I've had two concussions before and I'm scared that they might not allow me to join the military because of it. A buddy in the marines told me he had 16 broken bones but didn't tell anyone and got away it, I asked him if they check your medical history and he said no. Can anybody back that up? It seems strange that they wouldn't check your medical record. It doesn't seem right to lie cause I don't want to get caught and then blacklisted or something

Shits got me nervous man.

if the military sent hipaa requests to every hospital for every 18 year old trying to go 0311 they'd have a backlog the likes of which would destroy the armed services. what actually happens is if you go to boot and have an asthma attack, they'll send a hipaa request to whatever hospital you provided them with, then see if you had a history of asthma.

So I got my orders today. I am an ET in the USN and I was told I'd be joining an MTOC out of Whidbey Island. Does any one know the associated NECs for this kind of duty? Also anymore information past it being a job where I get flown out to bumfuck nowhere to set up tents with radios in them would also be appreciated. There isn't a lot of info about them online.

You can't just copy and paste some random citation from PubMed as your "source".
I'd love to see the report, but the publication you linked is from 1995 and does not feature the full publication text, so if you could repost it with the full text, that would be great.

Also, a cursory look at at a more recent article from 2009 reveals that the Navy has a significantly higher rate of HIV infections than any other branch.
https://pilotonline.com/news/military/navy-hiv-infections-already-high-continue-to-rise/article_c04b4172-737e-5350-9793-00cf7d2408d7.html

From your source:
>the overall HIV incidence in the United States Air Force (USAF) is reported annually and comparable to that of the United States (US) military
>While HIV incidence among active duty USAF is stable, our analyses delineate specific subgroups for targeted prevention efforts.

Additionally, if you compare the rate of HIV positive USAF active-duty (from your source), and compare it to the total number of Department of Navy active duty, you will find that the Navy has a higher HIV-Positive rate at 1 in every 954 people, whereas the USAF has an incidence rate of 1 in every 1051 people.

So, what is the view on anxiety disorders, specifically generalized anxiety disorder for the military? Hypothetically saying that someone who may have been diagnosed by psychologists with said disorder. What kind of research does the military do into you, do they just expect you to tell them since it is a federal offense to lie (at least where i am from).
>>
Posted in the last thread, never got a response so posting again.

So I'm looking to join the Marines but I can't find much info on 0313 training. I've heard that they do ITB with the 0311s at the split and then do LAV training after ITB. I have two close friends who were in the marines but one was an 1833 so he went to MCT, and the other went to ITB before they even had LAVs. Thanks in advance, and my ID may change as I'm on mobile.
>>
>>34381357
If you have anxiety disorder, then the military isn't for you
>>
>>34380667

If being a Ranger is your primary goal, definitely enlist with Option 40. The opportunity to attend RASP is not guaranteed as an officer.
>>
>>34381369
0313 does MCT with the pogs, because LAV is pog. It's the 0300 series meme, not every 03xx is the grunts.

You'll do MCT, your school, then get a unit.
>>
>>34381655
Thanks, that's what I heard a couple years ago and I wanted a second opinion. Another thing is that I was going to go to school to be an English teacher and I was leaning more towards enlisting because of the different possible MOS I could get that I might end up wanting to further eduction of after, as opposed to using ROTC to become a teacher but proceed to have a different job in a military career.
>>
>>34381725

To be clear, passing up the opportunity to commission because you want to be "eleet ragnar" is generally a stupid idea, but it's your life.

Officers get compensated a lot better and treated like adults from day 1.

>>
>>34381767
The dream to be a ranger is always there but I was mainly leaning towards enlistment like I said because the job I'd have in the military would be way different than going to school for teaching and I was worried I'd want to end up pursuing that instead of education. I've been opening up the the idea of ROTC again though so I'll keep what you're saying in mind in the next couple months, one more question on that note is it hard for an officer to go to jump school and air assault school as well? Getting that red beret had always been the dream alongside heading to RASP so it's a big consideration for me
>>
>>34381841

How hard it is to get Airborne/Air Assault is 90 % dependent on your branch/assignment. It's fairly common for officers training at a post with those schools to walk-on and get a slot, but that requires getting that particular branch in the first place. Same with enlisted, but it's more about MOS than branch.
>>
>>34381866
Air Assault is conducted at a lot of bases, Airborne is only done at Benning or Fort Richardson
>>
>>34381866
Appreciate the info I'll do some more research on the ROTC route then and keep it in mind, I'm sure I'll still enjoy the college experience at 21 after all and that officer life must be great

considering they lost my SF-86 twice (once they just let it fall out of the system queue) so i had to redo it, then they forgot to fingerprint me (and I had to drive all the way to meps by myself to get there when they opened - on a school day - during finals) im not at all surprised,

I ended up just joining a different service lol.

