if you can't hold back the "reeeeee that could happen in real life" faggotry to enjoy a show how do you watch anything? Are you one of those people that in Saving Private Ryan complains about Tom Hank's character shooting 25 rounds on screen from his M1A1, all for the purpose of trying to be ultra mega superior to people trying to enjoy something.

it's people like you that can't have fun if everything isn't 100 percent perfect and ruin fun.

>>
>>34388594
I would stick with the dub as I don't believe the sub has anything more in it than the dub does. I would say try it if you want to challenge your morals a bit, the start is certainly slow, but my interest was always how compelling it was to challenge the lines you draw in morality. That and seeing how these incredibly strained relationships develop between characters. I also have to admit I liked the operating and the music too. So I would say give it another episode or two but hey, not everything is for everyone.

>>34388685
There's no question Rico is my favourite. It started with enjoying her operating with a Dragunov. I like how cold she is when asked to be but just flops to cheery like nothing. A little creepy at times but endearing. She's just the best.

There's one thing that's always bothered me about Girls und Panzer. So their tanks have special armor that prevents the shells from actually going through their hulls? So why are all the commanders turned out? A tiger shell carries over 3,047,400 joules of energy. You're telling me no moe commander's body hasn't been liquefied by a stray shot?

Like the T95 crew, they all died and there's no way around that. Or the Panther crews that got hurled around by Gustav.

It's an over-the-top sports show about the importance of friendship, tenacity, and sportsmanship, bullshit happens and you just have to roll with it.

I only did the second post so credit to the other anon for the longer one.
Have you seen Girls und Panzer and High School Fleet? If you can tolerate the moeshit they're both good fun, GuP is the superior of the two (Haifuri is basically GuP on a boat with a little bit more of a plot and less consistent tone).
Upotte and Kancolle are both objectively bad shows but if you can stand something like Strike Witches they're worth a shot.
Arpeggio of Blue Steel/Aoki Hagane no Arpeggi is pretty good if you want another show dealing with naval stuff.
Valkyria Chronicles has an anime, no idea if it's any good.
Finally Everything in picrelated is worth watching (they form a sort of sub-genre in my opinion, if you liked one you'll like the rest). Mostly not /k/-related though.

I'll be honest, I haven't played the games through since I didn't have a PS3 at the time, but the overall mood and storytelling was pretty damn good imo in the anime. >I'll never get why they make such accurate models of the tanks just to make them do loopy shit like this.

Because like it or not, they are out to make a good animated feature. Good cinematography is always dynamic. It's why people cream themselves over Macross Missile Massacres even in this very thread.
The creators love their tanks and machinery to hell and back, but they know that tankery is not a subject you can actually make a good cinematic experience out of. Documentaries, sure. But not good animated features.
Hence why they allow them to do anything as long as it makes the scenes better.

It's not even the same argument as "No accurate war games/movies were ever made because it would be sitting in trenches fondling your balls for days on end", it's simply what separates the idiot DA animator from a professional director. They must uphold cinematographic principles even if they're making something about a topic that isn't suited for them. It's either that or making a shit movie and these guys were going all in and put every last cent (or whatever is the Yen equivalent) they had into it to make it as good as humanly possible.
>>
>>34394727
Composition and cinematography has nothing to do with the quality of the CG models.

The story is not all that great and the soundtrack is nothing to write home about compared to the rest of the (music-centric) franchise.

It is good, but it's strength is in the animation and you've got a ton of great OVAs with orgasmic animation.

No. I mean, I watch plenty of anime, but "/k/ anime" is nearly all trash. So you have people discussing absolute garbage years after it aired, which the rest of the world forgot as soon as it stopped airing, just because there are guns onscreen for a few moments. Its sad. Remember Canaan? Of course you dont, it was total shit, but /k/ remembers since it had a few P90s and a Sig550. You've got decent shows like Black Lagoon and Cowboy Bebop or Full Metal Panic, but they are good for reasons that go beyond anything to do with /k/. As in, if all the shootouts in CB were replaced with food fights, it would still be excellent just on the strength of the script and direction. The same cannot be said for the "pure" /k/ shows like Jormungand (just watch Strikeback, seriously) or Upotte or that boat girl show. Ironically, the only pure /k/ show which /k/ recommends that actually works as anything more than boring masturbation material or a weak pastiche of western works, is Sabegebu, a show about airshit of all things, since it recognizes its a dumb anime and plays with that.

The second season was better from a plot perspective. It was more streamlined and flowed better. Its just a shame that artland did the production and ROYALLY fucked it up. Changing the voice cast, visual style, and dropping the budget like it was a 10 ton brick were the killing blows to it.

>The second season was better from a plot perspective. It was more streamlined and flowed better.
The second season slavishly followed the manga while the first changed things up a bit more (luckily the arc S2 followed was great anyway). That's why you get strange inconsistencies between the two.

"Schwarzesmarken," the German word for "Black Marks." Set in the 1980s in an alternate timeline version of East Germany, Schwarzesmarken follows the East German Army's 666th TSF Squadron, also known as the "Black Marks." This special unit specializes in unconventional tactics using advanced technology. Their enemy? Beings of extraterrestrial origin, or the BETA, a fearsome and sometimes unpredictable enemy that seem dead set on destroying the human forces and taking the planet Earth for themselves and ripping it clean of its natural resources. Because the BETA come in all shapes and sizes, carrying any number of advanced alien technologies, the Black Marks must use the latest and most deadly weapons humanity can devise to drive them back.

