I used to hang out at my aunt's place out in the country. She was a dog person and had somewhere between 8 and 12 dogs on her farm at the time. One day I was just chilling inside when I heard her screaming followed by the sounds of snarling. Ran outside and see her adopted Rottweiler, Roxy, attacking her. Grabbed the 12 gauge and went outside to try and stop it. At this point the damn thing was on her face so I had no choice but to shoot it in the body, rather than the head. Got it off of her, but it was still partially alive. I put one more round into its head and called the ambulance. My aunt had to have multiple facial reconstruction surgeries. She looks okay today, but being a young teenager and seeing part of your aunts face hanging off is pretty fucked up.

I debate whether I should try to move it to the sidewalk and be a little late to work. Meanwhile cars keep driving past us, and then I start thinking about how it's probably not going to make it anyway and I'll just cause it even more suffering by trying to move it. I think it over for another minute and then just get back into my car and leave. Ruined my fucking day. I'm desensitized to roadkilled cats and dogs because I've seen it hundred times by now, including large dogs and even a kitten, but the fact that this one was still barely alive and looked right at me was soul crushing.

I honestly don't even remember. One that was relatively recent was responding to a cardiac arrest in which a lady had an esophageal varice burst while on the toilet taking a shit. She began drowning in her own blood and based on the fact that there was blood all over her hands, she must have attempted to shove her entire hand down her throat to stop the bleeding. The husband was the one that found her and his cries of absolute despair and loneliness filled the entire house. I was driving to work one morning and was passing through a small residential area. There was a small dog walking around in one of the yards on my right and I slowed down a bit as it started to wander closer to the side of the road. After I passed by I looked in the rear view mirror and saw that it wasn't paying attention and just walked right out into the street in front of the car behind me which hadn't seen it. The car's front tire smacked the dog's head and launched it into the curb where it just laid there violently spasming on it's back. The driver must have realized they hit something because they ended up swerving into oncoming traffic and narrowly avoiding another car. Just seeing how the dog moved after that was incredibly bizarre looking. I've also seen the aftermath of several cars hitting a dead dog in the middle of the road over the course of a a typical work day. There was about a 40 foot stretch of road completely covered in gore and by the time someone had come by to spray the road off the sun had already baked the blood into the pavement. That stretch of road was brown for about 2-3 weeks.

I saw a guy on a motorcycle get hit by a car that ran a red light at maybe 50 MPH. I wasn't too close to it but I'm pretty sure he died when he hit the ground.

I cut my eldest brother who essentially raised me down from a tree after he hung himself and watched him die.

I was chopping up a stump that was right next to my sister's house when i came down for family visit and the hatchet that i was using bounced off the stump and it strucked my left ankle.

I practically severed both my left tendons, made a large cut and if you take a grain of hair and lay it flat on the table that will show how close i was to literally at hitting the main artery.

I had to limp on my fucked ankle and yell out for any of my family relatives to come out since i didn't had a cellphone with me but my youngest nephew came out (he was like five) and i told him to go get grandma (mom was down here as well) and he went in and told her "uncle anon is hurt grandma..." which she came out and was shocked vut quickly got a clean towel and wrapped my ankle but knew that I needed to go to the hospital so she pulled up the truck and got me in it and we got there and so did my sister and her family side.

The doctor had to use six large needle shots on my ankle and while he was giving me shots i didn't scream or yell or cried because i just wanted this to be over with and he was surprised i wasn't crying or screaming in pain which i just replied to him saying "mom didn't raised me to be a pussy" which made my sister surprised and embarrassed and my nephews laughed and mom was just being mom. So anyway the doctor that was helping me turns out he was a professional plastic surgeon and he told me not to worry and he will fix my ankle.

So i was put to sleep and had my surgery done and he told me that my tendon when it was severed had shot past up my knee and he had to use a tool to reach up and pull down my tendons and he tied them back together and fixed my ankle and he made a nice looking cross scar on my ankle so it looks like a cross. So after going through months of wearing a cast, wearing medical boot afterwards and exercising my left ankle so i can use it again i was back in good shape again.

Mom doesn't want me near hatchets again.

I work for a funeral home so I've seen thousands of dead people, no big deal.
Occasionally you get a bad one though.

