/k/ i just paid a deposit on a Sako TRG 42 300WM OD Green rifle.. however there is not an extensive amount of information on them online. Should i have spent a little extra on an AI or McMillan, or does anyone on here have a trg of their own and can offer some insiht?
>pic related pretty much the rifle i got
Sake is very good. You did fine. .300WM is a solid choice in caliber too.
What glass are you going to run?
Don't forget to put a deposit down on any spare mags you want. Kek.
>implying anyone here can afford that rifle
Good luck getting actual advice

It has a Leupold Mk4 LRT 6.5-20x50 on it already, depending on how I like it I may upgrade to a NF or S&B PMII
Nice. Get some good glass and start reloading. I'd put a fierce brake on it to keep the shoulder from getting too tender. 215 Bergers and H1000 is a good starting point, but the 230gr projectiles are interesting as well.

I have a leupold 6.5-20x50 vx-3 varmint. I love it. I put it on a fnar.
>>34358431
Funnily enough the bloke i bought it off sold it to me with 300 handloads. And sold me his hornady lnl classic deluxe kit with redding comp dies and all the extras for an extra 500 bucks

>Should i have spent a little extra on an AI or McMillan
A TRG is certainly on par with an AI AT or AXMC imo. It comes down to personal pref.
Primary reason why I never considered a TRG and went with an AI AT instead is simply because I wanted a lefty bolt.

>Leupold Mk4 LRT 6.5-20x50
I'm not a fan of Leupold, but if that's what's on it, there's no reason to replace it straight away. It should be plenty fine for most uses.
What bipod does it have?
What ranges will you shoot it at?
>>34358460
I am not a huge fan of the Leupolds either, my hunting rifles all have swaros on top of them, but the mk4 is supposed to be very good.
It has the atlas bipod adapter and ive purchased a bt10 i think it is. The sako bipod here in australia retails for nearly 1500 brand new i believe.
My local sporting shooters range reaches up to 1000 yards, however I have some good friends with private property I am planning to shoot on as well.

Also consider Vortex Razor HD Gen 2. A lot of pro shooters use them, and the warranty is fantastic.
>>34358444
What do you like/dislike about the fnar? Would you buy it again?

>Not an extensive amount of knowledge online about a rifle that has been in military service for 20 years
Did you even fucking look OP? Do yourself a favor and head on over to Snipershide. They have threads dedicated to the TRG. You got a great rifle, now invest in some 208gr AMAX bullets, H1000 powder and get yourself reloading equipment.
Only downside of this rifle is the mags and other accessories are fucking expensive.
I just got into rifles and decided to pick up a Tikka T3x CTR in stainless. Should be at my LGS on Tuesday. And once I move to a free state next year, I'll be slapping a suppressor on that hoping to find at least a 600 yard range.

I almost got a Razor HD. I ended up going with a PST Gen II and putting a little more money into my rifle. The Razor HD was nice and the 34mm tube was awesome, but for half the price, I felt like the PST was better suited for my applications. If you can't or don't want to drop ver $2k on glass, The Diamondback and PST scopes seem to be pretty good too.

Yeah I did go and look mate, the search bar was returning nothing for me, hence I asked here. I'll have another look later today but nice to know theres at least some threads for it on there.
I have a rem 700 sps aac with the heavy contour threaded barrel, 20in 308 1:10 twist, in an xlr chassis with a jewell trigger.
Ive shot this for a few years now, i have a good chunk of money to spend right now, and want to know if theres any reason to take it to a gunsmith to get worked on, and what type of work. Ive been researching this a bit, and it seems like there is no kind of work to do on a rem 700 unless you switch out the barrel to get blue printed.
Its essentially a stock rifle that i pieced together myself. Im getting .47 moa out of the current stock barrel, so i dont really want to swap it out.
Can anyone recommend a good range finder for inside of 1000m, I was thinking of getting the Vortex Ranger 1000.
>>34362074
Vortex are good, but the new sigs are awesome.
>>34362225
I'm pretty keen on a new sig as well they look the goods
I want it so bad...
What's it like having money?
>>34362074
The Sig Kilo 2000 is pretty much the gold standard now I think. Granted there's the pricey as fuck ones that will out do it but I think it's kicked Leica's 1600b off the throne.

It depends on your personality. The thrill of materialism decays over time, and eventually you're left with a bunch of stuff you don't have time to use or maintain.
No joke. My wife and I bring in $190k/yr in an area with an extremely low cost of living. I went nuts buying all sorts of "man toys" like fast cars, motorcycles, guns, etc. The novelty wears off fast and soon you're looking for the next "spending high."
I was more content with my life back when I barely had enough money to buy a coffee in the morning. I had few actual worries and didn't realize how well I actually had it.
The takeaway? Never fall victim to lifestyle inflation. I'm in the process of selling off 90% of my firearms, keeping my favorites and the class 3 stuff. It just becomes too much
>>34362886
Can I have one of your motorcycles?
>>34362886
I'm in a similar boat but went back to grad school and blew off some $ I saved that I now wish I didn't spend on useless guns. Selling off the vast majority of them and keeping NFA and ones I actually shoot.
>>34362886
These are very true words. Unfortunately, I've become a borderline alcoholic and it takes lots of my money and free time.
>>34363004
You could give me all you excess cash so you won't be tempted to spend it on liquor.
>>34363040
But then I'd be sober. Why would I do something stupid like that?
>>34358387
You could have gotten a lot more for a lot less money, and 300WM is a shit choice.
>>34362929
>grad school
>can't handle money
you don't say
>>34362724
Op here. Mate I'm not rich, I've worked hard and long hours and weeks away from my family so i can buy myself something nice now and then
>>34363111
Explain?
>>34363127
lol, i'm in a stem field and have 3 opportunities lined up. starting salary for all my peers has been 90-150k. I'm not disagreeing though, that was stupid as fuck of me.
>>34364538
Ok Mr. Pharmacist,
>>34363111
>300WM is a shit choice
For what?
>>34362225
>>34362266
>>34362827
I'm lower middle class not upper middle class. What's something for under $600nzd
>>34364644
I've no fuggen idea what this'd cost you cause import fees, but the kilo 2000 isn't expensive.
