What's the best movie gun, and why is it the Pulse Rifle from Alien?
>>34377782
Because, like all the gear in Aliens, it looks real. Cameron showed us a military which was clearly more advanced than the then current military, but didn't go overboard with flashy pew pew guns with neon stripes.
As a result the Colonial Marines and their gear still hold up today.
I quite like some of the stuff they had in Avatar, though funnily enough, it was the same guy in charge. So it comes back down to what >>34377845 said.
I'm going to be so pissed if Avatar 2 comes out and it just focuses on alien landscape porn and not the cool human tech.

Isn't the entire premise of the first film about how bad humanity and technology is?

Personally the 2019 LAPD Blaster from Blade Runner will always be my favourite, I'm so glad they're bringing it back in the new Blade Runner instead of just giving everyone a chiappa rhino as is so common in sci-fi movies these days

True, but like any vilified power, we looked damn cool doing it.

>BSG
I really liked their launcher equipped 5-7s
>>34378534
Maybe, but in all honesty the mechs and shit were the best part of the film, and they clearly put a lot of work into designing them (not to mention the spacecraft which gets five seconds of screentime). Plus, I have no idea how they'd sustain four-or-whatever films just on Pandora alone.

Mandatory ChemRail
>>34377782
Also mandatory airburst AK
>>34379025
looks almost like it has a hera CQB stock on it.

I LOVED the Five-seveNs from BSG. Too bad it's hard as fuck to find a replica or airsoft Five-seveN, so you can't make a prop replica.
>>34379037
for all of its flaws it was still a pretty cool movie
>>34379228
It was a horrible dystopic future that we or our children will have to deal with unless we can solve our 3rd world problems now
>>34379228
The concept design quality made up for them. Seen it more than once and never cared about the actual story.
Ghost in the Shell's CZN M-22.
A crazy AR-18/P90 lovechild.
>>34379025
Sad that they just put some random caliber on the side of it. 8.75 X 52? That'd be like .34 inches wide and 2 inches long, not exactly a hot-sounding projectile.
>>34378540
is... is that a bolt???
>>34379332
With enough voltage you can propel a brick and make it a hot projectile ...
>>34379332
8.75x52 is the projectile. The case is the size of a fucking Browning .50
The projectile is plenty hot.
>>34379323
The groza is similar
>>34379332
>>34379344
What actually bugs me is that there seems to be no sufficient barrel-lenght for a hybrid explosive/magneticaly propelled projectile. Maybe if the battery switched places with the magazine for a bullpup setup it'd make more sense imho.
>>34379336
Yes, the 2019 LAPD blaster was basically just a Steyr Mannlicher in .222 receiver attached to a Charter Arms Bulldog
>>34378540
Damn, it is an iconic movie gun, no denying that, but I can't overlook how dumb and hastily put together it looks as a prop...
>>34379382
Handheld Gauss weaponry is going to be vastly different from anything we are used to. Example - design styles and implimentations of magazines will be probably be P90 or G11 styled, the entire day of the weapon will be built around the power source, the coils and ergonomics. It might end up looking like some stupid edgy anime gun.
It will also be heavy as fuck.
Upside, I've preposed making and utilizing a 100 round magazine the size of a standard STANAG mags with projectiles that cost less than .02$ a shot and inflict as much if not more kenetic energy as a 5.56x45mm given that the velocities are similar. Downside to this is you're practically carrying around 2-12 blocks of steel plus the weapon and any other equipment.
>Engage enemy with standard 1200 rounds of 5x20mm Gauss Rifle brukka per soldier, 3000+ for LSW variant using 250 round 60rnd STANAG conversions or 500+ round sidemounted box mag.
