Just got this non-refurb '51 SKS for 600. Wood is pretty beat up but it's all numbers matching and it looks like it's never been fired before. How did I do?

Damn, are those the import marks on the barrel?

I love my non-refurb but the import marks on the receiver are fucking hideous. The only thing I'd trade mine for is a non-refurb with import marks on the barrel. One of the CAI (century) imports?

Did I do good? I'll do a before/after when it all arrives, here's the before though. Shitty Tapco.
>>
>>34360459
That's it. The guy I bought it from brought his '54 Izzy non-refurb to show me too, it was much cleaner than this one. He also told me he has an NDM-86 which made me insanely jealous
>>
>>34360490
Oh and this is my first time so go easy on me

If curious the magpul stuff is zhukov/ak+ respectively, and the tapco is slotted. Handguard comes from khyber customs.

Totaled $405. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for the AK, just the parts.
>>

That one looks pretty damn clean. The one MUSEUM GRADE Izzy I've ever seen sell was for $2000. I think it was also a 1953 though which made it more rare.

Didn't get my question in until the end of the last thread, so I'll repeat it:

>want an AK
>live in a university apartment
>university rules say that you can have pistols in your apartments, but not rifles (constitutional carry on campus)
>only way to have AK is AK pistol
>need to find a good one

Talk me out of buying this Century Zastava PAP M92 pistol for $599:
https://www.preppergunshop.com/ci-zastava-pap-m92-pistol-7-62x39-w-brace-1-30rd-mag-no-krink-break

If I shouldn't buy that, what pistol should I buy? Or should I get an AK pistol at all?

>>34363545
The Arsenal will be the better rifle but that is also fairly subjective. VEPRs are kind of a meme but you did good by getting the shotgun variant. I don't foresee imports from Bulgaria or Romania being banned for any reason especially since they are NATO.

Main reason why i want the push button folder is that when extended, the stock is not inline with the receiver, but off to the side closer to you which IMO gives a better check weld.

Hey Chimps, what is the estimated final cost of your eventual SGL31 to AK74M conversion, minus the cost you paid for your SGL since you bought it pre ban?

I'm trying to decide if I want to spend another ~$2k on another AK autism clone or finally cave for an AUG or maybe a CZ805. I want a nice 5.56 gun that isn't an AR (cuz I already have an AR and tbqh find them boring) and now that Molot is sanction'd and there's no hope for factory RPK74s without even more money on an autism clone I feel it's about time to sell my FAL and get something else as I was pretty much just hanging on to it to potentially fund a VEPR1V/RPK74

Well I paid $250 for the folding trunnion set which included a stock. (The included stock isn't the one I'll be using, but for argument's sake)

$15 for the pistol grip reinforcement plate

And really that's all you technically need, plus $400 for InRange, but that's also including a $100 upcharge to add the Y/I stamps, which is also unnecessary, and to sanitize the receiver and add the full auto notch, which is unnecessary.

I also have 74M barrel components that I'm going to use to replace the factory ones, because I don't like the style of gas blocks on the SGLs, so without that the builder fees would be even cheaper.

And that SGL-31 cost me $900 used.

Local shop had some of those a while back, would have got one if it had proper lightening cuts. It's a Yugo so it should have a slab side on the left.

>>34362838
Other than the extra lightening cut on the left side of the receiver and lack of a muzzle nut, it's an M70, which was issued. Yugoslavia made M64's and M70's (milled rifles) before they went to M70B1's (stamped receivers in two variations: slab side front trunnions and bulged front trunnions).

It's not quite factory; there's something with the gas block that has to be removed for it to operate as an SBR unless I'm mistaken.

An actual factory SBR SLR-104 is available too, but that one is almost $2K for some godforsaken reason.
>>
>>34365837
Those are not "actual factory" SBRs, they are regular 104URs that are cut up just like mine is, except done in a professional shop. The barrels don't have factory crowns.

The only real selling point is that you can Form 4 one and it'll only have the one manufacturer engraved on it instead of a secondary manufacturer.
>>
>>34365855
That's incredibly dumb. Do you still have to remove the regulator or whatever on those? Why pay an extra $800 for a krink when you still have to wait 10+ months to get it instead of dropping however much it costs to get a barrel chop?

You can get one used on gunbroker for $400-500.
>>
>>34369165
guys ask about the wasr constantly, i think the pastebin needs a section just on the wasr.
the wasr is a fine rifle. i would pay more for the slr, but for $200, you can get half a case of 7.62x39 and more than a handful of surplus mags to load them in. if youre on a budget, then go with the wasr.
if you just want bang for your buck, go with the wasr. if you want something nicer, if only in name, go with the slr.
>>
>>34368986
Because you're shooting with it in an extended position, and you get a stuck casing which seems to be excessively common with ARs, and you go to mortar? If this happens in a firefight, then necessarily you were shooting at someone, suddenly your gun stops working, there's a chance that it rammed a fresh round in behind the stuck case, now you have to remove the mag, shake out the live round if there is one, drop the bolt on the stuck case, possibly use the forward assist, and then mortar it out. Having to collapse the stock is just yet another step in that process that happens as you were in the middle of shooting at someone.

