Portland fag here. I'm the guy who posted the pic in the OP during the last thread. It's pretty nice as far as mid distance shooting is concerned. You have to get there a little early to avoid the rest of the people that may end up going to that exact spot, but there's tons of different places to shoot out there. The quarry is simply just the biggest. Backstop is a literal clif face made of granite, so it's about as good as backstops go. Occasionally you'll get ricochets but they'll more often than not deflect sideways. Only once have I ever had a round deflect somewhere I couldn't spot.

Biggest problem is the dumbasses that tend to go shooting there.

There is a good spot in quilcene. You can shoot whatever you want there and it's just logging land.

would highly recommend just for the convenience of getting an immediate GO on the state level background check when buying a handgun, yes. no more state level wait period.
it also usually gets you out of paying for background checks when doing firearms related things such as joining a range, clubs, or leagues. depending on how active you are or aren't it may very well save you money by getting it.
not having to unload and stow every time you enter your vehicle if you're OCing is nice.

even if you don't actively carry the convenience and the ability to carry when you do want to or keep a loaded handgun in your vehicle is more than worth it.

don't wait until a panic, getting one usually isn't too time consuming otherwise as long as you don't mind being printed. the only other con is that the physical license itself is retarded. for reference a credit card is 2" x 3.5", the license itself is larger than that, after lamination mine is roughly 2.5" x 3.75" so it only fits in the billfold not the slots. ymmv as some counties use a different system but none of them are proper cards so they all need to be laminated.