Now im afraid of the incompetence of the support people, I literally had to learn how to do all of the pay stuff, and dont even get me started on the tendencies of medical staff to "loose" medical records

>tfw it happened to a buddy of mine
>tfw his record had it documented that he had cancer from military service

I called the army every day for about a month before they told me to stop calling (they told me they would let me know) but they failed to mention that they would not because i was no longer in their system. needless to say i did not join the army.

I went to pick up my medical record when transfering, and it was literally on the desk of some e-4 who set it down, then covered it with papers and coffee cups, after panicking for 20 minutes and having the e-5 tell me he could not find it in the record shelf, until i saw the guy and was like "he took it" that they checked his office and it was right there, they all just shriugged it off like it happens all the time, advice for all interested persons

Other good programs are the WOFT (army) which coasties can go to, also nice way of getting instant e-5/warrant from civie job

The army also takes coastie e-5 as boat drivers and promotes to warrant for army boats

the coast guard takes army and makes them pilots

The coast guard shares with everybody, There were even some army airborne rated coasties

I have been to both several army and several navy schools ( i want to get airborne ) the host branch always looks at you funny because we are all just seacops.

Could someone here explain what college is like in the military (probably AF)? I know you get tuition assistance and you can take online classes, but what's it like taking classes on-base or in nearby colleges? How difficult is it to do that with a your job in the military, under the instance you're not getting deployed constantly?

Also, what classes are offered on base if any? Is it all basic courses, or do they offer advanced classes in engineering, math, etc? I ask because I would probably want to get a degree in either or maybe CS

you get 5k a year in loose it or use it money. You get unlimited CLEPs/ Dantes (test out of class and get credit through CCAF) the first one is free, after that its not. You get 1 free certification series in your career, so pick wisely. (IE, wanna get single engine cert as a pilot? They will pay)

As long as you job out and get your...fuck i forgot the name of the homework you have to do...but whatever...get your 5 level quickly, and they dont care what you do. They like you getting education.

Classes are both online, and in person, the schools and teachers literally expect NOTHING from you. This is both good and bad, if you are smart, you coast, if you somehow have trouble, people pay attention.

The easiest credits ever gained were at classes in deployed locations. The military and colleges work it out, you are going to school instead of jacking off, causing trouble, or trying to figure out how to violate general order #1, so they are gonna hook you up with education. This applies ONLY if you are a POG. You a grunt? Ya dun goof'd son.

I am telling you now, you go in, be prepared for a mutually abusive relationship. The military will TAKE everything they can from you. You must TAKE, fucking TAKE, everything you can get. Even if it doesnt make sense. Pencils? Are they free? yours. Random ass business ceritifcation? Done. Hazardous waste shipping class? Fucking DONE. Sharepoint class? Take it.

Why? It gives you versatility in the military, and out of it. Chances are if you have a skill, they are gonna want you to use it, and guess who is busy working on the squadrons website while every other jack ass is busy doing base clean up, marching, mandatory fun, or some other dumb shit? You. Because you took initiative to be a hard charging, highly motivated, Perfectionist with no social life. Follow that and meet with success.

Protip: the people you work with ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. Dont shit where you eat. Do shit by the black and white and you are fine.

Reschedule your court date for a day earlier, or a day later, in the early morning. Contest it. Chances are the cop never shows, if the ticketing cop never shows, and they dont roll out a TV with video evidence, guess who walks.

"To my best recollection I stopped" if questioned "I drive frequently, I cannot recall specific intersection in detail"

dont be a smart ass, dont say anything extra. What happens if you are found guilty? You pay the ticket the exact same as you would otherwise. You never lied. You had a lapse of memory.

Therefore meps/military knows where my entire history is stored, and the records are held 50 years. I obviously was rather partial in my prescreen and after the fact learned details. I have depression+trial bottle of welbutrin from 12~ years ago within those records.

