Some of their gear looks too brand spanking new. Some dirt, mud, scratches and nudges would do wonders
>>
>>34390304
Budget. With big Hollywood budget you make big feature film with acces to armory with actual blank firing guns and equipment, with bunch of movie specialitst making them fitting for the setting.

Or you make few short films in South Africa with airsoft toys.
>>
>>34390331
Still, unless they're rented wouldn't it hurt to give them some abuse? Airshit anyways, throw them in a thorny bush and smear some dirt and it'll look much better

It may actually look awful, airshit are mostly not real steel/alumin and bluing.
>>
>>34390379
Nowadays most of the movie guns are airsoft + CGI.
>>
>>34390567
Only for really cheap TV shows.
Most movies still use actual firearms that are converted to fire blanks.

This reminds me of a documentary I saw a while ago about people who went out and did Vietnam war reenactments in the forests of Oregon.
The participants were about as fat and neckbearded as you'd expect, except they had an actual South Vietnamese veteran who talked about how he had to survive off rice and leaves as he killed his countrymen, and how reliving this was the only way he could stay sane. It was really metal shit

I'm a prop master, most of the rented ones are already pretty aged and beat up from years of abuse.

They just started this studio so they probably bought a lot of stuff new. Not sure why they didn't pay a painter to age it down.
>>34390612
John Wick did do a lot of CGI gunfire because of how close the action is (blanks are not safe within 20 ft), but the guns were not airsoft, they were Taran Tactical custom ones, there are no airsoft versions. They may have some rubbers made, but since everything is in close-up they just use real ones.

Also most gun fights were filmed in Italy and Italy requires all movie firearms to be solid-plugged for blanks.

People who hail Neill Blomkamp and Christopher Nolan movies as the greatest shit ever have double digit IQs.
>>
>>34393274
Step one is to be in Hollywood or one of the few major filming cities (Atlanta is big right now, New York is OK for TV, some stuff in Louisiana)

Then you have to try to find people who are in the industry and try to get a job, or answer Craigslist posts. Most people start as a general Production Assistant, and then try to become a PA to a certain department, in this case, property.

So it's all really about getting into the door any way you can, then getting into your department, then making new connections, and then eventually getting into the Union.

Becoming a Property Master can be difficult, there aren't a lot of us in the grand scheme of things (A few thousand handle like every Hollywood union created movie) but you can be very successful as an Assistant Property Master (different union classification) and work on a lot of great stuff.

Most movies will only have 1 Property Master, but can have 2-4 Assistant Masters and then 4-12 Property Assistants.

Was kind of disappointed by the movie. I had higher expectations. Hollywood should make a remake with a decent budget.
>>
>>34393947
So what do you guys do?
Just source requested firearms, teach all the actors and extras how to handle guns safely, and give firearms advice to directors?

Depends on the show and director. Some movies will need a dedicated armorer who holds all the state and federal licenses for full auto guns and SBRs and Destructive Devices. Hollywood "blank guns" are all considered real firearms - the "blanking" system is basically just a screw in choke to manage recoil. (If you tried to fire a real round you'd probably blow up the barrel if you forget choke was in there)

If a director knows his guns, or wants approval, then you "show and tell" him a bunch of guns that would be appropriate for the character/time period. Most movie people are idiots and don't know the difference between a BAR and a Garand.

But once that's established, yeah, we go and rent the proper firearms, there are about 5 major rental places to go for guns. There are more but between the 5 biggest you can get just about anything you need.

If an actor needs actual training on the gun, he might get it from the armorer, prop guys, or a specialized instructor (Keanu and the JW directors were trained by Taran Butler).

A lot of movies don't actually provide money for training, so we basically just explain safe handling and basic commands to get them through the scene. If they're shooting we have a bunch of safety checks to go through, then we hand them the usually fully loaded gun, point out the safety and tell them to switch it off right before rolling. After the scene we immediately take the gun back 99% of the time.

Directors and script supervisors will ask us questions about caliber, capacity, etc, especially for CGI added gunfire, so the actor can fake the shooting accurately, for recoil, and to make sure he's not pretending his gun is full auto or something dumb

It works better that just having a Russian Dr. Manhattan. It makes more sense why he's just sort of wandering around causing havoc and not making a concerted push on US bases and systematically wiping them out. Obviously the Russian's stepped in to help stabilize and focus his powers, but they probably don't have much control over him.

Also I like his the CIA guy says that he is an error. Like this never should have happened but it did. And that plays directly into Hines "ability". The idea is that the universe recognizes that there is a mistake, and has done something to try and fix it/balance it out.

Is it deep an original? Not really. But it comes off as fun in that pulpy/campy sort of way. It has 90s action hero movie written all over it.
>>
>>34393239
I can't even imagine how such a stupid idea made it to even a conceptual stage. Like seriously, armed heuies already existed by the time that thing was designed, so they should have known a lot better.
>>
>>34391998
That's because it's Neil Blumpkincamperstein. You know, who made one good short film, turned it into an okay feature length film, then has made shit since and has now been ran off.

Also, did anyone else notice the floating Apache and the shitty script where they can't even remember if the guy is a corporal or sergaent?
