I've researched them for awhile a few years back and got a vibe that the versions intratec made are inaccurate, shotty, jam frequently, and occasionally if you dryfire will make a ping sound before the firing pin launches hallway across the room

With that being said, I've heard that the interarms version is actually pretty good, but harder to find

what i find extremly weird about my tec-9 is that if i shoot it like a regular pistol it wil jam 100% of the time, but when i bumpfire it it never jams and runs amazing, and i tend to giggle a 'lil bit after i empty the whole mag when i bumpfire it
p.s i found out how to make my closed bolt tec into an open blot full auto one (just gotta dremel out the slot that trips the trigger and weld the firing pin and the bolt together so that it turs into an open bolt, havent tried it it but just thought about it while finger fucking it)

You're way off, bro.

Kellgren sold the company back in the 1980's to his business partner Carlos Garcia. At the time it was still Interdynamics USA (the guns that go for a real premium are these). Garcia rebranded to Intratec and moved away from advertising to Law Enforcement and self-defense (as Kellgren targeted the gun towards) towards more naked womens and gangster shit. In the early days of the company, the gun was advertised as an expensive and compact self-defense alternative to shotguns.

Kellgren started Grendel, then Kel-Tec CNC, and then it just became Kel-Tec after the AWB.

Garcia saw some additional products developed after Kellgren left, but quality went down the drain after George sold his stake in the company.

California passed an AWB before anyone else, and the only difference between the Tec9 and DC9 is the name, along with a minor change later to replace the welded sling loop on the receiver with a piece that fits behind the buffer. DC = Designation California

Nah. The receivers have been known to crack and the charging handle might just shear off. It's a shame, too. They're not even cheap anymore.

As it stands, buying a Tec-9 is essentially paying $500 for a 20yo Hi-point with none of the durability and none of the warranty service.

The earlier KG99 and KG9 pistols are a fair bit nicer in build quality and all, but ultimately they still have brittle ejectors and shitty magazines.
Get one because they're cool and interesting, don't get one because you expect to have a great gun.

That's only true of the KG9, which saw *very* few sales, the idea that the TEC9 family was frequently converted into automatic weapons by criminals is a vastly overblown urban legend.
