I put a Fastfire on my wasr. I really don't like it very much here; I can't quite put my finger on why. Should I go back to irons and put the FF on my incoming Vepr 12? Should I put a Prinary Arms micro dot on the vepr?

The Viper is alright, but I prefer the Venom.

The Viper only has a HUGE 6 MOA dot. You have to take it off to change the battery. It also doesn't have an ambient light sensor.

The Venom is offered in 3 MOA and 6 MOA dots, you can change the battery without removing the optic, and it has an ambient light sensor.

However, you have to buy expensive high sights from Dawson Precision to work with a Venom.

Standard suppressor height Ameriglo sights will work with the Viper.
>>
>>34412398
>>34411999

I forgot, the Venom has an auto shutoff, I don't think the Viper does.
>>

Yes, and having both eyes open only improves your field of vision on the non-dominant side. Any obstruction from the sight on the dominant side is still there.

I picked up a PST Gen II recently. I'm currently dumping all my shit optics and going all Vortex. The only optic I've ever used that I've liked better was a S&B on an old guys 2.5 ton bench rest rifle. I have yet to see anything under $2500 come close to competing with even some of the cheaper vortex scopes.

I've looked through everything, AimPoints, EoTechs, and even the cheaper ones out of pure hope, but everything looks like fireworks.

The only solution is $1,000+ magnified optics like ACOGs or that shitty etched red dot Trijicon also makes at the same price of an AimPoint.

Anyone else know this feel or how to correct it?
>>

From reading about them online holosuns are reasonable good but have poor quality control, you might get shipped a defective one right from the start or you might have one that seems to be working that breaks a year later.

Their customer support is supposed to be pretty good though.

Holosun is the OEM which makes the Primary Arms red dots which the americans seem to like so much.

>>
>>34412647
Kek. That's not how life works anon. If you shoot with both eyes open, which is literally the point of a RDS or holo sight you see everything. Hold up 1 finger in front of your face and look past it with both eyes open, is it blocking anything? No.
>>
>>34416652
The 2.5x is an amazing value. Great glass and daylight bright illumination. I'm not sure how the 3x compares but it's probably just as good.
>>
>>34416672
Stay away. Questionable quality and not built to AR15 standards.
>>
>>34416683
Will the 3x be too magnified for CQB? If i whip out the gun during a home invasion would like to know I could acquire the target still. I'm leaning towards the 3 if the difference is only $80.
>>
>>34416693
>Will the 3x be too magnified for CQB?
Probably. The 2.5x was almost too much, but definitely still usable. I'm sure with training you could be almost as fast as a red dot with either.

>>
>>34416712

Sticking it on a Rugter 556 that I got for like $430. The sight is almost as much as the gun! Yeah I think I'm going with the 3x then. I'll just have to practice for CQC
>>
>>34416740

>>
>>34416666
>I really don't get how people can't understand that they're the same fucking thing.

Supposedly Primary Arms does some extra QC before shipping, but aside from branding, it's the same thing yeah.

>Wrong, I just looked at my PA and it doesn't say anything about Holosun. Fags BTFO.

>>
>>34415628
Primary Arms has 1x prism scopes that are great for astigmatics.
Any vortex with 1-4 or 1-6x magnification will be fine, too.
You won't get a holographic or red dot sight, but you will get almost 1x (probably like 1.1x) magnification and a quality scope.
>>
>>34416763
I am a noob and /arg/ is filled with fuckbois that turn their nose up at you if you spend less then $1,500 on your rifle. I just want a bit of magnification that lets my rifle reach out a bit more then what I could do with the iron sights. A distance the average shooter can reasonably be expected to land a decent grouping.

I'd like to keep it between $300-500. Something with illumination would also be nice but I have astigmatism so not sure how that is going to effect the crosshairs.

Steiner M332 or M536. It's an excellent ACOG alternative that has an illuminated etched reticle that won't be affected by astigmatism. You will also get Gucci points because it's a Steiner. It has a lifetime warranty.

