No, I'm not trying to turn my 7.62x39 into a freakin' sniper or something to that effect. I merely think the AK irons suck and I want something more open.
That being said, do I go the dust cover rail or the side mount option? What are pros/cons of each? Which is cheaper, and what optic should I mount on it?
I'm also open to suggestions about clearer irons. Wouldn't want to add unnecessary weight with a mount + scope. Honestly I might even prefer a nicer set of irons over a sight
something like this maybe?
>>34353346
Dust cover mounts suck, they don't hold zero. Go with a side rail mount
>>34353346
I swapped my rear sight for ghost ring sight. Krebs custom. Also have red dot on siderail
>>34353716
this is what I've been reading, although some manufacturers can pull it off
>>34353750
pics?
>>34353346
RS Regulate, hands down. It's a QD-ish side rail mount that holds zero pretty well.
>>34354072
Midwest industries makes good mounts if you want something less pricey than a RS
>>34354072
What do you think of this for a budget setup http://www.opticsplanet.com/leapers-utg-pro-quick-detach-ak-side-mount.html?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ba-704Tactical
>>34354133
those are more expensive
>>34354140
Spend money one the optic mount that isn't made of pot metal.
>>34354159
They are around $100, rs mounts are around $150+ depending on type of top mount
>>34354246
what?
>>34354388
Leapers/utg is shit, get the RS Regulate or stick with the irons because a crappy optic mount is useless if you actually want to hit anything.
Christ I swear today is poorfags bad decisions day.
>>34354418
buddy is lending me an acog, is that a good ak sight if I combine it with RS? and what's the difference between upper/lower mounts?
>>34354454
Not really because the acog sits up high for in line stocks like an ar15 or scar and you have an ak. The lowest rail mount would be best. Last I checked the lower part grabs the all rail (there are a few different kinds) and the upper is for different mounting options (long/short rail, 30mm ring, etc).
https://rsregulate.com/product/akog/
That upper and whatever lower fits your gun and extends backwards. Acogs have poor eye relief.
>>34354454
There's a compact ACOG that indexes really well but honestly your best bet is an AimPoint pro. That's what the Regulate was designed with in mind.

>>34354521
>>34354689
agh, too pricey. Thanks though guys.
I just gave it another thought and all I really need is a more "open" rear sight. anyhthing like this exist?
>>34353716
>what is zenitco
>>34354744
Wait for a 4th of July sale.
>irons
Don't get a tailed dust cover. They're heavy, expensive, don't hold zero, and break.
Your next best thing is techsights. They're slightly more consistent since the rear sight locks into the little hole for the spring thing I can't remember the name of, but will still be better than stock sights.
For any mount- literally the only option is rs regulate
Also don't get gas tube mounts. They are utg tier
>>34354792
>techsights
Tell me more.
>>34354888
AR diopter rear sight that replaces the takedown button, recoil spring guide rod, and top cover.
If your AK has a side rail buy a midwest mount and optic. Tech sights are very expensive for what they are
>>34354985

sorry for the shit picture
After a few drinks I bet a Marble tang peep sight would work if you could figure out the right elevation. Obviously using the largest peep aperture. You could then fold it down to use your battle sights.
>>34354033
Here you go, doesn't illustrate ghost ring that well but I'm at work so yeah
Midwest Industries.
That's all folks.

Update: I bought the hundred dollar midwest industries one.
I have no sight to use with it though and y'all said ACOG isn't a good ak sight. What red dot should I buy? Preferably the circle/cylinder shaped ones because they're aesthetic as fuck on AKs
>>34356397
I just use the primary arms micro dot in the pic above. Pretty good. Then I can just take off the side rail and use them sweet ass ghost ring sights
>>34356397
Holosun HS503GU is probably the best Chinese red dot for around $200. If you want to wait till the 4th of July sales and can afford it you could probably pick up an Aimpoint PRO for ~$350 and be set as well.

What will it be around 4th of July
