Do you expect bears to break in?
>>
No. Yes.
>>
>>34416498
Yes
>>
>>34416498
They are perfect for fending off skinwalkers
>>
Kek. I asked this question once and the uniform response was "what the fuck is wrong with you?"
>>
>>34416493
There also exits a 45-120, doesn't there? IIRC it's what Tom Selleck used in "Quigley"
>>
>>34416493
If it can kill some large animal it can kill a nigger so I would say it's pretty good.
>>
No one has ever died from overpenetration. Use the biggest fuckoff load you can get.
>>
>>34416493
When you knock on your walls, are they hollow or solid? That alone should answer your question.
>>
>>34416531

My father in law has one. Fucking hilarious fun.
>>
>>34417057
>Fucking hilarious fun
you mean shooting niggers?
>>
>>34416493
Yes, with hollow points. A 12 gauge would be a much better option though.

Yes. .50 BMG is probably the only thing that would over-penetrate more than a hard cast lead .45-70

>/k/ reacts to the idea of self-defense with 45-70 the same way liberals react to 5.56mm
>>
Is there a belt fed 45-70? Why not?
>>
>>34417766
no because it's a big obsolete cartridge
>>
>>34416531
It's a blackpowder cartridge

Standard .45-70 smokeless is more powerful, which is why so many fudds have nuked original Springfield trapdoors with it.

they have multi-shot for home defense
>>
>>34416493
Not really "good" but It kills shit good.
>>
>>34416493
>Would it overpentrate much?
The fuck does that matter if you hit them first it's going to dump energy on them first and not the wall. Big difference between shooting a wall and it just over penetrating that, or shooting a person and then it going through a wall.
>>
>>34416511

This is unironically the only reason why I would ever need a gun where I live.

Is a 9.3x62 on the same level?
>>
>>34417690
Day/k/are is a thing
>>
>>34417883
i'd say the 9.3 is even more powerful. great option for a bolt action hunting rifle whereas 45-70 shines in the lever action
>>
>>34416493
Depends.
If you are living anna rural area and its your deer/boar gun it will justify it to the local authorities when used in SD so yes.

If your are living inna flat and bought a marlin guide gun for shit & giggles then NO.

and it go trough any modern car except large engine block,

I used to have a repro sharps that i sold for a early 1894 winchester, shit was digging holes in the shooting hill...
>>
>>34417875
It matters depending on where you live if it over penetrates and kills your neighbor.
>>
>>34417788
So is 7.62x54R and 7.62x39, yet here we are.

A belt-fed .45-70 would give fudds and full auto tacticools the weirdest boners ever.
>>
>>34416493
It's OK for self defense. There are better rounds out there, but it would certainly get the job done.
>>34416493
>Would it overpentrate much?
Not if you use a lightweight bullet. Sectional density and expansion are what determine penetration.
>>
>>34418237
I think that's bullshit. You could over penetrate and kill someone with a 25auto. You could do it with a black powder musket ball even more easily than with the weakest automatics with even slower reloading and lower capacity. You sound like an ambulance chaser that doesn't give a shit about any of this.

I wonder if you could design a bolt and barrel combo to covert a Browning 1917 to .458 SOCOM
Now that'd be something
>>
>>34416511

I wouldn't worry about it.
>>
>>34417766
Well, the original gatling gun is, but that feeds from a hopper, not a belt.
>>
>>34416493
It's a great home defense round, good choice! You can't go wrong with this.
You'll be deaf forever if you shoot this inside but anything you hit is dead.
I'd say go for it and get those Lehigh rounds and you are good to kill a grizzly!
>>
>>34418068
You can get a CZ 550FS in 9.3x62 as well.
>>
>>34416493
It'll work in a pinch especially if you are dealing with a single intruder but for reasons of recoil, follow up shot speed, and magazine capacity it's not ideal.
>>
>>34420209
.45 Raptor would be much easier and it's a better cartridge I'm general
>>
>>34420191
Best I can do is a anti-air Vickers in 11mm Gras.

Load up with some 500 gr Nosler Partition bullets and partition whoever you're shooting at.

In a lot of northern areas, moose and bear are more likely than Jamal and Tyrone.
