Does any of you own P-90 or have used it?

I got curious after seeing it to be "chosen" in Star Gate series as the main weapon.

Even in fiction series, there must have been reasons for it, so id like to hear opinions about it and comments.

Is it actually a good weapon?

Colombian Army had them in the mid 90s. I shot one on an indoor range near Cartagena.

Crap trigger, but very ergonomic aside from that. I liked shooting it, though it wasn't for long and more of a passing thing. They were very excited about receiving it, along with numerous other FN weapons, and apparently put it to good use shortly after.

PDW's fill a niche so small you'd rather have an SBR to fill the role instead.

Don't get me wrong the P90 is cool, and FN Herstal makes great (albeit overpriced) guns, but for what it's designed for there are other guns that would better fit it's role.

Personally I'd take a Honey badger or SR-635 over it.

Rather have a kriss vector

I use it in my offhand when I'm using my grenade launcher

Never shot one buy tbqh I can't imagine a defensive scenario where I'd rather have that gun with all those puny bullets when I can have a 5.56 SBR blow 30 fist size holes in the intruder instead. Maybe /k/ can enlighten me.

I wish I could own a P90, but alas I own a PS90.
Its a niche product, I don't see the civilian PS90 as a primary weapon for home defense but if you get the SBR version its pretty enticing 50 rds in such a compact size and ambidextrous controls makes it easy for various positional situation.

It's incredibly compact, has a 50 round magazine, negligible recoil, tiny light ammo that will kill only what you're shooting at and won't over-penetrate walls.

It's niche as fuck but they're so cool.

It's a great gun, OP. But bear in mind:
Positives:
>50 rounds on tap, you will never have to reload in semi auto
>minimal recoil (note: there's enough recoil to jump your sights around - not unmanageable but annoying)
>flat shooting high velocity round great for varmints, though not great for larger game
>dat space aesthetic
>retardedly compact when SBR'd, literally no rifle can compare
>still super compact with the silly long barrel
Negatives:
>NOT a replacement for an intermediate carbine
>ammo is expensive at worst and uncommon at best, though can be had for around 30CPR in recent years
>the AP ammo is available but prohibitively expensive and rare
>it's deceptively heavy, weighing nearly 7lbs loaded. The weight is wonderfully distributed but pounds are pounds
>the rifle itself is expensive, averaging about 1200 per unit
>the trigger is god awful without aftermarket upgrades
>not much aftermarket - there's enough to do what you want but options are limited and expensive

I love mine but ya gotta understand what you're getting.

This thread reeks of nogunz

Oh also
>COMPLETELY ambidextrous, which is great
>downward ejection is great for policing brass and not annoying those beside you
>a gutted STANAG fits in the ejection poop chute and can act as a brass catcher - NEAT!
>>

Red dot me on that SBR of yours, anon.
Did you just do it for style or have you gotten use out of the shorter barrel? I'd like a PS90 as a fun gun, but is there even much point to SBRing it if it's supposedly not even that great a home defense weapon over say an SBR'd AR?

It's for fun and aesthetics. No more, no less.

Thanks a lot for nice info!

Not going to get one, but just very interested about it compared to others.

The SBR was just for looks. It is still very compact and balances extremely well with the long barrel.
