The DBAL i2 is a great piece of cosplay for your rifle, but if you are actually using it with night vision... yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's pretty weak.

The main thing is that a laser system needs more than a laser to work well. It needs an illuminator. The A3 with built in laser illuminator works well (500 more than the i2), the MAWL with it's new cutting edge tech illuminator + design is even better, but it's twice as expensive.

>Q1: Can a Dbal i2 be used on any 2peice drop in handguard? Like a magpul (with rail added) or a drop in quad rail cheese grater? I remember reading that it should only be used on a free float as the wobble a 2 peice gives makes them less reliable.
Like any aiming device, it's only as good as its mounting solution. If the rail is wobbly then then you're going to have a hell of a time zeroing and getting it to hold zero after impacts. Something like a drop-in quad rail should be okay but a thread-on rail attached to a polymer handguard is suspect.

Even the cucked MAWL has a really great illuminator. If you want to buy a grey market full power PEQ15 you're paying basically the same price and honestly the PEQ15 illuminator is kind of an annoying design (spinning the illuminator head around to get it to focus or diverge sucks when you're trying to make changes fast).

ATPIAL sucks.

I prefer separates. I only user visible lasers for cowitnessing IR lasers. IR lasers and illuminators kight u up like a torch unless u are hunting animals in which case the eyeball glare is very helpful. My Pref for night shooting is an IR holo with a flip in magnifier and locked in NV with a cowithness IR laser for zeroing (I fire at IR glowsticks). Separates are better and flir hud is now cheap and awesome I you know anything. Rats tails are annoying and solid on off buttons best. All in one units piss me off. It realy comes together with a good subsonic load and silencer in a bolt gun. In day I would rather have a high power scope with see through for irons and a flip in thermal

Don't mind me. Just costing the same as ATPIAL while having adjustable 20mW IR slaved laser and 500mW focus-able IR illuminator. Make sure to say hi to the DHS agent for me, too.