Nothing in boot camp actually matters. In the fleet no one gives two shits whether you were the honor grad or the shitbag of the platoon.

As far as running goes, you pretty much run everywhere in boots. But it's not an organized run or a PT run, it's more of a "oh you don't want to drill? Sprint that way! Now get back!".

As long as you can pass a PFT you're good. Expect to actually get weaker and slower at boot camp since the workouts are retarded and are just designed to piss you off rather than make you a better athlete.

Usually comes back fairly quickly. Everyone lost their voice the first week and were usually fine by the third week. You'll probably get sick and lose it again though.

No, and if that is a concern then kindly find another branch to serve in.

Think about it like this.

In your life, have you ever had an in-joke among a couple of your friends, and someone who wasn't within this circle attempted to fit in by using it out of context because they aren't in on the in-joke and you thought they were a fucking weirdo?

That's you right now. That's exactly what you just did.

Or if you're under 25: You know how you use a meme a lot within a specific conversation space, it starts to lose it's punch, but then some new fag shows up and starts throwing the meme around trying to fit in and you think they're a complete shit cunt faggot?
>>

>When do they drug test you, before during or after the ASVAB.

I took a piss test at MEPS, but I also took the ASVAB in high school so I didn't have to do it when I enlisted. Also you'll likely do multiple piss tests while you're in any time you come back from leave, any time someone gets caught with drugs, or pretty much whenever the fuck your chain of command feels like it. Which can range between only when necessary to 100% urinalysis every other week.

27 year old senior software engineer here. No degree, worked for fortune 10 companies doing mission critical shit. What kind of jobs can I do? Is 35n the best out there for me? Is there a platform for programmers in the military? I love shooting, I carry a USP Compact 40 and I also take my Polish undefolder to the range every week. I'm not the worlds greatest but I can hit paper plate sized targets reliably with irons 100 yards and in.

I'm 6'2" 185, can probably do 20 pullups if I had to, mile is about 7:30-8:00, probably 50 pushups, 100 situps. I squat about 285.

I wanted to be a naval aviator as a kid but but wrote myself off.

What options are there for me to serve my country and how can I do the most?

NSA/DIA/DISA/Contractor.

Your kind of skills are much better served in a non-uniformed position. There are enlisted programmer slots, but they are kinda hard to come by and you would be leagues ahead of the stuff you do there.

If you go work for an intel agency, and have skill, you'll be doing some cool stuff.

Very true dude. When i first started this shit I would sell this shit the best i could so i could save my career from being sunk by the career recruiters above me. Then after about three months I learned how to become untouchable as a detailed recruiter and now I give 0 fucks if someone joins or not.

I can tell you my story of my small slice of this dog and pony show but thats about it.

Do your research before you ever talk to a recruiter. Here is a pretty good place to start desu but is hardly the best source of information.

>guys who are still in are jaded
Yes and no some dudes can seperate the trees from the forest as a whole and some can't. Service isnt for everyone and everyones story of service of different. Out of everything in my time in being on recruiting has been the worst of it by far. But I know its not all shitty.

Only the Air Force has an actual programming job field. Of the non-Air Force military programmers I know, most of them just flaunt the PT test. They won't get promoted, but they sure as hell won't get kicked out.

A lot of it is going to suck and I'm 100% ready to address that, so I'm very interested to try. This is definitely not a one-size fits all type of service.
>>
>>34390170
Is the retainer thing just for basic, or the entire term? I don't want to need braces again once I get out.
>>
>>34390170
>Yes perm retainers are looked at the same a braces

I'm curious about this as well, as my Gunny told me that it shouldn't be a problem since it's seated low enough for the mouth guard not to interfere. I mean if worst comes to worst I can just get a detachable one and then get the permanent one reinstalled after.
>>
>>34390246
The best thing I can say if you decide to join is take it one enlistment at a time. basic training is the best example. 95% of the bullshit is planned to the minute. Once you get to your unit is when things get fucky. If you have a good nco above you, shit wont be as bad. But if you get put under a dick head who got his stripes because he was good at pt its gonna be a bad time. And for the love of god take the shortest contract possible.

Should I go for it? It seems to good to be true. I was worried I wouldn't even score high enough for 12b but I got a 78 and all the right narks for 18x/18c. What would happen if I fail out of 18x?