One time I had to go remove a lady from her home, she lived alone and was dead for at least 3 weeks before someone found her. She died in her living room and fell face first onto the carpet. The cops wouldn't even enter the building the smell was so bad. Tried to pick her up and her face peeled off and was stuck to the rug. She had basically melted/decomposed and become part of the carpet. We had to go to a hardware store and buy a razor knife and a snow shovel. Used the knife to cut around her, then shoveled her up as much as we could onto my gurney.

The trip back to the funeral home was excruciating. The stink permeated every part of my vehicle even with all the windows down and the AC running full blast. I couldn't get the smell out for a week.

My cat had kittens once. And all of them got adopted except one; the sickly, little runt. Without intervention she would've died. It was dark and she darted out right in front of me. Im really sorry. Are we okay?" Why would you ask if we're okay? Of course fucking not.I had a moment where I almost laid her the fuck out. But restrained myself and said "you need to get the fuck out before something bad happens to you. No we are not fucking cool you dumb whore. Fucking leave" or something similar. My roommate guided her out in a daze. It didn't matter that it was an accident and not her fault. Because of her existence an animal I loved dearly is gone. And no apologies can fix it. My mom had something like this happen to her wrist, she was on drugs, and I think she was trying to commit suicide. Her cut is about 6 inches long, diagonally, across her wrist. All the tendons had shot up into her shoulder; they were all mostly fixed, but 2 of them are fused together, so she can't separate the fingers. The whole area causes her a lot of pain these days, and its hard for her to work.
Her other hand is fucked too. When I was really young we were outside of Target I was in the shopping cart with my mom pushing me, and a truck hit the cart, and it went airborne. I fell to the ground, and my mom landed on top of me with the cart landing on both of us. The edge of the cart landed on her hand, and cut here 4 fingers off right at the first knuckle. For a long time she had full mobility in her fingers, but its getting worse as she gets older. I have one other story as well. (1/2)

When I was about 16 my mother got pregnant again. At first I didnt really want any siblings, but the idea grew on me; when she got her ultrasound I thought it was gonna be pretty cool to have a little brother. Anyway she had morning sickness well into her third trimester, so the doctors put her on medicine for it. It turns out you are not supposed to be on said medicine after your SECOND trimester. The baby was due in about a week, and she was going for her regular checkup. The doctor told her they were going to have to do an emergency c-section. She wasn't sure what to think at this point, she had a c-section when I was born, she had toxemia and I was extremely premature, She expected that the baby would still survive. We got to the hospital and they did some tests that revealed the baby's heart was not beating. They decided to induce labor, and the baby was born stillborn. He had apparently been dead a few days and began to decay, his skin was white and peeling away to reveal bloody muscle underneath, he was bleeding from his nose, mouth, and eyes. My mom was distraught, and held him for white a while. I think about him all the time, and to this day I've never seen a person mangled so horribly. My mom still has pictures of him hanging in her house, and I feel like sh it for thinking she should take them down.

Watched a middle aged man being told his wife just died. She was in the hospital and he came home to pick some things up and get some sleep. First time in my life I'd ever seen an adult cry. I was maybe 10 at the time. He just broke down screaming in pain. It looked like the reaction of someone having their heart torn out. I always thought adults were tough then. That they didn't cry. I knew this guy was tough, but holy shit. He was a dick but my god I felt so bad for him at the time. Posting tits in that memory. He would never shut up about" big ol titties".

Saw a friend of mine get hit by a 4x4, leg got caught up in the wheel somehow, it happened so fast. It was a country lane type road and we were walking on a grassy slight slope on the left side (UKfag here). Speed limit for that road was 30 but a coupe came by really fucking fast, spooked my friend and he slipped down onto the road, then the land rover hit him. As it was desperately trying to stop, he was just being thrashed around by the left rear wheel, kind of spinning like what you see in dumb cartoons. It almost severed his foot but it was hanging on by what I assume was tendon, he passed out from blood loss. I volunteered to give blood at the scene as the first responders came and aparrently didn't have plasma handy (but had IV equipment, dumb I know), ambulance crew that came along later told me I likely saved his life - feels good man.

Complete right ankle rebuild, he has 6 metal pins set up with a cage like structure around his tibia. Very odd to look at, you can see it quite clearly due to him being skelly mode. He was in a wheechair for 3 months then another month on crutches then about a years worth of physio twice a week.

Irl I think the worst I've seen was my pet cockatiel being mercilessly torn apart by a stray cat.

