It really isn't. A semi-automatic Glock 17 is a much better choice for "home defense", which you're also never going to need to do, by the way. Also, it doesn't run out of ammo in zero seconds flat, and you can actually control it. The Glock 18 is about as controllable as a rabid bull when you're firing it in full auto.