>do you get to select your airframe (would prefer Blackhawk or Little bird)
>how shit is it living on an army base

What he is talking about is TA, which is an annual allocation of bonus funds that are for enlisted and possibly officers to get free school, this is not the same as the GI bill. The only requirements are that you get good grades (C+) i think or else you need to pay back the govt, usually it is 4k-5k of use it or loose it money. the total starts over ach fiscal year, and you can use any amount up to the alloted number, granted certain criteria for classes

Several of the branches started apprenticeship programs, you basically log hours and have your boss sign that you did the appropriate time for "fix an electronic system/ weld a piece of metal/ repair a vehicle" stuff like that. Once you have 6000 hours from 500 task completions hours or whatever the division is for your chosen program, you get issued a certificate as a civilian electritian, HVAC specialist, or welder or one of a handful of apprentices.

sometimes ships and deployed units have go along instructors who teach 101 classes, but you can also take care of these through CLEP/DANTES (i personally recommend CLEP as it seems to be the most widely accepted, but its essentially the same test)

Your need to go through army basic

because you need to be an e5 to get commissioned for OCS you get automatic bump to E5

many of these guys try to lateral to the coast guard after tour complete in the army

You get an air frame based on choice and class ranking as per a buddy who just went through. Aptitude plays a role in this, also having experience in a field is usefull.

army base life is meh, but officers get treated slightly better, especially the aviators , they get some of the best treatment in the army

My goal is to attempt to make it a seamless transition.

idk about tricare. Everything I've read says no, it does not cover lasik. Apparently there is a way it can be done, but its an extremely lengthy and arduous process and involves going to Lackland AFB for an appointment to see if you're eligible, then going back to lackland for the surgery.

Meanwhile, I live across the street from a prestigious Lasik center and I'm getting the 2nd half of my 20k enlistment bonus this week.

>>

>Question: to what extent does the quality of food differ between the branches?

Food is based off of the dining facility moreso than the branch. The best food tends to be from dining facilities that serve higher ranks, such as those found at hospitals and near major HQs.

>Do officers receive better food than enlisted?

Only the Navy still has "officer" dining facilities, and those are only on ships. Everywhere else it's the same for everyone.

Is it true that recruiters will lie to you about everything?

I visited my marine recruiter and asked a few questions and this was what he said

When I asked if it's true its near impossible to rank above Lance Corporal in a 4 year contract

>if you meet all the requirements, you can be E-5 before your 4 years is up. You'll hit Lance Corporal around a year and half to 2 years of joining

When asked about the living conditions compared to other branches

>living conditions between all branches are more or less the same. The air force doesn't have any better living conditions than the marines and vice versa

>he told me you can hunt and fish on base
>he told me the average work schedule is 7-4 and that includes most job fields, though you could work 24 hours if you're on watch
>you don't need to get permission to leave the base after your work day is over

Loosing paper-work is part of their AIT/OCS training within the Medical Corps, an essential facet for which they must qualify.

Those medics go onto work in the VA as civilians, where they truly learn to professionalize the loosing of paperwork in comparison to their uniformed service.

In all honesty, my experience with the Army Medical Corps has me believing that they are little better blue-falcons than MPs.

This. The Air Force still has the best DFACs, but the hospital DFACs are better than most of the other Army DFACs I've eaten at.

The Army DFACs in TRADOC are okay, but you'll never really know in basic because you won't have a chance to do anything but cram your face and run back out to formation. At AIT the DFAC wasn't bad, but it was staffed by contractors. I've only ever seen an Army DFAC try to give out literally rotting food, and it was a regular active duty DFAC staffed by Army cooks.

Other than AF/Hospital, the best food I had while in was in Iraq. The Al Asad Air Base DFAC was great.

What I will ask is
what do you want?
where are you at in your college degree?

Understand that ROTC means you will be expected to become a commisioned officer at the end of it. Additionally ROTC is VERY competitive so what sets you apart from an 18 year old who wants to do this?

If you want the college experience do it and if you get accepted to an ROTC program if there is one at the school you choose thengood shit but understand being an officer in the military is not something to be taken lightly.

If you want the military experience then enlist amd start chippong at away at your degree while you are in and decide of going officer is something you could see yourself doing. You are the only one who can make this decision for yourself and its a big one.

If you research and understand what goes along with being an officer and its something you want to do then ROTC is the route to go.

If you just want to do military shit and and try college later then enlistment is the way to go.