Primary Arms 2.5x, 3x, and 5x prism scopes are a cheaper alternative with a lesser warranty

What Optic works well with an AK47?
>>
Have an optics question for you mongs. What can I put a Mepro M21 on?

I have one on my Tavor and another on my Sig MPX. It's fine on the Tavor even though the bullseye is too big for any kind of accurate long range shooting because I'm an autist and like things to be proper. It works fine on the MPX but I have an Aimpoint T2 on a VEPR-12 and that's too much optic for that piece of slavshit, so I was going to buy one of those RMRs on sale for the VEPR because I like the design better for it and move the T2 to the Sig, which leaves me with an extra Mepro.

Don't want to put it on a .308 because of the size of the bullseye and all my other guns have optics already. What gun would be good to buy to put it on? 7.62 x 39 or 5.56 Galil ACE (already have a .308 one)? H&K 9mm pistol or wait on 10mm Scorpian to come out? Some other kind of 5.56 that I don't care much about accuracy with?

Also was going to put an ACOG on the .308 Galil but open to suggestions there.

For the variable zoom scopes. Is it possible to design a mechanism similar to car seats and driver preferences?

Like the first preset is for 2x and you can zero it in and set it. Then you can create a second preset for 4x zoom. Then when you flip between the presets the scopes remembers and automatically clicks for you?
>>
>>34418519
>>34418500
What's wrong with the Mk12?
>>
>>34418536
You use the same zero regardless of magnification. Set it to the highest magnification and dial it in.
>>
>>34418538
Nothing is wrong, it's the fact that you want a 1x- ~ scope for a mk12, where the mk12 shines at further ranges than what a 1x- ~ can do. At least a 3.5x- ~ would be appropriate.
>>
go back to your richfagging containment thread, you trust fund babies
>>
>>34417137
Some people just cant comprehend that maybe someone doesnt need good glass. Ive shot sub moa groups at 100 yards with a $30 walmart scope, it looks like garbage but it works.
>>
>>34418550
but muh cqb

I don't think a 1-X scope is a terrible idea - at least he will be ready for 3 gun.
>>
>>34418554
but this is a containment thread?
>>
>>34418568
a 1x- ~ scope is the ideal scope for 3-gun, but if he bought an mk12 I don't imagine 3-gun was the driving factor for purchase.
>>
>>34418513
Jesus I bet you're being serious.

They do, it's like $100 for a new insert that lasts 12 years. Anon is just being retarded/poor.

Anybody have experience with the Vortex 1-6x Strike Eagle? Any recommendations for other good priced magnified optics for SHTF, general use?
>>
>>34418633
It's acceptable for the money - same scope as the PA 1-6x, but with an inferior reticle. I would look into the the new 1-8x Strike Eagle II if you want something in a similar price range from Vortex.
>>
>>34418633

>>
>>34418633
I like my 1-6. I would like to get the 1-8 though. The 1-6 is my 3-gun optic and it definitely works well for that. Still haven't taken it past 300 yards though.
>>
>>34418538
Nothing, the Daniel Defense one is a little uninspiring however. Wrong muzzle device and it comes with the goofy DD Furniture

>>34418667
Thanks. Any words about Vortex as a brand? They seem like the king of budget optics, but (and I know it's a meme), are they SHTF dependable?
>>
>>34418826
>are they SHTF dependable
Depends on model. Tier 1 operators use the Razor 1-6, some have even been seen with the Viper PST 1-4x

