the reported accuracy in the GUNs.com review is going to be achievable when I get a bipod and a magnified optic. As it was, I went 18/20 on a 4 inch AR500 gong at 100 yards, offhand, and I didn't have a sling or anything.
The adjustable gas is nice, I shut it completely off into "bolt action mode", and then turned it back up until it was barely cycling with the stock brake, and then it made a nice tight little pile of .308 brass about 5 feet away when I put the can on it.
You get way less gas in your face than you do with the SCAR. On either gas setting, the SCAR blasts your face with gas when suppressed.
The Savage is also way quieter than the SCAR.

Overall I'm very happy, definitely worth $1099.

I'm a big brass shill. It helps to motivate me to pick my cases up, which helps keep the shooting spots from looking like a dump. Plus the bullets are generally higher quality in brass ammo with no steel in the bullet itself. This reduces wear on the rifling over the long lifetime of the barrel (10k-30k rounds of ammo). Finally I think they might run marginally cleaner than a lot of steel ammo, but the big positives for me are keeping the range clean, and recouping the initial cost increase of the ammo. I've almost got 3k of once fired .223 brass. I think I'll try to sell it this fall and I'll report back what I end up getting for it.

Steel honestly is fine though, especially if you're shooting at an actual range. They run magnets and sell the steel cased stuff to scrapyards eventually.

>It helps to motivate me to pick my cases up, which helps keep the shooting spots from looking like a dump.
This is pretty poor justification. Trash, shotgun shells, and shot up TVs are the kinds of shit that ruin shooting spots. Brass jews will pick up any brass left within a week of it being there. Nobody comes to collect steel case but it is far less intrusive as it oxidizes quickly and lacks the inital luster of brass. You essentially have to be right ontop of steel cases or someone has to have a mount of good amount for you to casually notice.
>This reduces wear on the rifling over the long lifetime of the barrel (10k-30k rounds of ammo)
If you are basing this off the luckygunner test this is flawed methodology. Their entire test is based on mag dumping as quick as possible for thousands of rounds, this is clearly going to exacerbate any sort of wear for anything mechanical. Additionally even their testing shows that steel with 2 barrels is still hundreds of dollars cheaper than brass with no new barrels. If accuracy of your barrel was a concern those 2 new barrels from steel case savings will obviously provide better accuracy than a single shot out barrel.

Pretty hard to police when everyone uses the local prairie grasslands as a dump for their appliances and garbage. This is why we have almost no designated spots to shoot out here now, fucking shitty people.

Oh and I don't know if you are the other anon who was talking about this yesterday, but the Magnum Research MR9 isn't just a clone of a Walther P99, the parts are FROM Walther in Germany, except for the slide and barrel. So if you can do without the Walther banner or wierd P99 Gen 2 looks, you can basically get a new """P99""" for $450-500.

>Brave New World
>not extremely relevant to current affairs
>>
>>34426444
I'm rereading it. I remember liking 1984 more as a kid, but this time around Brave New World is fantastic.

Motivated by a discussion I had with a lefty friend the other day about contraception, increased sexual promiscuity in society, misandry/feminism, and the reduction of the father role.

>“It was the sort of idea that might easily decondition the more unsettled minds among the higher castes-make them lose their faith in happiness as the Sovereign Good and take to believing, instead, that the goal was somewhere beyond, somewhere outside the present human sphere, that the purpose of life was not the maintenance of well-being, but some intensification and refining of consciousness, some enlargement of knowledge.”

Anti-hedonist redpills such as that might just be the ticket to make statements such as "you don't have a right to have unprotected sex without the risk of getting pregnant" a bit more palatable to brainwashed women.

Last P99 AS I saw on there was a 425 dollar one in March, I'm kicking myself for not looking there sooner because I was in the market. I'll definitely keep my eye on it, though. I'm hoping Walther brings in their batch sometime this summer, though.
>>34426319
I'm aware of the MR9, I just want my Walther banner.

Thanks for being helpful, though!

How do you feel about the PPX? I pretty much never see anyone talk about it. Is your PPS having that peening issue?
>>
>>34426783
The PPX has an AWESOME trigger for the price, and even though it looks terribly uncomfortable, it fits hand anatomy very nicely. Because the slide is so huge, recoil is relatively light as well.

The trigger is DAO, but really it isn't. It's more like a fully pre-charged DAO like a PPQ, but using a hammer instead of a striker. It's unique as far as I know. The hammer spring remains compressed after racking but the hammer itself raises and lowers with the trigger. So the pull is light until the stage, then the break is extremely clean. If I pull deliberately slow, the trigger will have a hitch of creep one out of every ~30 trigger pulls, but it's not something you would notice under any other condition. I noticed because I'm a trigger snob, and the PPX is definitely what I'd call "good." When you factor in the $300 price, I would call it "great."

I haven't heard of peening on the PPS, but the P22 has that problem because of its zinc slide. Mine hasn't been damaged.