Irisdina Bernhard is the commanding officer of the Black Marks. As a war hero, she has earned the respect of her country. However, her cold exterior and personality make her extremely hard to work under, especially for one of the most talented members of the squadron, Theodor Eberbach. Only time will tell if the many battles fought together will bring peace to the earth, and between the many combating personalities in the 666th TSF Squadron.

I liked the second season for a few reasons, one as you mentioned was the character design, it was fine in the first season but it had trouble showing really what a character was thinking, the emotions shine through in a way I could better understand them. Secondly, the guns were generally done better too, their operation and design was easier for me to keep up with, and I'm a weapons lover at heart so that meant something. Additionally, it presented more emotional highs and lows for me, the fucking Angelica scene where they do the flashbacks still makes me cry like a bitch at times, and the revelation of Triela's backstory pissed me off in a way TV of any form never has. The fact that the show actually got an emotional response out of me in that second season really made me appreciate the work. Also, the song that they play during the final fight scene, the more or less theme of the second season, it still gives me a chills, one of my favourite musical arrangements actually, it really feels epic and desperate at the same time. And a more specific moment that really got me was Jose talking with Bianchi, the life attitude that he gives him to cope really rings true, I really liked it. Also, overall I felt in the second season that the characters were pushed a little more emotionally all around, the first season raised some really intriguing moral questions, but I felt on the whole that it was a little flat emotionally which probably reads better in a manga than it translated to TV entertainment to me. So some of this is pretty much just how the seasons ended up being split to fit with the way the manga was written but they're reasons all the same.

Those are my long winded personal reasons. Of course I love the entirety of the series, I just like the second season a bit more than the first, on the whole it's an amazing show. And that's a great scene.

Not as much as I used to, once you knock back the actual good ones like Kino, Bebop, Now and Then Here and There, etc. You quickly begin to realize how absolutely fucking stale that whole industry is, pretty much 90% of it is just a copy of a copy of a copy with only slightly different element thrown in, if even that.

Manga is far superior since all creative control falls to a single person, meaning you can get truly unique and interesting stories that don't have to appeal to a focus group.

That's because being an anime about the wars was never the intention.
For what it's worth, it achieves being as historically accurate as Battlefield 1 does, even more so at times.

Also, it's a LN adaptation, so both you and the manga guy can suck it.

>some outsider invades homeland

>proceeds to FUCK SHIT UP on outsiders' turf
>thinly veiled MUH COUNTRY STRONK message throughout the endeavor.
>>
>>34400356
no the difference here is that in american movies, the protagonist almost always gets fucked up before rising back up to defeat the bad guys, and even then, there's some kind of damage.
>Lone Sniper
Kyle gets PTSD, can't relate to family, ends up dead
>Apocalypse Now, which was referenced rather tastelessly in GATE
The Americans are portrayed as crazy war mongerers
>that one about the Navy SEALS operation redwings
They all die, except one.
And so on.
In GATE, the protags are untouchable.

There are good dubs but none are as good as the original language. If I'm watching an anime it's gotta be japanese. If it's french it's gotta be french. I'd rather hear an original version than something that's far more likely to be a cheap production or take a lot of liberties with the content.

It's also not worth wading through the huge amount of absolute garbage dubs to find the few that are good.

You can argue the point all you want but the fact remains there really are only 3 age groups for shows when its all broken down. Its children, not for children, and porn. Thats really about it. Sure the target demographic might slightly favor teens or elderly but in the end its one of those three primarily.
>>
>>34406830
That's retarded.
In fiction, there's three groups.
Children's stories, Young Adult (AKA teens), and everything else.

If your talking about print books there is a very big difference in that from visual media. A book without illustrations cannot be considered pornography. Visual media has legal requirements and a forced age check which books generally do not have. A twelve year old can go and pick up Lolita from the library without anyone batting an eye.
>>
>>34406895
>A book without illustrations cannot be considered pornography.
Erotic literature is literally a thing, and has been a thing for as long as there's been written language.
>>
>>34406902

But no age restriction for any of it which seperates it from a visual media. You can sell explicit descriptions of sex to children and its not inherently illegal. Flash them a playboy and your in jail.

Not that any of this really matters in the long run anyway. There are some great books and shows aimed at teens and such so saying that something is not as good as something else because LOL TEENS is just being close minded.

Damn shame the manga was never fully released in English.
But yeah, it seems some folks around here believe that if it has a gun in it, it's automatically /ak/. Now, there isn't any set rules on that definition, but I like to believe that a show/manga has to have elements of both /a/ and /k/ in it, and not just anime girls with guns.

It has to breath the ideas of /a/ and it's memes with /k/ and it's memes. It's why Kino, Sora no Woto, and others are always brought up. Not because of the surface "girls x guns" but the more deeper meanings to them like survival, fighting against all odds, gun porn, and loads of testosterone (both male and female).

>>34407077
But C3-bu is awful. The manga is actually better, but not by much.

Literally the new "i'm too hipster and cool to appreciate something that got popular among casuals". I think you just hate because of the overexposure to the memes. If you seriously hate it for other reasons, well, fuck off to /a/ to masturbate to underage girls riding tanks.