The traditional style of AR collapsing stock is known to be consistently weak. Which is why it's basically common knowledge that you're supposed to collapse the stock before mortaring, lest the stock collapse itself.
>>
>>34369271
Stop making sense, chimps.
>>
>>34368868
I feel like slamming a rifle onto hard ground is a little different than the recoil of a shotgun into my shoulder. I'd be worried about the buffer tube or the hinge assembly going first.

In any case, would the Bonesteel Galil style folder be a better call? It looks very similar to the factory folding stock minus that awful cheek rest.
I had one on my M92 and it was OK i guess. Fucking FREEZING cold in the winter though.
>tfw got my cheek stuck to the stock in -30f once.

Which sling should I get for my wasr? I bought one of these leather hungarian ones and it's too short to shoulder the rifle with
>>
>>34369417
If you want leather, the romanian leather ones are better. They don't have all the excess material for the buckle, they use the standard sliding bracket. Otherwise, get any cheap canvas one. Stay away from the new production nylon ones, they're rougher material than canvas.
>>
>>34369304
You're probably right, after all your shoulder is not a static object like the ground, it will have a lot more give to it. As for the accessory you're talking about, I dunno

>>34369309
Doesn't have to be fully extended. The only safe position is all the way collapsed because the rear of the buffer tube is nudged up against the rear of the stock. Having the stock even one notch out puts it at the same level of risk for breaking the pin.

I've been told by quite a few old timers that some of the century MISR 10s they got new had been pre-cut to take double stack.

Yes it appears so on the Files, he has 99% positive feedback so I don't think he's gonna screw me but it's just annoying not having any contact after sending money

And I bought four Би-2 albums, I decided I wanted them physically instead of just digitally and burned. They're probably my favorite popular Russian rock band, there are a few more smaller independent Russian bands I like a lot more but it's much harder and much more expensive to get their stuff physically in the US. Би-2 played a show in Seattle a few months back that I was planning on going to but I was moving that week and wasn't able to go which really bummed me out because they're one of the few Russian rock bands around today that I both really like and that are big enough to come to America to play shows

I bought their self titled Би-2, Mяy Киcc Mи, Drum[a], and O Чём Гoвopят Myжчины. I only wanted Би-2 and Mяy Киcc Mи but the seller had the other two for like $3 a piece so I decided why not. If you want to get into them I'd start with their self titled and then Mяy Киcc Mи, bit honestly it took me a few listens of their self titled to like it

JBI Armory would be a good TX builder and has a solid reputation for quality work. That or see if anyone else here has info...I have only recently stepped into the build world. Very ignorant to many of the aspects and quality shops around the country.

I really don't want to pay $20 for a new one off the internet when I'm just going to turn around and flip the rifle for $250 anyway.

Not a single gun store in central texas carries fricken mosin parts.
Fudge.

I'm talking about with a paintjob and with a virgin barrel. I know a very good builder that charges $550 for a complete build with a virgin barrel. I think JBI is in that ball park too.

you ever test out using the irons with the cheek riser? I remember you saying you were gonna try and zero the 800m setting for 100m or something
>>
>>34371111
Not yet, gonna do it when I shoot at 2gun. I've also found that the GP-25 pad provides enough length that I can sorta rest my cheek bone at the back end of the pad and be able to look through the irons normally with ease. Not a hard position to hold and it feels pretty natural but getting to it quickly would take a good bit of practice. I think setting them higher is gonna work out better for quick acquisition

My 23 inch 54r Vepr is arriving soon™ so I'm trying to decide which optic to get. I'm looking at pic related(but I'm open to other suggestions) I think I want the 6x but the 4x looks like it sits lower(not sure if that's true but based on the pictures it looks like it's lower) and looks a bit more aesthetic. Also I don't really have any where to shoot long distances so I don't really need a mega optic so 8x would probably be the highest I would want/need.

And suggestions?

I don't care about how the outside looks, if it shoots accurately I am stoked. If not then I flip it for profit and get something else. There is always another buyer for these rifles.

I get having a rifle that looks nice but it is low on my list of things to care about as long as the internals are taken care of.

What US made muzzle can I get for my Norinco Mak-90, and how should my gunsmith go about getting it threaded? I blindly bought the tapco version of pic related and brought it to my gunsmith, he wants to move the front sight post back and thread the metal that's currently sitting on for it. TTAG review on KS-12 says it's fine but doesn't like low power loads.
Isn't that the same as Saiga 12's and Vepr 12's, at least until they're broken in?
Really trying to decide if I should just jump on a Vepr 12 now before they're gone or wait and get a KS-12 when they're back in stock.