>Is it true that recruiters will lie to you about everything?
They'd tell you Led Zeppelin would play your graduation if it meant you'd do 4 years with them.

>When I asked if it's true its near impossible to rank above Lance Corporal in a 4 year contract

>>if you meet all the requirements, you can be E-5 before your 4 years is up. You'll hit Lance Corporal around a year and half to 2 years of joining

Depends entirely upon MOS. 03s almost never make it past terminal Lance.

>When asked about the living conditions compared to other branches
>>living conditions between all branches are more or less the same. The air force doesn't have any better living conditions than the marines and vice versa

AF has better facilities (barracks, DFACs) because they are the newest branch. Every Marine under E-4 is assigned a room mate while Airmen get to fly solo.

>>he told me the average work schedule is 7-4 and that includes most job fields, though you could work 24 hours if you're on watch

This is called Duty and it sucks. You're a security guard for 24 hours. Everyone does it, everyone hates it, it's basically a fact of life. POG MOSes are basically a 9-5 (or 7-4 in this case)

He's telling you half-truths. I don’t know if recruiters still work off commissions but they definitely get incentives to push more people through.
>>
>>34383084
Drinking is hands down the largest past time among the enlisted.

My first drink of hard liquor was at 7 A.M. the day after I arrived at my duty station. Company mate banging on my door until I came, hugged and welcomed me in a drunken, quasi homo-erotic way (prepared me for things to come), and then made take a sizable swig from the handle of vodka he shoved at me as I answered the door, still partially asleep.

Only got worse from there, nearly positive this is more or less a common experience across the branches.
>>
>>34380123

He is right about the pussy. Blue Bravos are panty droppers.
>>
>>34390908
>>34390955

These are all typical recruiter promises. None of them are lies, but none of them are as straightforward as the recruiter will make it seem.

>Promotion timelines.

That's technically possible if you fast-track, but it isn't going to happen for you.

>Living conditions

Technically true, living conditions are post-dependent, not dependent on the uniform you're in. If you're a Marine on an Air Force base then you'll get those accommodations. Except as a Marine you'll mostly be on Marine bases, and those suck...

>Hunting and fishing on base

True, for decent-sized bases with those facilities.

>Average work schedule

This is entirely job dependent. There's no real "average" work schedule. Lots of jobs are 9-5 office jobs, lots of jobs do nothing all day but have to stand around 12 hours a day aggressively doing nothing, some jobs even do shiftwork.

>Don't need permission to leave base.

True, after you're out of training your free time is pretty much your own. Exceptions if you're stationed in a foreign country.

>Quality over quantity

Bullshit. Recruiters want to hit their numbers. They need people that meet standards but they're not turning away fully qualified applicants so they can get a lesser number of "super qualified" applicants. He's trying to make you feel like a pretty girl.

>Cares about recruits

See above. He cares because it's his job to, but you're not friends.

>Switching job fields

Again, possible. Again, probably not going to happen for you.

>Marines get pussy

Dumb recruiter bait for horny teens. The uniform might help a little but if you pull tail as a civvy you'll pull tail as a Marine, if you don't then you probably still won't unless you change something (get fit, get more confident, etc).
>>
>>34390816
A much higher percentage of officers will make it to retirement, compared to that enlisted class of the same year.

Note, however, that being an officer lends itself to certain personality traits, so you need to consider that before you make your choice.

Thanks for the replies, so it's been the dream to earn the red beret and RASP is the goal if I get in shape enough by the time I talk to a recruiter. I never considered ROTC as much because I have no post-high school education as is and after hearing its harder for officers to get to RASP I leaned more towards enlistment, so I could learn a trade in military and go to school after if I want.

At the same time though, I understand how becoming an officer could be the better and smarter option if I give it the same dedication I would going to RASP, albeit with a longer career from the jump but I don't mind because I'd need the same leadership capability if I became a Ranger.

I've been homeless for the past 2 years managing to stay in decent enough shape so the free schooling isn't a concern as I could go for basically free now, and the possible enlistment bonuses were another sweetener towards signing up instead of ROTC.

I appreciate the advice even if like you said it's how I feel and my choice in the end, it's just nice to take a look at both options before jumping straight towards enlistment

What is your degree in?

