i dunno about the USAF but the TAF is planning to replace f4s with f35s and f16 with the new 5th generation stealth figter which will be produced in like 10 years dunno

This. They have already completed an unmanned f16 flight a couple years ago. Of course not all of them will go that route. It will probably start off with the air guard getting passed down the newer of the 16s. You can bet we will also gu and sell the bare aircraft to other countries.
