Aimpoint makes superior optics to EOTech if that's what you're asking, if there was a good quality holographic sight with the same battery life and general reliability as an aimpoint it could be good.
>>
>>34389275
fixed magnification scope i think
>>
>>34389293

Why is this site so autistic?

No I was asking which does /k/ prefer red dot or holographic

If I were to ask aimpoint or eotech I wold have said aimpoint or eotech? Learn to fucking read

I just want to know the pros and cons of red dot and holographics in general.

The Vortex razor amg uh-1 caught my eye
>>
>>34389406
Eotechs and Aimpoints have been around for forever

the Vortex AMG has just come out and people are already unhappy with the brightness settings

wait it out a little to see if the AMG holds up
>>
>>34389406
Read the last part of the post, holographic sights have shit battery life and tend to be less durable. An aimpoint PRO costs less than the vortex razor AMG and un many ways is a superior optic. The only advantage of a holographic sight is that the reticle tends to be a bit more crisp around the edges. If you ask me that's not worth sacrificing several years of battery life for.
>>
>>34389219
I like black dot but can't get any information on battery consumption or a pressure switch for iron sights either.
>>
>>34389406
Make up your own mind faggot. He told you red dots like aimpoint have better batteries, you useless cuckold.
>>
>>34389522
>advantage of a holographic sight

Parallax. Go away and learn. Black dot kang here.
>>
>>34389293
where can I get either for under $100

$200 max
>>
>>34389219
i have aimpoints on the majority of my AR's, comp m2, m4, H1, they're all bulletproof. i've used eotechs and never liked them, the battery life, and the fuckhuge reticle that sucks for anything besides bad breath distance. i tried vortex sparc II, doesnt seem bad for the price, but i haven't banged it around much yet.
>>
They are all garbage. Sorry I know that little glowing dots are kinda cool but the fact is batteries. An etched reticule is ALWAYS infinitely better. The human eye is drawn naturally to black anyhow.

SO WHY DO MIL USE THEM?
IR dots for use with NV you sperglords any other use is secondary.
>>
everyone agree's aimpoint/red dot better
honestly in combat i'd rather have iron sights
quicker to line up a shot from carry position
aimpoint makes for much more accurate target shooting though

Why would someone choose a holographic over a red dot?

Does the reticle shape serve any purpose? Is there some advantage of a Holo at all?

>>
>>34389934
>Is there some advantage of a Holo at all?

parallax you nigger and all battery powered shit without IR is for larping airshitters and inferior to anything with a fine eteched reticule.
>>

Fucking airshit vidaya kid restorts to fudd as an answer.
>>

Holographic. My eyesight is dogshit and I appreciate the larger reticle
>>

lmao

my range has one rule
>Paper targets only
and nobody follows it, in the hundreds of times I've been there I've shot everything from clays to air freshener to TVs and I've never seen anyone get kicked out

maybe you should look for a different place to shoot buddy

>>

>>
>>34390260
Oh great. The vatniks has arrived with their subpar vodka tubes.
>>
I prefer the holographic ones, the dots are super clear and tend to have a wide FOV. Expensive as hell though.
>>
I abolutey assure you that 90% o the brand name droppers on this thread think they know how to shoot with Iron sights or scopes but don't and don't have any NV to justify an IR dot or have an IR dot option on their look it looks like COD battery powered crap.
>>
>>34390451
Could you try that again in English?
>>
>>34389406

Collimating
>>
>>34390484
I got an unbranded $20 chink shit red dot that seems to work pretty good.
The dot is kinda big, but for shotguns and pistols its close enough.
>>
>>34389578
Neither. Really.

A decent example of either is going be at least 400.

Budget red dots dip below 200 but these are Chinese optics that will likely need an upgraded mount, which takes back to 200 or more. These are also budget optics that, while getting ok reviews, most reviewers wouldn't trust without backup sights.
>>
>>34390646
nice obzor

how do you like it, really? is it worth the weight?
>>
I'm happy with my Bushnell TRS 25.

I point the red dot at what I want to hit, it hits it.