Unless its in Intel, legal, medical or you are a minister (join navy then go coast guard)
direct commission is not a likely route,

The BM rate is alright, since you get a well rounded experience, and can get good leadership skills out of it,

for OCS you need to be at least E5 i think, which is not too bad, since you go in as an e3 with a degree, and make e4 once you go to rating school, and if you study hard it is feasible to make e5 in a year

Officers get moved around quite a bit, so just because of your specialty you would still go to different jobs that might not be anything that you learned in school.

https://www.uscg.mil/top/careers.asp

https://www.gocoastguard.com/active-duty-careers/officer-opportunities/programs

pic related are bonuses being offered this year, i think they are still giving out a 2k just for joining

I have looked at going OCS, and i would say better off going enlisted first unless you are young enough fr the academy or have a direct commission skill

Ok, i'm tired of conflicting answers to my question, so somebody who has real knowledge please answer. People here say to lie about druge use, but I read on several forums that people who get securtiy clearances and too secret security clearances get polygraphed and they DO get asked about their drug use. Is this true? If so, lying would be retarded. The person in question may or may not have smoked marijuana once.

From my understanding the majority of military folk who get poly'd usually only get a counter-intel poly as opposed to a lifestyle (the one that asks about drug use), that is if they get them at all.

The DOD is too lazy to poly every single person and dig into their past, if they did, they'd have no one left in service. I'd wager about 90% of the Marines I served with did something and lied about it.

So heres the break down for being an officer in regiment

>you then go to rasp 2 and are selected based off how good on a leader and soldier you are

Its far more competitive than ROTC. If this is your long term goal then go for it but be aware its a long way to the top.

Enlistment in the other hand gets you out of being homeless and gets you some job training and would be the longer work around to getting your degree.

I was 19 and living in my car when I decided to join. Once I told my parents i moved back in with them for the few months before I left.

im nrotc anon and cross town usually sucks. it usually works like you can pt on your campus with the other cadets but often you have to commute to the other campus to take the ROTC classes. so if the cross town affiliate is an hour from your uni then you have to drive there and back for the lab and the class.

Machines will never replace the big three compound exercises anon. You will need to do heavy squats and deadlifts to improve upon rucking. Have you tried actually rucking with a decent load yet?

Learn to deal with being uncomfortable and you'll do well with rucking.

I'll start doing those once I max out the machines.

There was a time when I toted 50-80lbs regularly over long distances, but my hiking and camping loadout is usually more around 30-40lbs so I'll need to up that this summer.
>>
>>34396899

I strongly recommend that you focus on squatting and deadlfting than just maxing out on machines. They will only take you so far and you won't truly build yourself a strong strength base by solely using them. Cardio is also paramount as well, do not neglect your cardio.

You also need to consider your rucking pace as a 17 minute mile pace is considered a "decent" pace.

well spoken. Also, do not forget that each branch of the US military has its own accredited community college. Best part? Any school that takes the GI bill is FORCED to take those credits, and your, in the case of the airforce "CCAF" degree takes any credit from just about anywhere.

The military WANTS you to get smart, be successful, and return to the civilian world shit hot and ready to help revitalize our economy.

that's not really useful for direct commission, since those are actually fairly common (at least wherever i have been) BUUUUT:

A criminal justice degree is useful in the event you want to do law enforcement, since you would have a better understanding of how law enforcement is to be conducted

Maritime enforcement specialists specifically fill the role of law enforcement (much like security forces in the air force or MP in the army)

But any petty officer or above can get the "boarding officer" designator, most commonly those are MK and BM rates, who fill both federal agent roles and boat driver/mechanic roles depending on what is going on on any given day.

BM go to training on how to operate small boats, but on cutters, they can qualify to become deck watch officers on large vessels, which paves the way for an enlisted command position (e7 "captain" of a vessel) or OCS.

If you are a BO, you can also use that to try to get onto a tactical law enforcement team and do some operating jumping out of helos or high speed boat chasing.

Alternatively, if you want to go JAG, you might be eligible for some of the legal field paths to a commission

Does anyone know if prior service(6.5 year Navy E-4) can go through the Army WOFT program?

