Maybe? I don't know. Modern war is a lot of shooty shooting by a lot of people with shooty shooters. I know people we were shooting at died, but I don't know if I killed them. Nobody knew who killed them.

Every 'firefight' we had was at distances greater than the recommended engagement range. Aiming at a single target wasn't even an option. The amount of dust and shit that was kicked up not only around us, but at the targets (or area) we where engaging made me laugh on the inside. The two guys manning the SAW was enough of a cluster fuck both on our end and the targets end to throw accurate fire out the window.

Given I did my tours in the ass end of the war so kicking down doors wasn't our thing I did get into a dozen firefights or engagements when they didn't fire back.

I never understood the phrase full retarded until I joined the military.

I had a close call once.

Many moons ago when I was a boy. I was staying with my uncle in Dallas. My uncle was showing me his guns, he had a few from WW2 that intrigued me.

Anyway he went to the bathroom for a moment and I was a bad kid so sneakily chambered a round into some sort of bolt action (I can't remember the type).

anyway he catches me messing and scares me from behind and I pull the trigger. The round went right past his head and out the window and I got the hiding of a lifetime.

I always will remember that day since Kennedy was shot roughly the same time that day.
