I dont know which of these I reaaaaly want, the german one i noice from the looks of it, but the other two are titanium and metal detector friendly (go through one on a daily basis, and having to take knife out of pocket is always a hassle, nonferous knives can be worn on belt no probs though)

Non of them because they're all gay as fuck. Seriously. $200 for something that doesn't even have REAL handle scales is bullshit. The other two are going to be shit at being knives unless you specifically want something that allows you to fantasize about stabbing someone. In which case a poly knife is better and wildly cheaper. If you want to cut shit too you can get a Kyocera ceramic paring knife.

If you want anything remotely practical then deal with the metal detector

Just got this exact model in the mail.

Ontario Rat 1 in desert tan with D2 blade steel.

Its a little larger than im used to, but it fits my hand perfectly. Im in love.

Also D2 is a nice step up from AUS-8 and 8Cr13MoV, which up until this point is all ive ever had.

All I own is a CRKT M16 Tanto made out of AUS 6 and some cheap folder I found on the street with the word Coast and FX someshit written on the blade spine.

For my first fixed knives Im waiting till July to order 2 Survive Knives GSO models. One in 6 or 7 inches and the new 12 Inch one

I just bought a new knife today it's too soon to be thinking about more. I wasn't exactly planning on buying anything but it was on sale for what seemed like a pretty decent deal $56 at Cabela's.

Got myself a Khukuri finally.
Dude selling them has a really good reputation.
Straight 5/5 across the board in the critique section, with customers writing euphorically about his khukuris.
Forum and the little video material I could find also seemed good.

I got it and took it innawoods. Held up well, after some heavy chopping I could see small reflections on the cutting edge, nothing serious or unexpected.
Yesterday I chopped into some dried apple very lightly and the fucking edge bent. I was confused and did a little hardness test. Rubbed the back of my axe head against the convex grind and it fucking scratched up like a mofo. Seriously?
How hard is it, like 50° HRC? God damn it.

Thinking about this. Are Wharncliffes a meme? I'm not big into tantos or spear points so I thought this might be a nice departure from the drop and clip points I have already.

Benchmade 551 Griptilian Y/N?
If no, what should I get instead?
>>
>>34413110
10/10, with modifiers.
-1 if you're a former muhreen.
-1 bonus if you were under MARSOC.
-1 if you're over 6'4".
-1 bonus if you're over 6'4" and have a less than 4" dick.
-1 if your life has gome nowhere since leaving the corps.
So only 5/10 if you're the average guy who EDCs a KABAR.

That's printed on literally every bottle of soda sold everywhere. As long as it's also marketed in California, that will be on it somewhere.

Pic related, has anyone got any experience with esee?
>>
>>34413932
Wharncliffes are good cutters since the straight edge makes it less likely for material to slide off. They're also easy to sharpen since you just have to make a straight motion when sharpening instead of a curve to match the belly of a clip or drop point.

The downside is that they're not that good for tasks where the belly of an edge would come in handy, since they have no belly. Many wharncliffes also aren't designed for thrusts, though the Yojimbo is.
>>
>>34414562
I've got a slightly older D2 steel Griptilian and other than the fact that it can be kind of a hassle sharpening it I've got no other issues or complaints.

I have a the ZT 0055 and 0460 on my short list, but I think the next knife I am going to get is a Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter in Orange.

I think it's going to be a very good heavy use work knife. I find my self carrying my Code 4 nearly every day I'm working, followed by my ZT 0562cf and Orange/XHP PM2 when I need to sharpen the Code 4 and don't have time.

I want to add more knives to my heavy use rotation.
>>
>>34414562

The griptilian is overrated IMO. I'm personally fine with the plastic-y handles, but the combination of the low saber grind and comparatively thick stock limits its slicing capability. If your heart is set in a Grip I'd go for the sheepsfoot variant, and if not I'd look into the Benchmade 531, as well as the ESEE Avispa and Zancudo in D2, and at a higher price the Spyderco Manix 2.
>>
>>34417373
I have some Esee's. A couple Esee 3 and an Izula. Good solid knives that hold an edge for a surprisingly long time.

I plan to get an Esee 4 in the future.