That would be a question for a recruiter, how old are you, and you might need a waiver

>Meet basic enlistment eligibility requirements IAW AR 601-210
>Be at least 18 years old at the time of RA Enlistment and not passed 33rd birthday at the time of selection. Age waivers will be considered on a case by case basis.
>No age adjustment for Prior Service Applicants for the WOFT Program
>SIFT Score of 40 or Higher
>GT Score of 110 or Higher. (No Exceptions)
>High school diploma. If the applicant has a GED he/she must complete 15 semester hours of college level courses
>High School seniors may apply
>Must be a U.S. Citizen. (No Exceptions)/
>All applicants must meet HT/WT standards IAW AR 600-9

>Any applicant that does not meet these standards must havee a DA 5500 (male) or DA5501 (female) indicating that the applicant is within Body Fat standards.

>Pass a Class 1 Flight Physical that is approved by The US Army Aero-Medical Center (USAAMC), Fort Rucker, AL. All Flight Physicals are forwarded to the USAAMC for review and approval. (It is recommended that the Recruiter conduct a timely follow-up to ensure that the physical has been forwarded from issuing facility to Fort Rucker). Any questions concerning physicals at Fort Rucker should be addressed to Mr. Garcia at .

4chan thought it was spam

There is also a reserve program, theyu might not be so choosey

you would still need to go to boot camp, and then take the WOFT if you get selected, and there is an OBLISERV requirement

So, probably still a question for a recruiter, but, I got ADSEP'd for being fat, but in the past year and a half since I got out, I lost 100lbs, and am down to 163(I am 5'9"). Will they even consider a waiver for a former fat fuck?

How can I help my older-than-dinosaur fat-as-fatass non-runner brother pass his Army IST?
>>

From my understanding that might be n issue of the "moral character" aspect of the requirements. if you packet clears, then you go before a board and need to explain why you think they should accept you. I have onlyheard of 1 person getting dropped at the board, and it was because he was dual Canadian and American and they asked him "if America and Canada went to war, who would you fight for" and he said Canada

>>
>>34397139

my intuition tells me that it's entirely up to the recruiting staff

if you're about average in every single aspect besides fitness and continually fail to improve from test to test they may entry level separate you for "lack of motivation" or something

although that's just conjecture and I don't actually know for sure since I'm still sitting on a waiver

>I have onlyheard of 1 person getting dropped at the board, and it was because he was dual Canadian and American and they asked him "if America and Canada went to war, who would you fight for" and he said Canada
I think he was dropped for mental retardation, rather than moral character.

Thanks for the help anon!

Is there a age limit for enlisted? I'm about to turn 27 in August. I know officer is 31.

Planning to join the AF, I've got some light scars on both my biceps from being an edge lord, it's completely "off-the-record" and I've never been hospitalized for depression or anything, am I good to pass through?

If a doc asks about it during MEPS, have a good lie ready and you'll be fine.

Dude, its the AIr Force. They are all spazzy edge lords who think someone gives a shit. You will be in good company. Bonus points for acting like a sassy woman whose "mad at Stacy for not inviting me to the party" (this is a real comment that came out of a real airfag's mouth).

Can they in any way be misconstrued as being accidental? If not, it may be more difficult to get away with.

>>34399458
I could formulate something about my brother doing it when I was young, both arms doesn't seem like an accident

Age should not be an issue as far as I know, In fact a few people I went to boot camp with were in their upper 20's

>You must be between the ages of 17-27, (prior service up to age 29 and up to age 32 if attending an 'A' school) for Active Duty. (If you are 17, you'll need parental consent.)
Reservists must be between ages 17-39. Prior service personnel should contact their local recruiter for specific programs.

you should be alright, as long as you don't turn 28 before you join, also you can get an age waiver if you do (it just might be a little harder). The age limit goes up if you get a guaranteed job like MK/ET/FS/DC/OS at present.

Best of luck to you, if you make it, expect to have a little bit of a hard time, since you would be older, you will get automatic responsibility and make sure you are physically fit.

Coast guard boot camp more recently is the most mentally difficult boot camp. You are required to memorize all kinds of service information. The workouts are not really all that bad, if you are very fit before hand, you might even find it too easy.

AMA if you have any questions about rates or guaranteed "A" (i also know tricks to make rank faster)

Are the Marines or the Army the better branch for HUMINT
>>
>Its an "Air Force chick complains about her thousand medical issues and the waiver she has for this and that and this and that for a 16 hour shift while you desperately hope you are mortared out of existence" episode

Joint ops need to be a crime. I have never encountered a human being whose very voice makes me want to die.

Keep in mind, it's all just bants. Without ANY branch we wouldn't be as effective as a military. Take any of those types of comments on the chin and move on.
