Sperg out about it all you want, but modern modular firearms that can accept a wide variety of optics, accessories, and even core components like barrels are a system of standards more than a single design.
Back in the day when a gun was just a gun, and the only thing you were going to be doing to it was a little action tuning or getting a scope permanently installed or something, you might have had a point.
Now though? The AR is a fucking weapon system or a platform.

the AR is a terribly boring weapons platform that I will likely never purchase

You are of course, entitled to your opinion. Spend your money on whatever you want.
>>34379642
I bet you call all handguns pistols

-A- gun is not a weapons platform.
A gun -design- is a weapons platform.
YOUR ar15 is a rifle.
THE ar15 is a platform.
I thought a weapon platform was a fancy name for a tank chassis.
That's how the Germans used to do it, anyhow.
>>34379902
Germans used to do a lot of things, look where it got them.
>>34379653
Christ, that is a ridiculous amount of kit.
>>34379653
So can this guy shrug off a rifle round in the chest?

If you call a gun a "platform" you really are a fucking faggot.

So I work with some former SF guys.
Their take on this sort of nonsense is "industry speak" or "acquisition fags".
< insert .pptx here >
Know how they tell me its done in the real world?
"Keep shooting them until they stop shooting back."
Even better, "Get someone else to shoot them.
Like a tank, or an Apache."
Have fun with your semantics.
>>34379693
imagine being so gay that you pick less practical weapons just because they aren't "boring"
>>34382459
imagine being so delusional that you think your weapons will ever be used for anything except fun
>>34383008
yes, this is exactly why my next tv will be crt from 1980 and not some sort of 4k flat screen
lets face it, you are just right wing hipster
I call my .22 a weapons system. Never really heard things called a platform much.

A guy asked me if my red dot was "some cheap chinese knock off" I told him no and that it was an Aimpoint. Then he starts in with the "you put a $400 red dot on a .22!!!" The look on peoples faces when you look right at them and say "poorfags gonna poor"

>>34379653
I can't get over how miserable they look.
>>34383436
T1/T2 style red dots or similar are probably the best optic to put on a 10/22.
micro dots are great too, a friend has a burris fastfire on his and its so much more fun to shoot
>>34379693
That's because you value looking at guns more than shooting them anon.

Is this a joke?
ARs and Glocks are boring as fuck to shoot. It's about as fun as walking my dog or nailing a board together, I'd rather be shooting something interesting.
>>34379642
Well, most rifles have pic rail space to mount lots of weapon systems like lights, lasers, rangefinders, bayonets, grenade launchers, bi pods and slings.

I'm willing to bet he can't feel his foreskin.