They have one of the best warranties in the industry.
>>
>>34418826
Yes, they are dependable. An anon shot a SPARC II with birdshot a few years back and it worked fine. Most modern scopes are built like tanks anyway and Vortex will replace your shit for free regardless of how it got destroyed.
>>
>>34418826
Vortex is a pleasure to work with. If you ever have an issue, they'll bend over backwards to make it right.
>>
Strike eagle for 230 or viper for 300
>>
>>34418851
>>34418852
Thanks to you all again. You've been quite helpful. One more question, does the 1x8 Vortex scope that anon mentioned >>34418667
have a true 1x? Or is it more like 1.5x?
>>
>>34418931
Viper for sure. Better reticle and glass.
I would recommend a quickthrow lever or a nylon coaster as a substitute, as the adjustment dial is very stiff.
>>
>>34418947
They advertise as true 1x, so possibly. It's impossible to say without seeing it. Most scopes are around 1.1x - it's not that hard to adjust to.
>>
>>34418965
Thanks again my kind /k/ friends.
>>
4th of july deals seem pretty lackluster right now, thinking about jumping on that 300 viper but I'm not sure if I should wait and see what else comes out on the actual 4th...

Burris 2-7x scout

Vortex crossfire II

Anyone have experience with either ?
It will be used a scout scope on a forward rail
>>

I'd prefer batteries to tritium desu. It is a novel idea in iron sights, or anything from 20 years ago, but electronics technology is advanced enough to do away with it.
>>
Anyone have any experience with Leupold? In particular the HAMR and the D-Evo? Their pricy as fuck but my stepdad likes expensive bullshit and he's a Leupold fanboy that is going to use the scope setup for shooting gophers.
>>
I was looking for some advice regarding AR magnified optics. What are some recommended choices for each of these tiers?

Entry(ie minimum that could be considered decent):
Good(sufficient for any kind of normal civilian use):
Best:

I'm open to both fixed power and variable.

RUN RUN RUN. Koreans cut corners at every opportunity. I guarantee you that site is probably a Korean peckerslength improved over a cheap Chinese clone from Alibaba.

I'd like to put a scope on my ar carbine within the next few months. anyone have any experience with this? Or should i save a bit longer and get something else?
I like how it has the option of no zoom so that's kind of important to me.

A guy is offering to sell me an MRO on a Bobro mount for 450. Decent enough deal? I'm new to AR optics and I'm just mounting it on my go to carbine so I want something good.

Might be a deal at $400
>>
>>34420476

Yes, it's got a throw lever and an extra spacer if I want to run it 1/3 co witness.

I'd buy it.

A guy is selling a Aimpoint Comp M4 on Armslist for $550. Is that a good deal? Should I try to Jew him to bring down the price?

100 something for it. Was on ebay. It's actually pretty solid. I actually set it next to a newer, real ACOG today, and this thing actually has a nicer housing on it.

if youre looking for a grip too (i fucking hate A2 shit) i got mine from parker mountain machine, they just get regular ar 15 grips and drill them to fit the scar, i got no complaints, got the hogue one.

Holo isn't too bad. A million holos will break before an aim point, but since your poorfag ass is only going to abuse it as far as turning it on every so often and aiming it at your stepdads dog it'll be plenty.

Not only could you not afford an eotech if you're considering holo, but even free is too much for those pieces of shit
>>
I'm getting into hunting and have pretty much narrowed my scope options down to a Meopta MeoStar R1r 3-12x56 RD 4C as it seems to be decent value. What I am unsure about is whether to pick a first or second focal plane reticle.
The idea of second plane is more appealing to me but I heard the reticle can drift from the point of impact depending on magnification with second plane. If so, do you think that drift would be significant at shots up to a maximum of 200m (650 feet) with a scope at that pricepoint?

Anybody know when that new Russian holographic sight is going to hit the market? Jupiter Valdai or something?

Any word as to quality? Alot of the Russians newer stuff lately has been really awesome, especially for the money. Like the NPZ PSU 1-4x.

Just go either 2-10 or 2.5-10.

Most of the 2-7 stuff is gonna be duplex or bdc

Newfag question What's the point of 1x prism scopes? Except for astigmatism, why not get a normal red dot or a 1-x variable scope?
