They'll probably get easier to insert over time. When I got my 74 my RU plums were fine but like 2/3rds of my bakelites wouldn't lock in properly. Now they all lock in, though some need a bit of extra force.

Just started the second season. I was wanting something kind of similar to Longmire and this is kinda close, plus the main guy (don't remember the actors name, Timothy Elephant or something close) was in Deadwood which was a good show too. I think the obzor goes with everything. Wood, plum, black, poly folder or triangle folder. The Rakurs, and most other slav optics that I've seen put on AKs here in the states, look great on a 100 series folder AK and zenit stuff. To me it's all about that hammered metal look vs black painted metal.

Because I was (and still am but less so now) very new to guns when I got it, and all I knew was it was a Norinco and those are supposed to be good. It was spray painted, and I didn't quite realize how fucked up that was at the store but handling it would turn my hands black later on. I spent 200 bucks getting it cerakoted so that brought my total price of the thing with 1 shitty 10 round magpul mag to like 1550. It came with that shitty SVD looking stock and oversized handguard set that retails for about 60 bucks so I didn't see it was slant cut at the store, much less would I have even known what that meant at the time. I thought it was a good deal while I was there and I didn't have a rifle yet so I committed pre-maturely.

It's basically just a fuck up that I'm treating as a continual learning experience I guess.

I just dump the box on the floor and load them onto clips and do that one box at a time until all of my clips are loaded, that way I don't have to deal with boxes when shooting I can just being a bunch of clips and load mags as I shoot. It saves space in ammo cans and at least with 5.45 it's way easier just bring a mag or two and a bunch of clips with a spoon

For those that care, so far I've found a ton of AKS-74s from '82 and '83 or later with 1/2 mold numbers, and a couple of '81s with 1/1s, plus two rifles Tantal on AKForum made with 1/1s.

I really want to but I just don't have any use for it. I'd want to put a full uniform on a mannequin or in a display case and have it in a spare bedroom or something, but it'd have to be sealed off because I don't trust my cats to not scratch and chew and ruin it. New range just opened up in my area and I went and checked it out today. I have been to a few different indoor ranges, but this place did something I have never seen before. They asked to inspect all my guns and ammo. With my guns they just checked to see if they were loaded. But they took a magnet to my ammo and said I couldn't use my 7.62x39 Golden Tiger ammo.

I was confused and asked "what, you don't allow steel case ammo?" But they told me that they don't allow steel core ammo. I showed them the box that said lead core ammo, but they still wouldn't let me use it. They wanted me to buy their ammo that was almost $1 per round.

Never had this problem at a range before. This place had all kinds of obscure rules I had never seen anywhere.

Anyone ever had this problem before?

GT and most other steel case uses projectiles that have a bi-metal jacket that's partially composed of steel. They can spark on the back stops indoor ranges use and ignite the unburnt powder that's down range. This can easily be negated by cleaning the range every night and having a good ventilation system but it's a too excuse to price gouge customers and ensure they go out of business.

When the closest outdoor range shut down for renovations over the winter I looked around for places to shoot and found one that's labeled as a shooting sports facility. Sounds neat right? Run by the state, professionally staffed and wouldn't you know it, only a 15 minute drive from my place. Score.

Except it's a shotgun facility only, no bays, no targets, no actual range, just a huge open field with clay launchers. Game loads and target loads only.

I got tired of the range I go to being closed on weekends for the car races during the summer (there's a race track in the middle of the 600yard range) so I looked around and there was one of those 15 minutes away down the highway. Check it out and it's literally an outhouse, some concrete pads to stand on and a couple small bunkers for the clay pigeon launchers.
