Finland is actually pretty good. You just got to register that you got whatever firearm. After the first one, they fast-track you if you have no criminal record too. No limit on ammo purchases, no requirements that I know of

self defense is legal as well, though not CC or OC unless it's on your own land or in the wilderness where you could justifiably say you're protecting yourself from animals, which is fine.

I think we don't allow full autos. But I can't afford one so I haven't tried.

Obviously our gun laws come out as total garbage since we're US' neighbors but it's pretty decent in leafland.

Italy isn't that bad. People have no constitutional right to bear arms but there are various licenses one can get with what I think are reasonable requirements such as not being a convicted felon, a drug addict etc., having done military service or knowing how to handle guns (there are courses for those who haven't done military), and for hunting license knowing which types of animals can be hunted where and when.

Guns are very big in Northern Italy, it's a cultural thing stemming from how popular hunting and range shooting / quarry plinking are. There are some very nice national gun ranges which tend to be huge and have a lot of firearms for rent, and there also are a ton of private ranges (private as in not state-owned but allowing people to become club members and shoot there) for plinking, mobile targets and whatnot.

Last but not least many of the absurd limitations that plague many European countries (and California and some other states in America) do not apply. By that I mean we don't have to downgrade mags to 10 or 20-max and that an AR-15 is legally equal to any other rifle with a less "scary", "assault-ish" look among other things. Full auto is not allowed but from what I've seen it's more of a novelty thing as far as civilian needs go, although it'd be great fun for plinking beer drums or demolished cars in a quarry.

Wrong, the gun is legally yours forever, you just can't have it at home if you stop renewing your "sport shooting" licence. Only semi-auto rifles and handguns are treated this way, shotguns and bolt-action rifles can be kept at home no matter your permits, but everything is registered and declared to the government.