Online, A bunch of Muslim "scientists" in Afghanistan injecting some kind of acid or corrosive chemical into dogs... I didn't know animals could scream like that. I have a strong stomach but that one physically made me ill and almost made me book a flight to the middle east to massacre the savages.

My aunt jonie came down from Maine in her ratty ass RV for vacation, a long with her 12 dogs of varying breeds and age.The RV stank of piss and shit from the dogs and she was too old to realize how bad it was.

SO my dad had my mom take her out shopping and he took me to the RV.Animals always hated him and he hated them back so he dragged each dog out and beat the ones that fought back with a shovel to the head.He threw the dead ones in a cart and made me follow him with it out to the road.He then waited patiently as semi's came by and chucked the surviving ones into oncoming traffic.he had me dump the cart a long the road and when aunt jonie came back we told her the dogs broke out and got hit.

I still to this day have no idea why the truckers didn't stop after they saw what he was doing.

Almost everything I've seen in real life was awesome. I even saw a waterspout once in the Gulf of Mexico, looked like a cartoon. I may have seen a kid die once not sure I was young. We all had the bikes with the 20" wheels and there was a closed and locked yellow bar gate across a parking lot. You could ride the kids bikes under it barely if you leaned over and down real far. So as a test of manliness our little selves were all seeing who could ride under it the fastest without hitting it. We all did it. Then this one smiling blonde kid, little younger even, got going as fast as he possibly could, really cranking it, upright, BANG! It made a super loud noise when he hit himself square in the head. It just dropped him. He laid there motionless. This was before anyone had cell phones but some woman came out from a house, screamed, ran over, ran back to the house and back to him. Kid never moved that recall even when the ambulance showed up. I guess I've seen a lot of people get hurt; never been strong with empathy.

I've seen people stabbed, shot, tons of motorcycle accidents (family used to own a Ducati dealership), but honestly the worst thing for me was holding my little chicken when she died. She had a severe scissorbeak develop when she was about a week old. Most farmers will put a bird down immediately in that situation, but I decided to do my best to give her a comfortable life. My chickens are more pets than livestock, so I don't have a problem treating them far better than would be...economical, I suppose. She lasted six months, before a combination of a mite infestation and presumably kidney failure got to her. The last thing she did was just sorta plop down into my lap and fall asleep. I swear I could physically feel the life leave her little body.

Sometimes it's weird what actually really gets to you. Growing up more or less on a racetrack desensitizes you to a lot of gore, watching something you've literally raised from birth die in your arms fucks you up a bit, regardless of the circumstances.

I don't really wanna think about it, comes into mind as invasive thoughts sometimes still like 12+ years later.
We weren't friends after that, and I didn't tell anyone for like 9 years. Just my closest friend, and a college counselor, some online friends and anons.

It, among other things in my life gave me serious trust issues for like 7 or 8 years. Probably have some low level PTSD from it. A few years ago, I think I saw him in a supermarket line the first time since it happened. I had to try my hardest to walk away, I never knew I could feel so strongly the need to murder someone in public.

Around this time last year, a friend of mine died of a drive by shooting. He got hit two blocks away from where he met my best friend to sell him some acid. I was hanging out with him and we heard the news, the local news showed pictures of some intense detail. We went to the spot it took place at days later and still saw the blood stains. I've been taking antidepressants for a few years now, so I've been pretty depressed before, but suicide just fucking bothers me. It's usually the slow shit that bothers me, I.e. bleeding out, suffocating, etc. I guess it is just because I've been at rock bottom before, so I know what that person is feeling right before they're gone. I think the worst part is that someone really cared for that person, but they were too selfish and stupid to care.

When I was 15, my older sister killed herself with phenobarbital OD. She left individual notes for all her friends and family and stuff, but I was a total edgelord back then and it didn't really affect me that much. I read mine, and I was able to almost word for word predict what she said. Just 2 or 3 lines about "don't blame yourself" stuff, generic suicide stuff. My parents split up, and my dad and I moved out 3 states. Fast-forward about 4 or 5 months and I can't sleep, so I go into the kitchen to get some water, and I see my dad completely drunken and crying on the floor, and he just looks at me and tries to say something like "don't be anything like me, be better". I can't get that image out of my fucking head. My dad was a hard person, I'd never seen him like that. To this day, 7 years later, I still get fucked up thinking about it.