I dunno why a hobbyist would spend $700 on an Aimpoint. You guys should set that money aside for retirement or a mortgage or something.

inb4
>it was a smart purchase
>what are you, poor?
>a cheaper optic would have failed me at the worst possible time
>disposable income etc
>>
>>34390676
These usually eventially self destruct under recoil. Ymmv.
>>
>>34390779
Yeah, i figured it would.
I bought it planning to build my own after salvaging the lense when it finally dies.
I took it apart to see what was inside and its not bad for what it is.
The whole thing is machined aluminum with no plastic parts, so any failure will likely only be electrical.

I realize it might have just been because the Army only buys the cheapest shit they can find, but, after having to rip my red dot off my M4 because the inside was fogging up so badly I couldn't see, I've never really trusted anything but iron sights.

I'll use optics. They're fun at times, but I only really like them on ranges in clean conditions.
>>
>>34390753
Pretty sure that's a photo off russianoptics.net...
>>

>>
>>34390484

Im buying my first AR on friday and was thinking of buying that sight.

How do you like it?
have you had it long?
>>
I tried a red dot by Vortex and it made the target look farther away.
Is this always the case with futuretech optics?
>>
>>34389714
Literally none of this is true. The military uses IR lasers for NV applications.
>>
>>34391325

i've had it for a while though i haven't gone shooting that much. i've compared it to my friends eotech and prefer the holosun much more, the eotech reticle is really rough and fuzzy looking while the holosun is small and sharp. the best feature by far is the motion-activation tho
>>
>>34390314
To be fair, their lasers are better since they're much more powerful than what's available to us lowly civilians in the us. Reach out further in NV AND you can blind an attacker
>>
>>34389219
1. They're effectively the same thing
2. Green dot is objectively better than red dot and always has been
>>
>>34390480
Implying both don't suffer from some degree of parallax. I swear to fucking God /k/ as a whole needs to not fall for marketing gimmicks and get a high school education in physics.
>>
>>34389578
Holosun HS510C is the cheapest you're gonna get
>>
>>34390938
It has nothing to do with buying cheap shit and everything to do with you or another Joe not taking care of their issued shit and the army refusing to throw anything away. My company armory had a case of broken Eotech 512s that were 5 years old that never got thrown out.
>>

>>
>>34391362
Its tunnel vision. Were you shooting with both eyes open?
>>
>>34391564
Get checked for an astigmatism, my dude. Throw a buis on with the red dot. Look through the rear peep. Does the dot suddenly look MUCH crisper?
>>
>>34389948
>infinite battery life
>poorfag-friendly
>literally tens of hundreds of options
>co-witness for tactifags
>weight saver
>sturdy and not so damn sensitive

Im not seeing any downsides to just using irons. Good shit anon.
>>
>>34392305
No it isn't tunnel vision. It was the glass.
>>
>>34390162
probably no slavshit because they brass jew and dont like steel getting in their brass. my local range does this but after enough convincing and promising to police my steel they allow me to. I love the pissed off look on the fudds faces. Eat me, pre-diabetic elitist kiddy diddlers

>>
>>34389219
holo is best in my opinion. allows wider range of view, quicker acquisition through NODs, etc. red dot is nice and has it's own advantages though.
>>
>>34391769
The parallax for a holographically projected site is the width of the viewing angle to the projected "distance" of the reticle (100m in EOTech's case). Collimation is way worse.
>>
>>34392447
given that the gameboy was made in 1989 I'd say it's built a bit better than 99% of the Chinese shit sitting in Walmart shelves today.
>>
>>34392447
made in japan
>>
>>34392232
I'm aware the equipment is old. I've seen it. I'm also aware that people don't take care of it as well as they should because I've seen that, too. The point is still there. The rifle worked, the optic didn't. It's vulnerable to elements which often times can't be controlled, and which won't show a single symptom of there being any fault until the worst possible moment. The element which can be controlled can be removed.
>>
>>34392425
No, I know what range those rules belong to and it's because the owners are literal inbred retarded hicks who think all commie made guns shoot 50 MOA and they don't want people shooting up their baffles.

namely for Aimpoint PRO or Trijicon MRO, both in the $400-500 range, both are solid good red dots, both are more than possible to come down to high $300 to low $400. For $100~ more than the $200 red dots, you now have something that'll last a lifetime.
